I like that the claymation chess is better animated. Is it really claymation again?

Yep, it was done with stop-motion by the same guy who did it back in 1976.
(Well, it’s technically not “claymation”, but it was done with little “puppets”.)

Most of us liked TFA, some of us didn’t.

That pretty much sums it up. Although I’d add “Mala doesn’t like Daisy because of squirrel face.”

Topic dismissed.

More people seem to understand Chewie and the bots too. I guess they had to understand Chewie tho cause someones gotta take over as his leader. Funny that the people knew what that ball and top was saying. Do any know what R2 is saying besides C3PO in OT?

I don’t understand how people keep getting stop motion and claymation confused.

Where were you in '77?

I forgot that people could understand the robots in TFA. I didn’t like that.

Maybe the new Republic requires everyone to take a droid language class in elementary school? Or perhaps BB units are easier to understand? 😉

IIR only Ray could understand droid. I understood it as some subconscious force power.

I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.

Poe also seemed to understand BB-8. Luke relied on a translator screen in his X-Wing though.

Huh. You’re right. I guess I got that perception based on the fact that she also instantly understood Chewbacca. I don’t see how she would’ve had enough contact with droids or wookiees to understand either. Perhaps Rey’s is some kind of force connection while Poe’s is trained.

JEDIT: don’t see how Poe learning to understand BB-8 is any different from Han learning to understand Chewie.

For some reason I seem to recall some people in the OT, or at least deleted scenes, being able to communicate with droids, but now that I think about it, the ones that spring to mind have a level of one way communication to them, so they could be disregarded.

Luke kinda talks to Artoo on Yavin before the Death Star attack (when the tech asks if he’d rather use another droid), but it’s a pretty simple exchange (and it kinda feels like Luke doesn’t really understand Artoo’s reply).

That’s the only one I can think of.

The big one I was thinking of was from a deleted scene, wherein Luke is watch the battle over tatooine before running off to tosche station to show his friends. He talks to the droid he’s with, but again, it’s a simple exchange of Luke trying to tell the droid to “Get it in Gear,” before leaving it for scrap. In the radio play it was expanded to a full conversation but still seems to be a little one sided.

Yeah, I always felt like most people in the Star Wars universe could get the general gist of what droids intended more than perhaps their exact meaning.

Is it just me, or does the adult Ahsoka from Rebels kinda resemble the actress Kathryn Gordon?

Author

I see the resemblance in the nose, but Ahsoka’s lips and eyes (probably from stylization) seem larger.

It might be angle, but the cheeks on Kathryn’s face seems lik they’re shaped slightly different.

Huh? Rey is the only character that could understand BB-8 because of her upbringing.

EDIT:

Poe probably understood Binary too.

So you think they could listen to a fax machine and know what it’s saying? I know they couldn’t talk back, but they could probably know what it’s saying.

C’mon, fax machines aren’t fiction!

And they definitely talk, by the way.
