Update: I never heard back from towne, and since it’s now Feb. 15, I can only assume the answer was no.

Hi guys. I need advice setting up my home theater sound. Are there any audio enthusiasts here, who could help? Thread here.

Question: Can anyone point me in a direction if they know if RotJ v. 2.5 is out as a NTSC DVD yet? The Blu-Ray set is turning out to be awesome (thanks Harmy and FrankT). However, my truck has a DVD player for longer car rides and I’m going to make a set for the kids to have in the car. For those that have been around here a lot longer than I, after a new Harmy file drop - about how long did it take for the NTSC version to start showing up?

First thanks for the hard work Harmy and everyone else involved. Great stuff.

But I need some clarification. I DL from a certain paradoxical site. The rar says “harmy…v2.5-Avchd…” but when I extract the iso reads “rotj…v2.0_avchd”

So there’s a mistake somewhere
Either
1 the new 2.5 avchd iso was not renamed to 2.5 before it got packed into the correctly named .rar
Or
2 the 2.0 avchd work print iso was by mistake packed into a rar labeled 2.5 and posted.

Looking for clarification thanks

By the way my extracted iso size is 8,440,446,976 if that helps

Thanks

Doh - You know I read Harmy’s post, but I didn’t recall when I read it. My search words must be off as was checking tehp and I know it’s not up on spleen yet (which I thought was unusual). Thanks for replying!

File name is wrong. If you play that .iso file
you’ll see 2.5 in the despecialized credits at the end

Watched this with my best pal last night. We’ve never seen the blurays and are mostly used to seeing the films from the original VHS boxset.
we’re blown away by the quality! Several times while watching we both started laughing out loud just because it looks so clean and clear! The space battle stuff is amazing! Also we both noticed for the first time that R2 has a little part that sprays water when he gets shot on Endor. Neat!
Thanks so much Harmy!

I’m having trouble downloading with JDownloader. I keep getting the plugin out of date error. Anyone else getting this? I’m dying to see ROTJ in its original form. No more of that “Jedi rocks” bullshit.

You probably need to update the plugins then. Jdownloader works by having scripts that allow it to navigate all of these file sharing websites and essentially click all the stuff you don’t want to bother to click, so it needs pretty constant updates. Mine usually updates when I close the program, but you might have it switched off in your settings.

Hello all! First, to Harmy: yet another amazing piece of work. I cannot wait to sit down and watch 2.5 all the way through. What I’ve previewed was great! Thank you so much.

On another topic: I cannot locate the NTSC DVD-5 version on tehp, or anywhere really. Does anyone have any advice?

Use Jdownloader 2 - I’ve never had an issue with it. Or check out the Despecialized guide linked in the first post that directs people to a different software to download the files.

It’s in the “Harmy Trilogy” thread with all the movies. It doesn’t have it’s own thread.

No scholar here - look back like 10-15 posts. I asked the same thing 😃
Working now…I just jumped in to read the thread posts.

I was able to access it by doing a Google search. Attempting to get JDownloader functional again.

I would recommend Jdownloader2 - I’ve read of lots of people having issues with just JDownloader. I’ve not had one issue with Jdownloader2 on two laptops now.

I’m using JDL2 now. I so seldom use it, there’s always a bit of an update process. It’s still quite convoluted… I’d be pleased with a Mega link!

I agree it’s a bit of pain - but until you can get on spleen - it’s your best source and frankly I did the DVD5 download there the other night since it’s not on spleen. I downloaded my first Harmy downloads (AVCHDs) from tehp and I forget the movie - but the 40 part download was a killer with all the captchas.

My DVD’s are going to show up from Amazon tomorrow so I will be burning and printing SW/ROTJ…just waiting on ESB. I’m making a set for the car for my kids. Son just walks around the house humming the Imperial March. LOL

That’s what it’s all about. I’m pretty excited to show my as yet non-existent children Star Wars–someday!

I burn the AVCHD versions to DL-DVDs and am as happy as a clam. They look great on my 50" television. I use the DVD-5 version to create tablet rips with Handbrake. I should have been a little more patient, waited for the DVD-5 to hit the Spleen (no one is forcing me to use JDownloader, after all!) but ROTJ is my favorite Star Wars film. I’m excited, and I want every possible version of these preservations…

Also, thanks again for your help. It’ll be finished downloading shortly.

The DVD5s already have pretty heavy mpeg2 compression, so using handbrake to compress them further is a really bad idea - just use handbrake to make re-encodes directly from the MKV or AVCHD - you can set the resolution to the exact resolution of your tablet’s screen and you’ll get much much better quality results with the same or less effort.

As for Mega, the problem with that is that it limits the amount of data you can upload, plus I get much slower upload speed to it.

It does occur to me that the 50gb free version of Mega may be quite limiting when taking your potential usage into account, Harmy!

I know ripping from the VIDEO_TS folder isn’t optimal, but when I attempt to re-encode the larger versions, the resulting file is usually corrupted, or the process itself bombs my Mac. The tablet rips are used primarily on my iPhone 6, while the VIDEO_TS will go straight to a DVD-5 for viewing on an old Panasonic 13" CRT television.

That being said, I haven’t attempted to rip to a screen-specific resolution before. I’ll give it a shot.
