Reason I brought up Hitler is because he is regarded as one of the worst people on earth. I could have put in Charles Manson or Jeffery Dalmer or whatever.

As far as I can remember Manson wrote songs but neither made films.

Have been super busy with work this week but I wanted to weigh in on the newest TV Spot focusing on Finn. I think it’s my favorite one thus far. It’s a pure adrenaline rush! I loved the banter between Han and Finn and his “Hell no” line.

I’ve seen a few grumblings that that language is in Star Wars but my mind immediately went back to Sir Alec Guinness saying “damn fool errand” in SW77. There’s a precedent for real, adult talk in Star Wars.

Also that picture from the Empire piece (that I’m about to read) is really terrifying. Kylo Ren as a character is very wicked looking. Not in an evil silly Darth Maul way (no offense PT lovers) but in a well…Darth Vader way, before ROTJ. He looks like he means business.

Been thinking a lot about that character and I suppose it’s basically common opinion that Kylo Ren and Rey are related (either cousins or siblings, my money is on the latter). I wonder too if the reveal that her brother is indeed the Galaxy’s newest badass won’t come until the 3rd act when his mask is off and he kills their father, Han Solo. Way too much conjecture on my part.

What, if anything, do we know about the alter-ego that was mentioned for Adam Driver known as “Darklighter”. Is he playing both sides or were those all flash backs or maybe just early production ruses?

Kylo have been described as a Darklighter?
Man, wouldn’t that be a twist ending; Kylo Ren being Biggs’ son. Heck, so far he’s been speculated to be the son of practically the entire main cast of the OT, so why not move over to the supporting cast.

I could be wrong but I just remember hearing that somewhere (maybe on MakingStarWars?). Also there was some spy photo that purportedly showed Adam Driver in an X-Wing fighter pilot jumpsuit.

Don’t think anyone’s posted this yet. Here’s a video from that Force for Change thing where they contact donors and Harrison Ford surprises them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mjYjMxZJCg

This is probably the happiest I’ve ever seen Harrison. I now believe his TFA enthusiasm isn’t just about finally getting to die. He seems to genuinely be having a blast.

People keep mentioning that Harrison desperately wants Han to die. But this isn’t true! He’s even said recently in an interview with Kimmel that he only suggested it for Jedi because he believed it would really ramp up the tension, not because he doesn’t like the character.
And I don’t believe Han will die in the new film. I certainly hope he doesn’t. It would have added much needed tension in ROTJ, but now that we’re seeing and older and wiser Han (proven by the trailers) it would be better to have him fade into the background than to crash and burn.
I do think someone’s goin’ down though. I kinda think it will be Finn… I only doubt this because killing the only black character would create a ton of harsh headlines. So maybe he won’t die, but be badly wounded.
Or maybe I’m altogether wrong! That’s the best thing about the new film- Unlike the PT, we gots no idea who will end up where!

Back a few months ago when those Episode VIII casting rumors about Gina Rodriguez and Tatiana Maslany hit, weren’t they supposed to have gone in for chemistry reads with Boyega? If that was true, it would seem like an indication that he’s sticking around. I don’t think they’ll kill anyone new, at least on the Resistance side (Hux is going to eat it, though). None of them have been around long enough for it to have enough resonance; they’re all worth more to the story alive for now.

Famous Monsters of Filmland has a TFA cover and an interview with Mark Hamill. Is this our first official look at Luke, or did FM just go rogue and do their own illustration based on how Mark looks in that leaked photo and/or in recent interviews? Part of me thinks it has to be the latter, but then I think Lucasfilm would have shut it down if that were the case.

Are the words hell and damn really seen as adult language in the US? Forgive me for asking but I’m Scottish 😄

You can say both at least once in a G rated film since the 70’s, so unless someone is really prudish, I kind of doubt it. E.T. allegedly had stronger profanity just to avoid a G rating. There were once fears the all important teen audience would not be caught dead seeing a G rated film.

What is this in reference to?

Last night images from a kid’s coloring book containing lots of plot details came out that basically verified everything from the Making Star Wars spoiler website plot summary for The Force Awakens.

Six months ago when I read the Making Star Wars spoilers I didn’t think they had legitimacy because the story sounded so weak, Luke is barely in it, and it contained yet more hero/villain family feuding drama.

I’m still going to see it, but everything about this movie appears to be a nostalgia trip with very brief baton passings from the original cast.

I saw a TFA coloring book at Walgreen’s last month, and avoided it like the plague. How accurately a coloring book can reflect the actual plot of a movie I have no idea.

Sorry. Not a coloring book actually. A kid’s “look and find” book. I guess like Where’s Waldo. Here’s the link to the images.

EDIT: Disney XD ran another little featurette in the UK. It’s mostly just shots we’ve seen before rearranged, but we do get our first real look at Maz:

It doesn’t look like anyone’s posted a proper capture of it yet, but here’s someone recording it off the TV https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hv3j1077CGw

EDIT 2: ANOTHER new spot with NIEN GODDAMN NUNB https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKA0MeUBbKY

EDIT 3: Replaced link to cell phone video of the TV spot with a proper capture.

I knew there was a reason he randomly appeared in that Princess Leia comic. Though I do wonder if that’s actually him and not just another Sullustan. If so, you gotta feel sorry for the guy. More than 30 years in the service and he’s not a squadron leader yet?

I came across an article earlier today that doesn’t seem worth tracking down again to link to, but the gist was that we’re going to get bombarded with new spots on Thanksgiving. I have to think there was some hyperbole going on, because the article claimed we’ve only seen about “5%” of the marketing campaign, and since we’ve seen six minutes of footage, that math would suggest that they plan on releasing all but 15 minutes of the film before it’s out. Still, if we’ve been getting a couple new spots every week when nothing’s going on, I think it’s safe to assume we can expect something on that most-TV-watchingest of American holidays. I can’t help but think it’s occurred to them that it would be nice to mark the one-year anniversary of that first teaser by releasing something substantial as well.

I remain very optimistic but my greatest fear about VII is that it will be something of reboot, repurposing most everything from the OT, rather than truly building on it.

The blue elephant in the room.

Looks like Disney is really cracking down on sites showing that footage with Maz. They had been pretty cooperative up until this point.
