Shaun of the Dead 6.5?! I must hear more.

Ed’s character was too obnoxious to live (or un-die, for that matter). Otherwise, it was a solid movie.

Raiders Of The Lost Ark (1981) – A

One of the local cinemas where I live is showing all three Indiana Jones films over the next couple weeks. I went to see Raiders last night. It was great to watch on the big screen, but I have to say, I can’t stand the theater.

The cinema is part of the Marcus Theater chain, and for all the films I’ve seen in one of their cinemas, I have the same problems with the presentation. They run their digital projectors on some weird setting (probably default), where the video is run with some sort of ‘smooth motion’ thing going on, so a film that runs at 23.975 fps looks like it’s going 30-60 fps, like having a smooth refresh rate on a TV, but I don’t know if it was the same thing. All I can say is that it made it difficult to enjoy a film that I truly love to watch. The image also appeared to be zoomed, as there was definitely stuff missing on the sides and top, but I can’t be 100% sure how much. This paragraph probably belongs in the b*tching thread.

I also think that the projector had some odd colour settings, because it appeared to be the BD master (I could definitely see the dulled highlights and usually the orange faces), but for some reason the sand and rocks in the desert scenes looked a lot more yellow than the orange you get on the BD, and the Nazi flags looked more their proper red.

SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.

I watched the second Silent Hill film because I only just found out there was one.

It’s really shit.

The sad part is that there are probably people who don’t know there is a book.

So they think it’s just called “The Jungle?” 😉

They only know the animated film in the same way some people don’t realize there are a ton of Oz books, which are very different and darker than the beloved MGM version.

I remember how the Scarecrow broke the necks of several crows in the book, and the Tin Man chopped the heads off of the flying monkeys with his axe. The slippers were also silver!

I loved how one of them, can’t remember which, nearly cried when stepping on a bug, then proceeded to kill a ton of other animals with no remorse.

It was self defense.

One of the biggest changes between the book and movie was that Dorothy had actually seduced a local politician, and Mrs. Gulch (the wife of said politician) arrived to confront Auntie Em over that, and not the dog. I was also surprised to read that Dorothy killed the witch by shooting her in the back with a revolver instead of pooring water on her.

I think MGM made the right decision to make the story more family friendly in those respects, although it is still pretty terrifying.

The funny thing about the movie is, the Toto situation is unresolved in the end. Unless Miss Gulch bought it during the twister, she’ll be coming back with the sheriff.

Some of the silent film versions included in the original 3 disc Wizard Of Oz Blu Ray, (some made by L. Frank Baum himself) are closer to the dark aspects of the books.

This is the End (2013): 7/10

A lot of the jokes didn’t hit home, and at times it felt as if the actors were making themselves out to be these really great people, but I quite enjoyed the film anyway.

The World is not Enough (1999): 7/10

Call me crazy, but I quite liked it. Sure Christmas Jones was an absolutely terrible love interest, and the plot was pretty muddy, but on the other hand we have the excellent music and action, and the great villains.

Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999): 5/10

Meh, it could be much, much worse (Think: Attack of the Clones).

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015): 7/10

I like it even more this time. The story, while copied pretty much beat for beat from A New Hope, worked, and the characters are fun and memorable.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982): 9/10

Very fun, all the actors were great, music was great, villain was absolutely brilliant, a little overacting here and there, but extremely great.

Goldfinger (1964): 9/10

Take notes MCU; this is how you make a fun filled romp.

Casino Royale (2006): 9/10

Take notes DCCU; this is how you make a gritty reboot.

I always suspected that the wicked and evil Miss Gulch was sucked into the tornado. May God have mercy on her wretched soul.

I’ve seen people rank it behind Tomorrow Never Dies and Die Another Day, and I can’t for the life of me figure out why.

I actually like Tomorrow Never Dies. I think it and TWINE are both underrated.

Michelle Yeoh is one of my favourite Bond girls… There’s something about an attractive woman that could kick the living shit out of you. (Except those muscle ladies that TheBoost likes). Being a Hollywood movie, she may have had a stunt double, but she would be one of the few Bond stars who could have done it without one.

TASM 2 is by no means a good movie but really? At least TASM 2 had more emotional scenes and better action then spiderman 3

Take out the emo scenes out of S3 and you have a good movie.

Take out 9/10ths of TASM 2 and you have a good movie

That was the best part of the movie!
