Perhaps he’ll be confirmed Plagueis in said DisnEU material, but I just don’t see it happening in the movies, even if only for the reason that no casual viewer would know or care who Plagueis is.

It’s possible but it would be kind of insulting to omit such a crucial detail in the films for the sake of not confusing people who have a less than rudimentary knowledge of the franchise. And yes, I am speaking as an entitled Star Wars aficionado.

I had no idea who Palegeus was. Had to Google it back when this theory was first brought up. Nobody cares about the PT and the ST has no need to contaminate it’s self with that crap.
And liking some bad movies doesn’t entitle you to anything. :p

I don’t know the extent of your Star Wars knowledge but I’m sure anyone who has seen the PT recently would at least recognize the name.

Seeing as how James Luceno made Plagueis into a fantastic character it wouldn’t hurt to have him in the ST and if written right it would the Star Wars Saga all the better.

When the fuck have I ever said I liked the PT? Don’t put words in my fucking mouth man.

Haven’t seen 'em in about 10 years. Won’t see 'em again.

Liking decent movies doesn’t entitle you to anything either.
And it was a joke.
Calm down.

Ok to all of that.

Can we table the Snoke/Plagueis speculation until we get more actual information from either leaks from the set or nuEU material? There hasn’t been anything real for or against this theory in months, and the discussion is getting profoundly tiresome as a result. I’m sure there’ll be something to pick apart in Claudia Grey’s Bloodline, but until then, I think everything there is to say has already been said.

Some set photos from Dubrovnik showing costumes and what looks to be a speeder:
http://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/2016/03/first-look-at-troopers-from-the-starwars-episodeviii-set-in-dubrovnik.html

The aurebesh on the guards’ helmets says “CBPD”. I’m seeing some people suggesting that it could be Han’s funeral procession, but that sounds like nothing more than wild speculation to me. In any case, someone on reddit pointed out that the guards seem to be pretty clearly based on this McQuarrie design:

It’s not too wild a speculation that we’ll see Han’s funeral, based on this picture of Carrie Fisher in what could be a mourning dress.

They’ve also borrowed from several other McQuarrie concept drawings for whatever it is that Dubrovnik turns out to be in the film;

There’s also been rumours about Mark Hamill being in Dubrovnik, so it could be that he decides to attend Han’s funeral, and undoubtedly something dramatic will happen when both he and Leia, and presumably also Rey and/or Poe is there.

If Dubrovnik happens to be a Naboo city, and if Rey is related to Luke, would be quite cool to see them in front of Padmé’s grave (with a light-saber mark on it, something Vader would have done passing by between III and IV).

That would be great so long as they don’t fixate on it. It should definitely be something in the background.

They can’t fixate about that anyway, because of the inconsistency between III and VI (“Leia didn’t get the question that’s all, no way she can remember our mother !”).

I for one am amused by the idea of Luke Skywalker throwing Han Solo’s funeral procession into chaos.

Well in Shattered Empire (I think) Leia felt some sort of connection to a picture of Queen Amidala. Plus I’m sure by the time Leia and Han conceived they had been told by Luke about Anakins history. Assuming they kept in contact.

The funeral would be an opportune time for The First Order and/or The Knights of Ren to attack our heroes.

I was thinking more along the lines of a First Order attack (or as Haseo suggested, a Knight of Ren attack, which would make sense with Luke out of hiding)

There’s some really wacky-looking aliens here;

And there’s this weird speeder thing which to me looks like a cross between a sports-car and a Star Trek ship.

It looks like PHANTOM MENACE and ATTACK OF THE CLONE material to me. Some kind of assassination attempt made against a high class society (local senate stuff ?). Seems Disney is going to get inspired by the PT for this Ep VIII. And I see they are still recycling McQuarrie’s concepts (which is great but sad at the same time).

Although I agree that the speeder looks a bit AOTC-like I’m not too sure about these people being high society, at least not in the PT sense with Padme/politicians. They look more like gangsters to me. I mean look at the guy at the left of the top picture, he looks like a gangster caricature in alien-form.
Plus, weird looking or not, I’m not going to judge the designs too harshly before I’ve seen them in a more comprehensible context. And those guards/soldiers from the McQuarrie drawings looks pretty cool and OT-like.

I’m warming to the idea of this being Han’s funeral. Does this mean we’re going to Corellia?! I’d really love that. I think the only time I’ve seen Corellia depicted visually was in Star Wars Galaxies, and in that it was just sort of vaguely Earth-like, so Dubrovnik wouldn’t be a huge stretch (assuming they’re sticking with the same general idea and not doing a complete redesign like Kessel in Rebels). I’m not itching to see Tatooine or Bespin again any time soon, but it would be cool if the ST takes us to some OT planets that were name dropped but never seen rather than sticking to completely new places like TFA did.

That’s something I’d love to see too, but I’m wondering why Han would warrant a big fancy funeral filled with gangsters. Was he really that we’ll respected a smuggler? Then again we don’t know exactly what he’s been up to in the thirty years between ROTJ and TFA.

Cloud City began life as a McQuarrie concept for the imperial city of Alderaan in 1975. It was recycled for Empire. I think the nearby floating platform added for the SE was another old design they dusted off. Waste not, want not. 😃

He’s still the guy who helped Luke blow up the Death Star. A decorated war hero.

He also was instrumental in disabling the deflector shield in the Battle of Endor. As far as I’m concerned Han deserves a goddamn statue.

And he helped take out the Starkiller, so that’s three.
