I first came upon this site a few years ago. The place seemed like a bunch of whiners on the level of the No-Organic-Webshooters crowd. Back a little over a year ago, I was doing a Laserdisc conversion to DVD of Star Wars and was researching deleted scenes. I'd happened across the Cantina scene and a few others and was looking for more. Google led me to here and Deleted Magic. Deleted Magic is hands down the best documentary on Star Wars, ever. Also, all the preservation and edit efforts. I stopped my conversion and joined into this now very interesting community. Rather than whine about Luca$, the members here took matters into their own hands and made versions they liked, of Star Wars and other films. I was quite happy with the Cowclops and other versions, including the amazing WookieGroomer sets and then I came across the Classic Editions. I know some like them and others don't, but I found them amazing. They came as close as possible to the nice 2004 set without the special edition crud. They aren't perfect, but they were cool enough that I spent great effort and money to compile nice almost professional looking versions of everything from the Classic Editions and Deleted Magic to WookieGroomer's Splitscreens, Spoofs, Extras (Cowclops or Riktor, I think-been over a year) and even the Holiday Special and gave them out as Christmas gifts to my closest friend Star Wars fanatics. I couldn't wait for the torrent of Empire so I got it directly from OCPMovie. My timing was good, because he had just completed Jedi and I was to get an early copy. I didn't mind the $10 each, plus the freebies of his short films. I did get the list of other DVDs available, including the preservation/fanedits in question. I really didn't think anything about it. I've bought from the convention circuits for years, and they usually charge $20 per disc. Not everyone really has the ability or inclination to torrent and burn.

I've also had an interest in The Thief and the Cobbler ever since I read about it in Comic Scene magazine when Roger Rabbit came out. I was very disappointed when it finally came out in its bastardized version (yes, I was aware of the story at the time). I followed with great interest OCP's project. It is quite an incredible piece of work. I am of the opinion that Garrett is one of the most valuable members of a community full of worthy, creative members. I am quite proud to be part of this community and am about to embark on my own fan edit for the first time after a year of reading about others.

As much as I respect and enjoy OCP's work, I have to admit that I was quite shocked and disappointed when he was first suspended. I followed minute-by-minute, post after post, in almost real time, when it was announced that Star Wars GOUT was finally being released. OCP's posts started out as giddy and happy and soon degenerated into ravings about how he had wasted all this time and effort on the Classic Editions. This was, of course, before we knew they would be just glorified laserdisc transfers. He then started attacking the only currently active preservation effort, the X0 project. He didn't just criticize it, he became quite the asshole spamming in multiple threads. There's a line between genuine criticism and what he was doing. He quite deserved his suspension. Once he calmed down, he became the OCP we all knew from before. He just never quite got that it wasn't that he was criticizing the Site owner and Mods' pet project, it was the very rude way he was doing it. Most of those posts are probably gone, but he was quite off the deep end, and then when his posts were edited of their more over-the-top comments, he was editing them back in (a no-no in any forum).

The newest banning was not really unexpected. When it came out that the newest Star Wars CE V2 was delayed so he could make a little money off of it first to help move, I knew something was going to happen. Then it came out about his selling of not only his own work, but others. I knew this to be true, because I have an email with the same list from over a year ago. He got a free pass because he was such a valued contributor, but it is one of the overriding rules here. The best way to fly under the radar with the fan edits is to not openly profit from them. I've read in his multiple threads in multiple forums about his unfortunate circumstances. I want to really feel bad for the guy, except I have to wonder about his priorities. He can barely keep a roof over his head and was days from being thrown out on the street, but can somehow audition 300+ people for a fan film about She-Hulk. I suppose life isn't always about food and shelter, but there are more important things than hobbies, especially expensive ones.

