Wasn’t there something about them bringing back Hayden for it? He wore it pretty well in ROTS.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything so untrue in my life.

You should read more BmB posts.

Disney doesn’t want to bring back anyone from prequels. They will have to eventually, but don’t expect it in Rogue One.

They went so far to edit together several Guinness’s lines together to make a word for the crazy acid trip in Maz’s castle, just because they didn’t want McGregor in it.

I’m pretty sure they are actually heavily considering an Obi-wan spinoff film. If the rumors haven’t been true in the past, than at least more recently it seems like Disney is open to the possibility.

And most people liked Ewan as Obi-Wan so I wouldn’t be surprised if they went through with it.

I can’t really imagine an Obi-Wan film set after ROTS without them making up any ridiculous stuff. Sonce he should have been living on Tatooine foe the entire time, I don’t think many would be interested in slice-of-life on Tatooine type of film.

They could just have the plot be about Obi-Wan protecting a settlement from criminals and/or Tusken Raiders or something.

Well I would be interested in something alternative like that… but unfortunately majority of the intended audience likes popcorn stuff like TFA and such film would not sell.

Well, since SW was inspired by Kurosawa’s Hidden Fortress, why not a Yojimbo type film with Ben Kenobi on Tatooine?
I’d watch that, although I doubt it would ever happen.

However, I’m getting the feeling that Disney might be dropping the third anthology film (for now anyway). I’m pretty sure that they’ll make enough money with just the five films planned, and another anthology film after the main trilogy has been finished might confuse people a lot. A lot of people are already confused by the RO teaser. Sure, Disney is out to make back the 4 billion they spent on Lucasfilm, but they are after all making a new Indiana Jones film, so they might use that as a sort-of replacement. It’s scheduled for a 2019 release, so it’d probably be released a few months before ep. IX.

They brought in ewan to do the line and it was actually ewan’s idea to try to pull Guinness dialogue to blend it.

You could say that SW and ROTJ are pretty much popcorn films too. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. Star Wars are fun space movies with a bit of depth to them and that’s all you need to make a good one.

I’d love a Yojimbo/Red Harvest Old Ben film. Dark Horse did something similar a few years ago:

Was a fantastic storyline with stellar art.

Not that it’s got anything to do with Rogue One but… that’s like saying nobody likes westerns. Just think any good western story but with blasters instead of sixshooters, Tuskans instead of bandits, speeders isntead of wagons, Ben instead of Clint. Basically the opening act of Star Wars then 😉

VIZ TOP TIPS! - PARENTS. Impress your children by showing them a floppy disk and telling them it’s a 3D model of a save icon.

I’d dig a more singular story & location like that. If they kept it serious and gritty the way Rogue One appears, it could continue in this vein of deeper anthologies.

Rogue One feels more like a film for adults, at least from what we’ve seen. If they kept a Kenobi film in that same universe, I’d be all for it. They could stay really tangential to Star Wars and have him only as Ben in the film. No mention of the world or story from which we know him so well.

Seventeen years since we first met him as Kenobi, he’s getting the weathered look that would fit that Anthology world. He’s looking like someone who could have been in exile on a desert planet for many years. He’d be perfect for it.

Well OT has a lot of depth. TFA felt completely empty. I would say, while annoying, at least PT had more depth than TFA.

do you really believe yourself when you say “at least the PT” in response to things you don’t like about TFA?

A great deal of it being in ESB.

TFA felt completely empty.

It had a bit more under the surface than SW but not ESB or ROTJ though.

I agree but then again you’re comparing an entire trilogy to one movie so that’s not really a good overall point. TFA is deeper than any of the individual PT films when you compare film to film.
