"There's been a rebellion, sir. Don't worry. The situation is under control. I'm sorry, sir. It's time for you to leave."
Why is he your favorite star wars author?

George Lucas
真実
George Lucas is a who, not a what.
I guess I'd say Zahn as well. He's the only regular SW writer who consistently impressed me.
James Luceno and Mathew Stover
Zahn and Stover.
My least favorite - and it's no contest, because he's so God awful - is definitely Kevin J Anderson.
“I find your lack of faith disturbing.”
Luceno and Lucas.
Karpyshyn get's an honorable mention because of the Darth Bane Trilogy.
because I really like the thrawn trilogy they are my favourite books

The lack of punctuation in this thread is appalling.!.!.!
That people are actually listing Lucas as a favourite writer is even more so.
Brian Daley hands down. He perfectly captured the spirit of the galaxy and his stories were always fun. His work on the radio plays alone and how they expanded the films was brilliant.
I guess it would be Zahn for me too. There's a lot of stuff like the Bounty Hunter Wars and the Han Solo trilogy that I dug quite a bit, but given that Jeter and Crispin never came back and did anything else, I can't really consider them "Star Wars authors" like Zahn is. I guess Luceno gets a mention for being able to string a sentence together better than most of the other guys, but his pacing is usually off. I did like Shadows of Mindor an awful lot, but I haven't read any of Stover's other stuff. My absolute least favorite though was Barbara Hambley. Children of the Jedi was just abominable.
EDIT: I also think Stackpole is pretty overrated. Granted, I only read the first X-Wing book, and that was actually pretty all right, but the duology he did for the NJO (I'm blanking on the name) was powerfully lame. The way he positions his own original character Corran Horn as this super cool guy at the center of everything who everyone loves and is best buds with Luke Skywalker just really rubs me the wrong way, especially because he only gets cameos in other books if he's even mentioned at all.

This is my answer too.
“First feel fear, then get angry. Then go with your life into the fight.” - Bill Mollison
who is the jedi academy guy kevin j anderson that guy is the worst
I haven't read a single Star Wars book that felt anything like the film, so I'm gonna say I don't like any of em.
But, it's been about 20 years since I had any interest in the EU. So there are plenty of authors whom I've never read.
And I'm ok with that. I just don't have much interest in Star Wars outside of the original film and Empire.

Oh, yeah, I do like the radio dramas. Very much. So I'll say this Brian guy is my favorite too.

Undeniably the GOAT. Ady should prohibit everyone from watching ESB:R except for him. He deserves it. He deserves the world.
