So? What does that have to do with it? Spending the rest of his teenage life not watching three specific terrible films doesn’t exactly sound like a heavy chore. I probably won’t watch the PT again for even more time than that.

(I would also assume that “watching the PT” refers to actually sitting down in front of a screen and purposefully watching the entirety of the film; not just watching a 2 min. YouTube clip to remember something, etc.)

Eh… I still don’t know why it would be difficult to do. I don’t think I’ve watched through ROTS in about five years.

Darths & Droids is currently doing the bit from ROTJ where Leia meets Wicket. The Ewoks are presented as Randians (ie, Objectivist free-market ideologues who rail against stormtrooper “Communist scum”).

Which is hilarious on multiple levels if you know what GL planned for the Yavin scenes in the 1974 rough draft.

I heard that GL wanted the Endor battle to be a parody of the Vietnam War, with the Stormtroopers representing America and the Ewoks representing the heroic Viet Kong. He also meant for Darth Vader to represent Richard Mo Nixon and the Emperor to represent Betty Ford.

In all seriousness, I did actually here that it was a sympathetic metaphor for the Viet Kong vs. U.S. soldiers.

“You’re gonna die here, you know. Convenient.”

Shouldn’t Han already know that? I guess that’s what Luke meant as in “we’ve both been to this planet, after all”, but the way he delivers it makes it sound like this should be news to Han. And joking or not, what is convenient about dying in the same place that you lived in at some point in your life among several other places? Also did Han really believe he was gonna die right then and there? I guess death is only a serious matter if it involves getting frozen first.

I don’t know, its one of those lines that makes sense if you don’t think about it but its kind of amusing how little thought went into it.

That always disturbed me too. I guess maybe it’s assumed that Han was just passing through and rarely spent time on the planet. According to the SE though Han frequently met up in hanger bays to chat with a terrible-looking, fake, cartoon Jabba the Hutt.

In The Making of a Saga documentary, Lucas said he was influenced by his early involvement with Apocalypse Now, in having a primitive culture that overcomes a technological one. (Which was going to be Wookiees originally.) Nothing was said about it meaning anything more than that.

I know, I guess just enjoy being miserable about things that are perfectly fine from time to time. Gotta get it all out. Gotta call something a Mary Sue.

That makes sense. I actually heard it from a friend in high school who insisted that George Lucas was a communist. He was a bit weird though.

The Seventies were a more extreme time.

Can’t be true, Kylo had Jedi training and he didn’t know how to properly hand over a lightsaber, either.
