The issue with TLJ is the plural of Jedi is Jedi.
Imagine if there was internets when Flash Gordon was in theaters! 😉

Reading R + L ≠ J theories
I posted this in the other IX thread but I’ll repost here since this thread is more relevant.
I’ve seen a few people say they don’t like The Rise of Skywalker as the title. My friends don’t, and I’ll admit I didn’t like it at first either (I was holding out hope for Balance of the Force), but the more I’ve thought about it, the more I actually think it’s really appropriate. Here’s my interpretation:
If you think about it, Luke has really been the focus of the new trilogy, or more specifically, what he and the Jedi represent, which is HOPE.
Leia wanted to find Luke in TFA because she felt he was the key to stopping the First Order, partially because of his power, but also because his influence as the legendary Jedi could sway the New Republic into taking the First Order threat seriously.
In TLJ, Leia and the Resistance were desperate for Luke’s help not only for his power, but also because the Jedi represent hope, and that hope returning could help inspire the galaxy and the remnants of the Republic to unite against the invading First Order.
Even though Luke didn’t rejoin the fight for long, the tale of Luke’s mythic stand against the First Order and Kylo Ren has spread throughout the galaxy, and so the rise of Skywalker’s legend has reignited hope in the allies of the Resistance to also fight back against this common enemy.
It’s likely additional interpretations will be made more apparent once we see the film, as the titles often have, but I’m sold on the title now. For those who aren’t happy with it yet I hope you’ll come around to embrace it as I have. I’m pumped for IX, y’all.
Also, HelloGreedo posted a video regarding his interpretation of the title, and I think I would like it if some version of this turned to be true as well. These films are fundamentally about family, and I think this trilogy has emphasized how family is more than blood, so I could see ‘Skywalker’ becoming the mantle of that idea.

Given how “”“meta”"" the ST has been, Luke’s words (presumably to Rey) in the teaser could continue this. The message would carry on what TLJ seemed to state, that these stories, characters, and archetypes will always be with us, the audience. As we leave Narnia and return to our lives, hopefully they will spur us toward greater things. We are broom boy, and it seems like TROS will send us off by concluding the ST’s ‘meditation’ on Star Wars itself, and its meaning for all of us. Seems like about the only satisfying way to go with one final film, given the direction 7 and 8 took us.
I guess we could talk ad nauseum about the different directions they could’ve taken with the last trilogy, but I’m honestly glad they’ve gone in this direction. To me, it seems like Kennedy, Johnson, Abrams and others decided to collaborate on a story for the fans and future fans, not just a story that fits within the lore of the universe, but a story that continues to add to the tapestry of Star Wars mythology, and how these myths can translate to the lives of its audience.

Okay, here’s my theory. There’s a big showdown in the guts of the Death Star, all the Force Ghosts are present, everyone’s about to be blown up or something, and then Kylo has a big change of heart and self-sacrifices so that his beloved Rey (and co.) can escape. As he does so Palpasnoke is screaming “no, you are Master of the Knights of Ren!” and Kylo - just a Leia’s theme/Force theme mash-up swells - says “I am a Skywalker, like my mother before me!” before going kaboom.

If this happens, I’ll never love again.
I said it refers to an individual because the title is singular, but really, my point was really about the usage of a name. And no, this isn’t about it becoming a title, because it’s not Rise of the Skywalker.

I mean, I guess that’s not that far off from what I’m counting on. However, I hope they don’t have Ben sacrifice himself. Instead, have the Force Ghosts do that.
It’s an okay title. For years my own title for my dream Obi-Wan film has been “THE TRIALS OF KENOBI”. The Rise of Skywalker is at least a big improvement over The Last Jedi as a title. TLJ should have at least had “of the” included.
But to quote Eliot Carver: “lacks punch don’t you think?”

Why?
I wish the titles were more like original Star Trek episode titles. A Taste of Armageddon, Dagger of the Mind, Patterns of Force, Whom Gods Destroy, The Lights of Zetar, and Let That Be Your Last Battlefield would all be so much cooler than every other Star Wars title so far.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

One almost was. 😉

That immediately came to mind.

So in french it’s officially gonna be : L’ascension de Skywalker. Space Jesus title style ! (I just hope they aren’t gonna put back the “chosen one” mythology in IX 😕)
Title is starting to grow on me a lot, now that I’ve had a few days to get used to it!
The Ascension of Skywalker sounds about right for a French translation. I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of it. It’s perfect!
Queue up incessant theories about Rey Skywalker. My prediction is that she will take up the name herself, though not a biological descendant. I like that idea; after all, don’t we all do that to some degree?
Prophetic
No offense, kid, but I don’t think you know how to boil water.
