Don’t you mean excessive violence?

In my book, if there’s not blood, it’s not violence

Even early Tarantino wasn’t excessively violent like Kill Bill, Django, and The Hateful 8, which actually depict more blood and gore than is realistic for the given situations. Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction had blood, sure, but it was realistic levels for the violence at hand. Star Wars is certainly violent, but not bloody, as most of the wounds are caused by lasers.

The Alan Dean Foster ghosted SW novelization actually gets graphic in it’s depiction of blaster hits. A tad gruesome when I was a kid!

I specifically remember a description of a stormtrooper’s helmet melting along with the flesh after being shot on Tantive IV, with bone even being visible. That’s stark contrast to the mostly family-friendly movie.

Well, early drafts of the film was far more violent than the final cut, so he probably got these descriptions from that. The Tantive shootout is quite gruesome in the original storyboards.
Heck, even ANH was censored slightly in the SE.

Some of Tavoularis’ storyboards for the Tantive IV scene;

That’s the part I was thinking of. There was also Red Leader ruminating on the fact some of his pilots could end up chunks of frozen meat orbiting Yavin. One passage that was really terrifying to me at the time was the description of troopers and other Imperials on the Death Star being sucked out a hull breach, into “a bottomless black tomb”.

What’s hilarious to me now is I got the novel at a book fair held at my elementary school. 😃

Yeah, all those women in physically abusive relationships – I’m sure they’re just fine and dandy as sour candy as long as their partners are careful enough not to draw blood.

Believe it or not, that’s still the law in some countries.

He’d better be able to pull off Ford’s mannerisms and voice perfectly, 'cause he sure as Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory looks nothing like Ford in this or any closely related reality.

They just had to cast someone whose jaw structure is twice as wide as Ford’s. 😉

Tarantino movie without violence? That’s like a David Lynch movie without midgets or a George Lucas movie that stays the same after its theatrical release. It just doesn’t compute.

I think Marvin and Mr. Orange would disagree.

Eh…I’m willing to give him a shot but I’m not immediately impressed. Still think Ingruber was the way to go.

Tarantino movie without violence? That’s like a David Lynch movie that makes sense.

Didn’t Rogue One wrap up shooting months ago? This supposed cameo sounds more like ill-informed speculation than anything else.

I think Alen Ehrenreich is a bad choice. Anyone is a bad choice. This movie shouldn’t exist. There are some roles which should never ever be recast, and Han Yolo is one of them.

Alden Ehrenreich might very well be a great choice. Can’t say for sure. Based on what little I’ve seen of him, he’s definitely talented, but I wouldn’t immediately consider him for this role. Still, if he was cast, it’s not without a reason.

Glad they didn’t just pick a lookalike to please the fanboys. Didn’t Harrison Ford say a while back (paraphrasing) that the new Han Solo needs to not be an impression?
