I think it’s part of the Prequel Apologizing going on right now.

Keep Circulating the Tapes.

If you’re talking about Pablo Hidalgo’s 14 part tweet, it didn’t read like prequel apologetics to me, just clarification.

He does multipart tweets for a number of things. I remember him doing such a multipart tweet on account of why the Death Star didn’t just park next to the fourth moon of Yavin, when simply saying “dramatic tension” is equally valid of an answer.

That aqua-stormtrooper guy in one Marvel UK cover (with arms around Luke) does looks like he’s based on an action figure, even if it’s not one from SW. The color scheme on his uniform is gaudy enough for the Legion of Doom or some other day-glo spandex outfit.

“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”

I felt the same way until he brought up the midi-chlorians and later defended Yoda’s lightsaber.

This is not, btw, intended as a personal attack on Hidalgo. He seems like a decent enough guy.

Yep. If the PT and midichlorians must be a part of the canon, it’s heartening to see it contextualized in this way (and could point to how the Force will be viewed in future installments).

I appreciate his attempt to reconcile midichlorians with what the force was perceived to be in the OT.

I didn’t read any of the tweets, but if you’re clarifying the PT, you’re Prequel Apologizing.

Would James Luceno turning midichlorians into a cool concept count as apologizing?

NuEu is in more of the Miller Lite category. The NuEu ain’t that bad in it’s totality.

Yes.

Yes.

Personally I think James was trying to make the best out of the poor material he was given rather than trying to purposefully deceive people into thinking the idea was good in it’s original form. But that’s just me.

I’ve never read any PT era EU books, so I don’t actually know what Luceno did. However, he should’ve known that any attempt to make meaty-chlorines a “cool concept” is futile.

If you actually read the Darth Plaueis novel I think you will quite surprised. I once shared the same opinion and was gleeful when I discovered that the information people were giving me about the book had merit.

So how have OT fans taken Episode VII? It just came on Starz this weekend and I’m watching it now. I imagine OT fans don’t accept that Kylo Ren stopped a laser blast with the force. That’s a power they didn’t have in the OT. Is there anything else that OT fans won’t accept?

Author

Ok, so I just have to read 114 pages to get the answer to that question.

I personally liked that they actually added something new (sort of). I feel like one of the many things the PT did wrong was not adding any new abilities. Freaking out about Kylo stopping a laser blast is to me like freaking out over Palpatine using Force lightning because it wasn’t in ANH.
When the Force is treated as a fixed set of super-powers it looses it’s sense of magic. You should keep wondering what else it might be capable of.

For the most part, I agree. When he did it, my first reaction was “whoa, crazy” not “ugh, stupid” so it seemed decent to me. Plus it sets up the later scene where he fails to stop another bolt.

Most of us liked TFA, some of us didn’t.

I like that the claymation chess is better animated. Is it really claymation again?
