That’s what my friend did. I offered him my wide selection of preservations, but he refused. I didn’t go =)

Well, here’s the scoop: EditDroid (you guys remember EditDroid, right?) is back with a new release…and that release is a previously uncirculated version of the Holiday Special that blows away anything else out there. Some of you may have spotted it by now; it’s up in the usual places.

Believe me when I say that when it comes to quality, this is about as good as it’s ever going to get. Even an official release (as unlikely as that may be) would have a hard time topping this one.

Until we see the real thing, I think this is the definitive one at long last.

I just checked it out. It’s fantastic! Mark Hamill’s makeup somehow looks better as well.

Well I love the EditDroid releases, so it’s time to check it. Thanks for the “spleeny” reminder!

Wow, I was already very impressed with the theatrical showing in Vancouver earlier this month (presumably from the same source that’s been projected there three years in a row). The only obvious flaw I can remember was the short glitch in the Diahann Carroll performance.

If your crop is water, what, exactly, would you dust your crops with?

Awesome! Will check it out when I get back from the in laws. Are you able to say what the source of this specific version is?

great work.looks very good.
but why are the colors of the cockpit scene with han and chewie so low?is there no color correction done?
is there no chance to use the scenes from the dvd/bluray for the space battle, deleted scenes and boba fett comic for a better quality (partly)?

and i found this:

GORGEOUS. Levels of detail that I’ve never seen before.

And to see it with subtitles. It did get a little old seeing subtitles of [Growl] or variations, but there were also bits of dialogue that I’d never heard so clearly as reading along. I always meant to read the script while I watched, but now I didn’t have to.

I don’t know that I agree. The Special, with all its warts, deserves to preserved as it actually was. Sure, some of it looks ghastly in comparison to the HD film, but it might almost be Lucas-y to improve it by bits and pieces.

That glitch has been painstakingly patched over, and it’s really hard to spot where.

From off a master copy, as noted by the lack of commercials and lack of voice-over on the credits.

Is this one up anywhere other than MySpleen? I haven’t been fortunate enough to secure an invite yet.

Yeah the lack of Rifftrax is certainly one of the only downsides IMO.

Thank you for alerting us to the a-Wookiee-ning!

A broadcast-quality Holiday Special! I hoped, but I don’t think I ever expected to see better than the WHIO. This is such a great surprise.

Another real bonus for me is that there’s a clip from my favorite program as a 7-year-old, Captain Cosmic. Awesome!

Merry Christmas!

Would love to see this new version, is there any way to get it without being on MySpleen? Or can someone invite me? I can show other tracker stats if that helps, just seems impossible to access this place!

Why not get it straight from the source?
Get it from where the 'spleen seeder got it: usenet
No invitation needed

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…