I'm not really sure where I was going with this rambling post. I just want to acknowledge the valuable contribution that OCP has made to this forum, and indirectly, he is the reason I found this forum in the first place. I also understand why he is gone. Contrary to his belief, it isn't because he criticized the X0 project, but his first suspension was because he was being an asshole about it. The banning is because he broke the most important rule. No one has said he can't still sell his work and others'. He just can't do it and post here. It's a shame, because so much of his work refers back to here. I earlier posted a picture of Pete Rose because this reminds me of him. I am a big Reds fan and have close ties to Cincinnati. Pete is the most deserving baseball player in history to be in the Hall of Fame. He worked his ass off to be the not the best player ever, but the hardest working player ever (the guy ended another player's career by accident trying to win an AllStar Game!). It breaks my heart that he did what he did and I want to pick him up and shake him for letting his fans, his city, and his team down. But he broke a rule that exists for a very good reason.

Thanks, OCPMovie. You will be missed. But this forum doesn't begin nor end with one member.

You mods are stupid petty dicks. You may as well ban me too because OCPMovie is one of the only reasons I ever come here.

Since this is now a "my 2 cents" thread, I'll put mine in.

I arrived here in Nov 2004, probably after a link from one of Rikter's many torrents in that place we all know and love thanks to people like ADM, Rikter and DarkJedi (You know that one where everybody knows your name and share ratio. ). Anyways, I too have been a fan of The Thief and the Cobbler since reading that issue of Comic Scene (which might have been the same one with the Superman II script that made me love the original Donner version oh so many years ago, but I'm not sure). OCP's Deleted Magic was a thing of wonder, and his work on Thief is still amazing to me. The guy has a passion for his hobbies, that much I'll give him. Unfortunately, I've always lived by a rule of "What I have, I'll gladly share with you" with almost all acts of fandom (this has been my way since I was doing fansub vhs tapes back in the late 80's). When I first read the Thief threads, I was excited and shot OCP an email about getting copies of all the dvds he had done. I was quoted prices that seemed astronomically high for stuff that he got in trade himself, so I waited. I pulled the torrents, have given out more copies of Thief and Deleted Magic then I could count, and have spread the word of Dick Williams.

I saw the news about the 2k6 OOT dvds, and shared my opinions about GL's methods of releasing them on this and other forums. Personally, I think it was a crock of shit what GL did, but then again, he's been having people double-dip for years now, so it wasn't surprising to see him do it again. That being said, the first "banning of OCP" was kind of a shock, until I learned of his ranting. I followed threads to other forums where they too talked of banning him...but not because of Star Wars. They banned him because of Thief, because of money involved with Thief dvds, and for other reasons (some I agreed with, some I didn't, but I kept my opinion to myself).

Now, I've been into fansubbing and "bootlegging" per-say for right at 20 years or so, and in that entire time, I have never, EVER, charged someone for what I have. I'll ask for the medium to put it on (vhs back then, dvd now), or enough to cover said medium if I supply it, but I have never been paid for stuff for fandom. Have I traded? Yes, for an even trade of stuff. Have I just given people copies so they can see it or have it in their collection? All the freakin time. Hell, for the past few years, most of my friends have gotten fanedits or preservation dvds for birthday or christmas presents. Have I put stuff on ebay or sold people things that I downloaded/traded for/bought from a skeezy dealer at a con or evil "we rent or sale bootlegs or fansubs tapes/dvd" comic shop (ocp didn't do the ebay thing but alot of others have)? Oh HELL no. I didn't buy it, so I'm not making profit off of it.

OCP put alot of his own time and money into his Thief project, and for that I give him kudos and pats on the back and all that jazz. But, if he's offering it to people, to get it out there, to help people see what has not been previously seen before, charging them should have never come into the equation.

Deleted Magic- top notch work, which I still give out to this day to people as a great supplement to Star Wars and to see stuff they've never seen before with it.
The Thief and the Cobbler- I give this out like it's crack going out of style, and will continue to do so since we'll never be able to buy the "true" version of this film.

But selling stuff = wrong. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.

OCP will be missed, that goes without saying. The work he's done is some of the best stuff out there, and I hold his edits and preservations with that of ADM, CBB, AngrySvn, Rikter, MeBeJedi and a ton of other equally awesome assets to the fanedit/preservation community. But, I can't condone what he's done with the whole "I need money" thing. I'm sorry man, I've worked alot of shitty jobs at shitty pay (at my current one, I've worked both Thanksgiving and Christmas day at REGULAR pay because my boss doesn't have to pay holiday pay), and have never EVER resorted to selling fanedits or preservations of things.

