STAR WARS: REBELS (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread — Page 46

Well if you stop saying inane things then I will stop being a thorn. If you don’t like the movie that’s fine, but saying something like Han is useless is fallacious and I’m not just going to ignore something like that. Don’t like it? Well tough titty.

Back to eyebrows: would you believe they actually acknowledge this on starwars.com on the episode page?!

“Although the final cut of Return Of The Jedi has an eyebrow-less unhelmeted Darth Vader, to better read in animation, the animation model has the dark brow visible through the cracked helmet.”!

Somebody appears to be using the term “final cut” in the Blade Runner sense.

“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”

THAT final theme. Just Wow.

It should be used in edits of ROTS.

From the first viewing (should I say hearing), I can’t get out of my head that if I was the one to name it, I’d say that score should be called “Will of the Force”. Again, it’s tragic, but its sober and heroic, all at once. It has (difficult to express in a non native language) some kind of solemnity that makes it very fit for grand events which are determined by Fate.

ROTS should end on that note. Not as it stands now with QuiGonn’s funeral theme grieving on Anakin’s decissions as if those decissions had been truly his, but more with a sense of “these things happened because they were meant to be from the very beginning. This is how cards unfold”. I guess this angle was chosen on rebels exactly because we knew what inevitably was going to happen with Ahsoka, and the music sort of supports perfectly that very concept of greek tragedy, unavoidable fate has come to be for master and apprentice.

From a certain point of view, that should be the spirit of Anakin’s journey.

Filoni should be in charge of a Star Wars movie, preferentely featuring Anakin Skywalker. He has proven to be worthy of that more than anyone close to Star Wars in recent times. He has what it takes to redeem the character.

Just saw this, that is an arrangement of Ahsoka’s theme, called “It’s Over Now”

Sounds quite good I confess:

A soundtrack album when the series is over would be very much welcome, with the most dynamic and original pieces included (not really convinced by the SW theme reprises and the strange James Horner’s Rocketeer ripped-off/hommage).

I have rewatched most of season 2, and overall this second season is weaker that the first one: too much filler with not enough material. 13 episodes for S1, 20 for S2, wasn’t a great idea to extend the number of episodes (I especially dislike the sequel of Children of the Force, which was a very poor arc of TCW). The opening season is very good (with a badass Vader destroying half the rebel fleet all by himself) and the conclusion is strong. Sarah Michelle Gellar laugh is always nice 😄 (not as impressive as Hamill’s Joker however). Still a good series though, but could have been greater.

Saw the clip on The Star Wars Show earlier. I’m really excited for Season 3 now.

Same, looks like they’re taking a more dark route, which I’m all for. Ezra didn’t even hesitate to shoot that stormtrooper. I also like his redesign, my friend used to call him ‘anime hair guy’. I’m just excited because that article was right about the Luke/Obi-Wan styled lightsaber and the shorter hair, so Thrawn is pretty likely.

Things that excited me:

Ezra’s new look (I’m reminded a bit of Taxi Driver when De Niro shaves his head and shit gets real).
Ezra has a real blaster now, and he uses it liberally (looks like a Rebels-styled DL-44?).
Ezra has a real lightsaber now, and it’s green! (sounds different than a normal saber, too, intriguing…)
People get hit with lightsabers a lot.
Hondo.
An Ugnaught gets blown up.
It just feels darker.

Why is the Ugnaught willing to break a deal because he couldn’t have a double chair?

EDIT: Or am I mishearing and he said double share?

How much later should it take place after season 2?

I would imagine only a few months, six at the most.

Rebels Season Three Trailer

That. Was. INCREDIBLE.

Thirty seconds in when they revealed Wedge I thought he was going to be the character I was most excited to see. Holy shit I’ve never been happier to be wrong.

Holy shit. Thrawn’s back.

I’m a big fan of Kanan’s redesign.

Looks nice. Maybe if I knew who Thrawn is / was / should be I would be as excited as you guys, but I still think it looks nice

This has been rumored for a while, but I found myself thinking the other day “yeah, it’ll be cool to have Thrawn back, but it’s a shame they don’t bring Zahn in to do a canon novel about him”. That book has shot to the top of the list of upcoming Star Wars stuff I’m excited about. The only Celebration reveal that could possibly top it for me would be an OUT blu-ray announcement.

Holy crap. Just watched the trailer.

Kanan looks cool (Sabine painted some Mandalorian Jaig eyes on his mask!)
Freaking WEDGE defecting (with Sabine, according to Tobar)
Y-Wings (Tobar says that the whole base and everything is taken from a West End Games scenario)
Battle Droids! Neat!
A YT-2400!
More Mandalorians. It’s cool because they were originally Imperial Supercommandos, which is what these guys are. Very exciting!
Dark. Freaking. Troopers. If they have the Arc Hammer I will lose my mind. If Kyle Katarn shows up, I’m sold forever.
Tarkin’s back!
Cham’s back!
Maul’s back!
TIE Interceptors (with red stripes)!
Nightsister magic?
The Bendu (Bindu) looks amazing. Definitely going to be seeing some really trippy Mortis/Korriban level stuff in this series.
Sabine gets the darksaber!
Scout Troopers!
More Inquisitors? Sith spirits? HMM!

And of course, Thrawn.

I’m a bit in the minority with him. By the end of the Thrawn trilogy, I hated the character because he’s just too perfect and infallible and it gets really stupid. Hopefully Rebels will turn him into a decent character, though. I’m more interested by the precedent it sets: if Thrawn can be recanonized, who’s next? We could get Mara Jade or who knows. That’s what’s really exciting to me.

I want to see Maul with the darksaber again.
