That probably summed up all my giddy feelings of the moment!

Huh. He waits for HD-DVD to hit the market before releasing the DVD. How much longer will we have to wait for a decent HD version?

I know how cynical that sounds. But the timing is ... noteworthy.

Eh, I don't care about HD! The movies weren't made for HD, they weren't made for surround sound! The original are here on DVD! I'll be happy for the rest of my life. Lucas's popularity points just shot up about 50 points. Except for the crappy prequel trilogy, I'll never make fun of him again!

Except two months is a very small window. Better than nothing, but it would be nice if it was actually considered a real version instead of a special collector's edition. That's my only complaint.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

They weren't made for DVD, VHS, or Laserdisc, either. Unless you have an exhibition print, you don't have what they were made for.

i wonder if they'll sneak corrected versions of the 2004 OT DVDs in the set as well

Yes. They're actually marketing these as the 2004 editions + the theatrical cuts as a special bonus feature, which kinda annoys me.

I must say that I'm in sort of shock-state right now... My first thought was that this was the same old rumours as allways, but now I am starting to belive.

I am glad that they use the -93 versions of the movies as they have been nicely and tasteful cleaned up and I don't mind the Episode IV (someone will probably make an edit of it that does not have Episode IV in the scroll).

I am just happy, happy and happy to finaly see them released on DVD. Thanks mr Lucasfor proving me wrong after all these years... and a big thank you to Jay and all of us buff's here on the forum.

Edited - bad spelling (as usual)

I still wanna hear what Jay has to say about it... And on what is going to be of this website... But I belive he is possibly on the floor now, paralized of shock.

The only thing we need now is the return of motti!
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

But these releases are said to not have the Episode IV in the scroll... unless that's been changed. I'm still a little bit worried about that being removed from the starwars.com press release.

And sorry I misunderstood you, Devilman. I'm torn 50-50 on that. If they're are corrected, then that will make them the new 2006 version, since the 2004 versions are corrections to the '97 versions. And the last thing we need is another new version, especially so soon.

I meant that if they would slap Episode IV on the scroll, I would not mind... maybe I wasn't clear on that... sorry.

just kidding

Jay, I'm all ready to hand starwarsholidayspecial.com over to you if it ends up with the same kind of results originaltrilogy.com has ended up with (i.e., the Holiday Special on DVD).

Just say the word.