If you're reading this OCP, I thank you for the work you've done on Thief, Deleted Magic, the SW Classic Editions, and your other projects. And I do wish you good luck in the future with your other movies, projects and life.

And my brain is empty......

I would like to echo the sentiments many have expressed already....

OCP is a valued member who had done top-notch work. I've dealt with him and it was always a pleasure. I think it's wrong what he did and I agree with his banning. What he did put the existence of this site in jeopardy.

I think this whole issue is so touchy because none of us really want to see him banned. His work is amazing and it's tough to see someone who contributed so much to this community go down in flames like that.

I only hope that sometime and somehow, he can come back to the community and continue to knock our socks off with his work. I know that's probably not possible ever, but I hope it can change.

Is this a law enforcement forum, or is it about fan editing films?

I think the point has been made by this forums admins on the subject, and that the reason for the banning is now well known by all who visit here on a regular basis. If people want to break the rules, then ban them for a time, and let everyone know the reason. The whole perma ban thing does not lend it's self to being constructive in a comunity such as this. Let's learn how to grow and work this type of thing out. As admins, you took on the role of building up a comunity, not becoming the overlords of copyright policy.

Now let's be big men, and learn to forgive. This issue has become very petty and ego based.

Let Pete Rose into the Baseball Hall of Fame! They even pardoned Nixon for God sakes...

I've suggested this to OCP previously, but it seems pretty obvioust that he isnt interested.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

This is good to know. I'm glad an attempt to reconcile this issue has been made.

Oh come on, OCP...if they offered to forgive you and you just walked away, then that's fucked!!!

No, I didn't say anything about the mods offering anything. I said that I suggested to OCP that he just bite his tongue and forget about the whole thing because it's really petty and not worth remembering. That's all.

There's what, two critical posts over there? That's hardly spamming. Not sure who would have even bothered, but it wasn't any big deal.

Ah....I see. I'd like to see the whole thing forgiven and just be a reminder that this kind of stuff isn't allowed here.

Banning OCPMovie?

This is sad, this guy has truely brought some great things to this forum.
He has helped me with ideas on my projects and guided me in the right direction. His projects have been a inspiration to all of us.

Once he sent me a package of 5 discs with his great projects and never asked anything in return.

He is truely a class act.....

WOW, you are probably the ONLY one that ever got that treatment.

I AGREE WITH DJ ON THIS ONE. DURING THE FANEDIT CONTEST HE EXPECT THE JUDGES (ME AND A FEW OTHERS) TO "OBTAIN" HIS EDITS FOR ENTRY INTO THE CONTEST. HE THOUGHT IT WAS UNFAIR THAT HE HAD TO SEND A COPY TO EACH JUDGE. I DIDN'T HEAR ANY COMPLAINTS FROM ANY OF THE OTHER CONTESTANTS ABOUT HAVING TO DO THE SAME.

To be fair, he's not. If you established a repoire with the guy, he'd send you stuff at his own expense if you asked nicely. Not defending his other actions, I'm just saying that he did send out non-Thief stuff for free.

Glad to see that he did treat some people other than myself. (Personally, I told him to stop sending me things - as I'd rather see the man eat than send me DVDs of his work)

In fact I don't think I'm the only person who likes his work and considers him a great friend of this community.

I haven't posted before today, so forgive me if it's not my place to comment, but OCP is the guy who told me about this site and these boards. I've bought dvd's from him before and the prices were pretty much just cost of disc and shipping. Also his work is great, Deleted Magic, Return of the Ewok, the Classic Editions. I can't comment about the issues with him mentioned but it seems to be a shame to lose him.

Hey, Aaron... great to see you around these parts!

I too think it's a shame to not see OCP around here anymore. As you and I both know, he's done some great things for this community, and he was one of the most talented and driven members here. At the same time, he seems to have stepped on the wrong toes to step on around here, and it cost him his membership. All I can really say about that is that it's probably not a very good idea to insult the host in their own house if you ever expect to be welcome there again.

If I could somehow make it so OCP could be here again and play well with others, I would definitely do it. The forum feels incomplete without his input.
