What?! I’ve actually been saying why I don’t think it’s racist. You posting that doesn’t help your argument, because I could’ve posted the same link to support my argument (not really, but by your logic in posting it, I could’ve). You didn’t show me anything that the Neimoidians resemble.

The point was that you posted the video claiming that they ‘clearly sound like Asian accents’, when I could have posted that same video with my only argument to go along with it being: ‘They clearly have little relation to a stereotypical Asian accent’. Now, provide an example of a stereotype that presents an accent that is directly comparable to the Neimoidians, and I may consider your opinion further.

I will no longer make my arguments to you until you provide an actual argument.

I guess I’m being thick, so please explain to me again what your argument was.

That’s not what I’m talking about. I’m asking you to provide an example of an accent that is comparable to the Neimoidians accents for me to listen to and examine. If you continue to just say “It’s obvious”, I’m not going to consider agreeing with you about the subject.

And that’s why I was asking him to provide a specific example of “Engrish” so that I can see how obvious it is. And even then, Nute Gunray is the only one that could remotely be heard to have an Asian accent.

That’s because you weren’t producing evidence. Merely saying that it’s obvious isn’t evidence, plain and simple.

One reason why people might not think the accent is “Asian” (I think it sounds specifically Japanese) is because they may be judging the accent based on Japanese people who speak fairly fluent English. The accent, specifically the inflections and rhythm pretty much sound exactly like a middle aged Japanese guy who doesn’t speak English trying to speak English (it happens often in Japan).

Most Japanese in the media will have worked on their pronounciations and fluency, but everyday people obviously don’t.

I don’t even think it sounds like that fake Engrish crap I see people make fun of. It’s actually a fairly accurate “impersonation” (I don’t think this was Lucas’s intent).

I thank you for your additions to this ‘discussion’. You’ve shown actual reasons for me to believe you. I’m still waiting for that proof, Haseo 😉.

2+2=4 is proof in and of itself. I was asking for a specific example of the accent. Like when you mentioned South Park, why didn’t you link to a video of what you were referring to?

Quite a stupid argument had ensued, but it’s all good now. I think we’ve cooled off. Opinions are opinions, and when all I’m asking for is a specific reference and the opposing won’t provide it, what can I do but continue asking for it or just give up? 😉
