Very dark indeed. Although she seems to be missing a perfect opportunity to strangle Jabba in his sleep?

The second one reminds me of TMBTM’s The War Of The Stars edit.

Where were you in '77?

Dark, yes, but it’s also basically what happened, per the dialogue in Kasdan’s 2nd draft of ROTJ.

“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”

And thanks for mentioning The War of the Stars! One of the best and most well-made fanedits I’ve ever seen.

I’m guessing he had a foolhardy plan to steal Vader’s lightsabre and it worked out far better than anticipated, judging by the look of shock on his face.

Yup. That, and he’s shocked to see wires dangling out of Vader’s severed head rather than blood.

So about Vader’s helmet melting in 7. I know in reality it was plastic, but storywise wasn’t it supposed to be some sort of metal? Why do you guys think they decided to make it plastic canonically?

Author

Is it plastic canonically? I can’t find a source for that.

Also, metal does melt under intense heat.

CGI Yoda actually replaced puppet Yoda in TPM.

“Creepy” Yoda, not “Real” Yoda. I’m talking about the very same puppet used for the OT. The guy is 800 yo, 30 years younger shouldn’t be that noticeable.

I feel you. What’s funny is that the TPM CGI Yoda looks considerably younger than the CGI Yoda’s in the rest of the trilogy.

I don’t remember CGI Yoda being different in TPM than in the rest of the PT. I believe it’s the same model. The difference might be that the skin texture, the animation and the lightning are slighly better.

Still, the best change made to the PT to date:

Same face; just older (and yes I actually meant that he looked older in my previous post. Though that’s probably due to the added detail he has in comparison to the other films. Especially AOTC.

None of this really matters to me anyway because I think Ady is going to use his own puppet for PT:R

It’s bewitched to burn at higher temperatures than Tellurian wood. Would.

Speaking of the ILM art show: one of the challenges offered to the artists was designing concept art to fit a series of ersatz “director’s notes” for a supposed SW film. Matt Rhodes of BioWare took this challenge and ran with it, creating a whole alternate history of the OT.

Among other things: instead of the Bothans, it’s a new alien race specified in the challenge prompts (the Danji) who obtain the plans to the second (?) Death Star; the Rebel attack at Endor involves a giant mobile-asteroid base; Oola survives and escapes from Jabba’s palace; and though Leia, Han, Lando, Chewie, and the droids are all present, Luke Skywalker is not.

Instead, Luke’s place is taken by a blonde female Imperial Royal Guard, who seems to have struck up a romance with Biggs Darklighter – since the mustached Rebel pilot apparently survives into ESB and ROTJ.

This is very intriguingly reminiscent of Ralph McQuarrie’s 1975 drawings featuring a female Luke as the protagonist of SW… or fem-Luke’s fantasy equivalent, the redeemed warrior Sorsha in Willow.

Someone made a James Bond-esque title sequence for ESB;

(It’s a concept so foreign to SW that it feels really weird to watch, but it’s none-the-less pretty interesting to see such a well made mash-up of the styles and iconography of two completely different franchises.)

I think that’s been posted around here before, but it is really cool nonetheless.

If nothing else, the concepts in the art are so much more interesting than TFA.

Do you think it’s possible that they’ll reveal Rey had no training and she learned force powers without help from anyone? I know people are saying that she may have had force training but Kylo Ren says himself that she is untrained but strong in the force. I think it would be really dumb if it turns out she learned all those powers at the moment. I’d rather it was learned she had training younger in her life and forgot she did. That would be more believable.

Don’t you think that’s something best discussed in the Episode 8 spoiler thread?

Of course not. The film clearly tells the audience that there’s more to this girl than we currently know. This is especially stated when Maz asks Han who she was to only then cut to another scene right after.

There are a few thing in TFA and the Before The Awakening Novel that suggests Rey has had her mind tampered with.
