I can’t imagine a Hutt doing flips or doing the force kick. I’ve never seen a wookie flip either.

lol, Hutts as Jedis? Since Wookies can’t speak english I dunno if they should be Jedi’s either. All the Jedi’s I’ve seen spoke english.
That’s wookieeist.

Wookie’s are certainly capable of flipping. Probably even more so than most physically fit humans
It is rather a strange decision. But strange things resulted from GL’s tenure as Grand High Commissar of Star Wars.

Ha! I love Dave, but that was embarrassing, wasn’t it?
I now want to see someone make a clip of Han hosting the Star Wars awards, with The Emperor and Chewie sitting next to each other.

I always thought of Spice being a Dune thing rather than a Star Wars thing. It’s barely mentioned in the movies.
I never got into Dune so it’s always been Star Wars for me.
I was gonna mention Dune in the original post regardless but couldn’t be arsed.

There were a few angry letters in the SF magazines of the day accusing Lucas of ripping off Dune, among other things.

Well, he ripped off a few movies, but he made it work well. I remember he got the opening scroll from some serials I think and Darth was based off a serial villian too I think.

Good that being a Jedi isn’t about doing flips, then.

I now wish Leia had worn a big red cloak at some point in the OT.
One thing that bugged me is how Chewbacca looked more like Bigfoot than a Wookiee long after the movie was out. It really started when Carmine Infantino took over the book. Han is really rocking that purple though.

I’m more curious why Leia’s cheek has that big pink streak. Blushes don’t work like that, usually, so what does it mean?
And why is Luke’s Sabre Red? And why does r2 have no colour to it?

Gaffe in the colouring process.

Same answer as above.
Artoo was essentially monochrome in the early issues. Possibly they only had a black and white stills of him to draw from, or just concept art. (Or perhaps the black panel version used in blue screen shots?) One of the Hasbro comic packs replicated this look.

The mostly colorless version of Artoo shown in the Marvel art above looks similar to the all-silver design for R2-D2 seen in Ralph McQuarrie’s paintings. Maybe that was an additional influence.

I just fired up Star Wars Despecialized for the first time in awhile.

Some of those late-70’s Marvel pin-us were pretty cool looking, although this is one is a tad odd compared to some of the other ones;

At least he didn’t look like this;

I think those are from the British weekly issues. It ran in black and white. I dig a lot of the original covers the “extra” issues got.
Some were a tad misleading.
Actually found a batch of them in an antique shop in the 80’s. Someone had thoughtfully colored many of the interior pages with magic markers though.

I recall the one with the weird looking Falcon being used in one of the many reprintings of the movie adaptation though.
