Yes. Please do it already so yackwhicks can stop posting here.

Should I try to make a joke original and have everyone laugh at me or try to copy a joke and have everyone laugh at me?

People will still laugh at me because they would think that I quit because “the posters were too mean to me” and that I couldn’t handle it. They would also laugh at all the posts I made before I quit.

Whatever path I take, the endgame is always people laughing at me.

Hi Guys,
I’m a Little excited, so I’m posting here as well (dropped a few lines in the SE section as well):

In Germany, pay tv SKY has currently the Star Wars Channel. I couldn’t believe it, but it really seems that they are showing the '97 SE of ANH there. It’s noticeable due to the fact the film opens with “Krieg der Sterne”, rather than “Star Wars”. The last Version that did this, was the '97 SE. I recorded it last night, I will check for sure after work.

Wouldn’t this be a perfect source for '97 SE Transfer? (I’m not technical expert…)
Unfortunately, the rest of the trilogy is the 2011 BD Version…

What do you guys think?

A young jedi named Darth Vader who was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil helped the empire hunt down and destroy the jedi knights. Vader was seduced by the dark side of the force.

Sounds great but they could very well just have added the German title and crawl, so don’t get too excited until you check out the actual movie - when they last showed SW on TV here, the title and crawl was also in Czech, even though it wasn’t even in Czech on BD, and it was the 2011 version.

OK, let’s see - I will Report;-) On the site starwars-union.de someone else aready confirmed that there are no rocks in front of R2;-)

Now, that’s very interesting. A user at starwars-union.de hinted that this could be the result of a copyright conflict between Disney and Fox. Someone should get a copy of that HDTV broadcast asap.

Rogue One is redundant. Just play the first mission of DARK FORCES.

I have checked some scenes. This is the strangest case ever. This is what’s in the version:

  • “Krieg der Sterne” Crawl
  • Title “Neue Hoffnung” without “Eine” (97)
  • Purple cap of 3PO’s and R2D2’s ship in the dessert
  • No rocks in front of R2D2
  • Ben Kenobi’s scream I believe from '97 (it’s definitely not '04 or '11)
  • Jabba from 2004/2011

I really don’t know what version they pieced together, any ideas?

Mystery, mystery…

Sounds like it’s the 2004 version, which used to be broadcast by German HDTV stations before the BD came out.

What about Lukes Lightsaber aboard the Millennium Falcon - does it glow Green after the destruction of Alderaan?

And what about the Death Star explosion - does it contain that horrible blue pixelated ('04) corona?

The Death Star cell-block corridor extension should be another dead giveaway - but since it has the 2004 Jabba, I doubt it will have any visual differences from the 2004 version (other than the German bits, of course, which would be spliced in).

OK, I believe Harmy’s right. The lightsaber on the Falcon is kind of green. Seems like an HD '04 Version. But: They really added the '97 crawl and the German sound is definitely not '04 - it doesn’t have that horrible lisp and Obi-Wan’s scream is '97 I believe. Funny that for the other 2 films it’s just '11 BD, but ANH is such a “puzzle”.

Oh well, I had high hopes, as I love '97 SE due to my first big screen experience, but anyhow…

If I could get an invite to myspleen, I would love to get a hold of this. I grew up on the Special Edition and despite my unfettered love for the Silver Screen Edition and all the regrade progress being done around it, I still wouldn’t mind adding the '97 theatrical Star Wars to my never ending list of versions.

It doesn’t hurt to offer help, but it always hurts to disregard those that do.

Hello!!! I am new in Originaltrilogy.com and I do not know how to download the Respecialized Edition (if I can). Somebody could help me?

Well, reading is a good start.

If you would read the first post, you would find this

This can be found at the usual paradoxical place in the same thread as the Despecialized Edition.

So the next logical thing is to read the Despecialized edition thread : http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Harmys-STAR-WARS-Despecialized-Edition-HD-V25-MKV-IS-OUT-NOW/id/12713

There are detailed information in the first post how to get this.
To make it even easier, this is a direct link to a google document : https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yLsvexWBVM8IYSGopKuSfsGk5YIgCwQWd23bqb5ryD4/pub

I already saw the last link you sent me. Did you mean the ninth link in the Other Helpful Links section? Because that sends me to the same page (http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/id/16682).

Hi Folks.

I’ve just been to see Rogue One and I absolutely loved it. And of course…what happens after watching a new Star Wars film? You wanna head off and watch the original trilogy all over again!

I cannot bear to sit through the blu-rays again - I did it for my kids, but the mental scarring is too much to bear! I am aware of Harmy’s Despecialized Editions (and I have seen A New Hope at friend’s house) - what a remarkable piece of work!

But call me fussy. Like many my age (42), my first cinema experience of Star Wars was in 1997 - it was only after that, that I really started to appreciate the trilogy as a whole (I was always kinda bored by V & VI). I bought the video trilogy (silver) and that is pretty much how I like to remember the films.

This Re-specialized version of is of massive interest to me. Can someone help me with the appropriate search term please? Or even a version number?

Many thanks!

I had a quick read through the Google Docs document this morning - everything you need to know is in there with regards to finding the Despecialized Editions. I am just not quite sure how to locate the Respecialized Edition! Need Version Number of Search Term.

OK - so I went for “HARMY 97SE” - we’ll see how that goes.

Is a re-specialized ESB in the works? While many of the 1997 modifications to ESB are not that apparent to me, I do prefer the Emperor / Vader scene in the 1997 version.

ROTJ is another story - the 1997 changes were mostly terrible - the ending was the only thing I liked, but I could happily stick with the de-specialized version since it won’t have that stupid song at Jabba’s place!!

Cheers!

Wasn’t the redone scene with the Emperor changed in 2004? As for me, I’ll wait for a recoloring of the blu-ray if I want to watch the special edition (or watch Empire Revisited).
Il liked watching the respecialized version of episode 4 because I never saw the old Jabba scene and the colors are amazing.

Yes, the 1997 Emperor scene is identical to the theatrical release and the 2004 Emperor is IMHO one of the worst changes made to these movies and definitely the worst one done to Empire.

I have downloaded all 36 RAR files. I am able to open each one individually, but I get a CRC error when attempting to validate or extract the ISO file in WinRAR - Any ideas?!

I CAN extract the MDS file.
