Han - Solo Movie ** Spoilers ** — Page 7

You have an actor who not only looks and sounds the part, but has already played the younger version of Harrison Ford’s character in a movie. Why would they not at least want to take a look at the guy?

Was I the only one who found Ingruber’s youtube impressions of Han Solo to be profoundly off putting? Maybe it’s just that posting video of yourself imitating Harrison Ford is pretty much the least Harrison Ford move I can think of. I know it’s dumb to judge the guy based on a ninety second webcam video, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. When I see that, I think “this guy’s really worked on his Harrison Ford pose” rather than “this guy genuinely evokes Harrison Ford”.

If this is to be believed, the casting has been narrowed down substantially: http://makingstarwars.net/2016/03/final-shortlist-of-actors-for-han-solos-story/

Ehrenreich and Egerton have both been mentioned in this thread already, if memory serves. I don’t think I’ve seen a single movie with any of these guys so I can’t pretend to have much of an opinion, but I don’t think Reynor looks nearly as much like Harrison as the other two.

EDIT: that’s a bad photo of Reynor, he’s much closer to Ford in his IMDB photo.

As long as Miles Teller is out of the running I can breath a little easier.

I want to see Corellia, and I want Greedo, Bossk, Dengar and Fett to cross paths. I would also like to see a CAMEO of Jabba the Hutt at the end.

Anyone else want to see any of these characters?

Amen to that. That would have been a deal breaker for me. I’d rather have Michael Cera play a young Han than him.

I love Michael Cera. But he ain’t no Han Solo.

He’s the spitting image!

To me no one else but Harrison will truly be Han. The guy who does the pretty good impression is the only one I can see coming close.

I have a bad feeling about this!

This is one of those movies that I wish they wouldn’t make. I will be super tempted to see it, but at the same time, I don’t want to ruin all of the mystery and excitement about Han’s past life by having it all spelled out for us. I am totally fine with Rogue One because it is a side story and there is no real existing mystery or past to it that will be spoiled. It’s the same thing with Boba Fett. People liked him so they just had to bring him back for the prequels and ruin the mystery.

Chewbacca being a Wookiee (who live for centuries) means he ages at a different rate to Han. One of those interesting character questions unique to SF&F.

In the OT we were catching Han and Chewie at the moment when they were both the same age (So to speak). Equals, brothers in arms. In TFA Han is much older than Chewie and we see Chewie making sure Han wraps up warm against the cold, like a caring son. So in a young Han Solo movie will Han relate to Chewie as something of a big-brother, or even a father figure?

That’s quite an interesting angle to their relationship that has never occurred to me before.
I seem to recall Lucas having planned to include a young Han on Kashyyyk in ROTS where Chewie undoubtedly would have been a sort of father figure to a 12-ish year old Han. So even Lucas seem to have thought about this side to their age/aging difference.
So I hope the directors of the new Han Solo film realises this and make Chewie seem older in his personality. It would be interesting to see a young Han Solo following Chewie around, as opposed to Chewie just being the “side-kick”.

I don’t think this will happen. I think Obi-wan is a more likely next spin off.

That (Ingruber) Harrison Ford impersonator is probably going to be in Indiana Jones first with Harrison old man talking and having flash backs.

Thats my best guess.

But he might make Rogue one if they can make him look old enough.

Considering they have officially announced this spin off, have directors, a writer and are currently casting Han Solo my guess would be its happening.

EDIT:
I agree with your thought about Obi Wan spinoff. I always have hated the idea of a Han Solo spinoff. We might get a Kenobi spinoff in 2020 though

If this is handled well, it could end up great. Tarantino movie in space (without the violence, obviously). If it’s not, wel…

In my book, if there’s not blood, it’s not violence

You sound like quite the catch.

Yeah, all those women in physically abusive relationships – I’m sure they’re just fine and dandy as sour candy as long as their partners are careful enough not to draw blood.
