WHICH FARGO CHARACTERS WERE USELESS
IF THE ANSWER IS THE COMPUTER IN JERRYS OFFICE I WILL CUT YOU DEEP
I heard that Revenge of the Sith has better effects than Civil War. Is that true?

Maybe it was your Mirror universe counterpart talking.

UNLESS YOURE DURACELL YOURE STEALING NO ONES BIT
Captain America: Civil War (2016): 7/10
I liked it so much more watching it a second time. I actually cared about the characters and was entertained for one thing. It still has flaws, but I don’t think they outweigh the good things.
Glad that you liked it more the second time. I was wondering if you still maintain that the colors sucked in the film? I thought they were so bland
Shit just went from 3 to 7 real fucking fast

I thought the colours were very bland, especially during the airport scene, which was so much more entertaining the second time around.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE COLARS
The colars were tight … and very stimulating.
Empire Strikes Back: 9/10
I enjoy this movie more and more everytime I watch it, it’s nearly a perfect film.
Return of the Jedi: 7.5/10
The movie really is a mixed bag, I love the Tatooine scenes and the Death Star scenes but other than that it’s pretty lame. The ewoks, the lack of violence, the boring dialogue/exposition scenes and some pretty bad sets and special effects really drag it down. Most of this is redeemed by some great moments but there is some stuff that increasingly becomes harder to look past. I think TFA is actually better than iton my ranks now.

Between Amazon Prime and the free movies section of Xfinity On Demand, I suddenly find myself with access to about half of the James Bond films. It’s been years since I’ve seen any besides the Daniel Craig ones, so I’ve decided to revisit as many as I can before they’re eventually taken away. So far I’ve watched . . .
From Russia With Love - 3 1/2 stars. This is basically the platonic ideal of an early Bond film. Pacing is better than I remembered, gadgets are neat but not over the top, locations are varied, villains are cool, supporting characters are charming, and the art direction is stylish as all hell. The only things that bothered me were the rather lame characterization of Tatiana Romanova and the weirdly sinister implied lesbianism of Colonel Klebb. I know it’s just values dissonance between a 1963 film and my 2016 sensibilities, but understanding that doesn’t make it any less cringe-y. Still, the good far outweighs the bad, and I’m comfortable saying this is one of the very best in the franchise.
Goldfinger - 3 stars. Maybe 3 1/2, but I do think it’s a tiny bit below FRWL. The good: greatest theme song of all time. Some of the most iconic imagery of the whole series (golden body, crotch laser, etc.). A kickass Bond girl in Pussy Galore who succeeds as a character in all the areas Tatiana Romanova failed. That Aston Martin. The bad (or rather, the “meh”): the pacing’s a little wonky; the whole back half of the movie where Bond is Goldfinger’s captive is very stop-and-go. It also doesn’t quite scratch that “globe-spanning adventure” itch the way the previous film did. The Switzerland stuff is very nice, but once we get to Kentucky things get kind of drab. I did like the Fort Knox interiors though.
I’m going to try to go in release order, skipping those that aren’t available. Sadly, Dr. No isn’t currently available so I was unable to begin at the beginning, but the rest of the Connery films are up, along with On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, so I’ll at least be able to get up to the start of the Roger Moore era without any more omissions.
And oh yeah, I’m using a Roger Ebert-style four-star system now.

7.5 out of ten equals mostly pretty lame?

Thunderball - 2 stars. This movie has some stunning visuals going for it (there’s nothing quite like Technicolor in the tropics), but little else. Domino may not be as pathetic as Tatiana was, but after Pussy Galore I’d like to expect more from a Bond girl. Fiona was cool, but I feel like she could have been more fleshed out. Same goes for Largo. Really, I’d probably have been more into these characters if I didn’t have Goldfinger in recent memory to compare it to. Anyway, the pacing drags in places, and the limitations of underwater photography in the 1960s prevent the action scenes from ever developing any real tension. Still, it’s marvelous eye candy.

Well, if you convert it to a percentage it’s 75%, which is a C if you then convert that to letter grades.
Year of the Devil - 5 stars
Amazing mockumentary. At times I wasn’t sure where reality stops and fiction begins.

My brain just collapsed into a black hole.
After 38 years on the planet with 34 of them having my ears prick up at the mention of the name George Lucas I’ve somehow never seen “American Graffiti”. Today I watched it for the very first time.
I knew it had good reviews, cars and lil’ Ronnie Howard but nothing else. I was blown away and was smiling from beginning to end. The cars, the dialogue, the actors, the colours, the humour, the soundtrack! The only thing I didn’t like were the unnecessarily depressing captions at the end.
I usually see a film at least twice before buying it to keep but I’m ordering the blu ray come payday! I can’t wait to watch it again.
I feel both sad to have missed out seeing this decades ago and also glad to still be finding something new and wonderful just sitting there waiting to be found.
Was that a young Harrison Ford in a cowboy hat?! Despite his jaw not looking wide enough that was a big surprise. I must’ve missed his name in the credits.
(The casual use of the word “snatch” to describe the ladies was a bit shocking though - it has a much coarser meaning in my country!)
George Lucas’ career really would’ve been something special if he’d spent it making movies as alive and fun as this one.

It has the same meaning here as there. They aren’t using “snatch” to describe the ladies themselves.

Phew! It did kind of take me out of the movie for a second (delicate soul that I am).
Iron Man - 4 stars
Mostly good movie.
The ending was too abrupt.
The villain can’t hit an immobile target half a meter away from him.
Gwyneth Paltrow can’t act for shit.

Well it isn’t mostly lame but there are moments. Nostalgia also plays into this heavily. I really like the movie and would reccomend it to anyone but when critiquing it I can’t see past the issues.

The Bourne Supremacy: 8.5/10
This movie really keeps me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. Any other movie that attempts at recreating this same style normally turns out to be extremely boring. Overall a very well done film with a great soundtrack by John Powell and some of the most suspenseful scenes ever filmed. My only complaint is that it is lacking a climax, IMO the movie didn’t feel like it ever actually ended.
The Last Crusade: 8/10
Not much to say about this one, I love Indy and the third installment in the franchise has the most heart.

What an amazing rollercoaster of a movie.
