I absolutely hope it doesn't look like Kershner would have shot it in the late '70s. The art of cinematography has come leaps and bounds since then...

 No it hasn't.

But your right in that the film shouldn't be shot in a nostalgic way. It would be ok to have the occasional nod to Kurosawa though.

Ok, not posted here yet, so here are some leaked pics of the Lego sets:

I've seen some mixed thoughts on Poe's X-Wing color scheme, but personally I'm a big fan of it. I was also immediately most interested in the guy in the middle of this picture: http://i.imgur.com/wD6dUoX.jpg thinking that maybe it was some new and or important person. Anyone have thoughts on that? However, it may not be that special, as some people are thinking it is merely this guy: http://www.starwars7news.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Jakku-BTS.jpg

I'm pretty sure that the guy you're referring to in the last link is just Finn in disguise.

It also interesting how Phasma doesn't have a textured head under the helmet. We already know who plays the character, so why bother making it a mystery. Makes you wonder if there's something special going on about Phasma.

(I also posted some of these pictures on the forum about a week ago;

I have no problem with the color scheme. My issue is that Poe has a special hero X-Wing just for merchandising purposes.

Luke didn't need a distinct X-Wing in the original series. Poe shouldn't require one either.

Maybe rebel pilots are allowed to detail their ships now the same way their helmets had unique logos in the OT? They aren't the underdogs scrounging to patch old ships together keep them flying anymore.

A more prosaic reason for all fighters to look alike in the OT was you could use Luke's ship for a shot of a different pilot.

Damn, didn't see that. My bad, I normally follow this thread pretty closely. Do you have a particular reason you think it's Finn in disguise? That thought hadn't occurred to me

Well now that I looked at the pictures again it occurred to me that you were probably referring to the two masked guys in the background. Was that the case? Since you said "this guy" I assumed you meant the guy in the foreground with the goggles, which does look like Finn wearing some kind of disguise.

As for the Lego guy with the mask, I have no clue. He doesn't really look like any of the people on the picture to me. Of course it could be that the scene that that picture is from has several masked aliens. We'll just have to wait and see.

I'm honestly not sure what I was referring to, I was just parroting what I read elsewhere haha. With that being said, the more I look, the more I'm really not sure who that guy in the mask is. I guess we'll find out

May the Force be with you.

is it possible that the hooded grey lego character is the Max Von Sydow character?  there has been rumours that he is part cyborg and a former Imperial , as well as the leaked concept art of a hooded cyborg holding Vader's charred helmet, that many believed was Sydow's Character, and he is rumoured to be Rey's guardian.

That's what I am curious about too. I was thinking "well maybe it's just because she'll never be seen taking her helmet off, as Boba Fett didn't either in the OT, therefore adding to the mystery of the character?" ...but even the Boba Fett Lego minifig has a face (thanks to the PT?)... So yeah I'm wondering also why hers is just black. Maybe she is actually a cyborg/droid and her face/head is just the helmet that we see? Not sure I'd like that, though.

You're probably right about her face remaining a mystery in TFA. And yes, Boba Fett having a face on the current Legos is a PT thing. I went looking through my old SW Legos that I got when I was about seven or eight years old, which was right after TPM had come out, and a few years before AOTC retconned his appearance. And what do you know, Boba Fett didn't have a face, just a black head like Phasma has now; http://i.imgur.com/didxLGc.jpg

We might not see Phasma unmasked in the film.  There's no point in Lego in giving the character a face if there is no face shown in the film.

Do we know when we get a poster? We're like... four and a half months until launch? And as far as I know, no poster.

In a larger sense, I'm curious about the marketing and the hype machine. Anyone here have any thoughts on that? I thought it would have been in a far greater force by now. I guess... It seems kind of muted (if that's the right word?). I know toys come out in the beginning of September, so are they waiting for that? Or they consciously trying to avoid burning people out by doing too much? Just wondering what people think

May the Force be with you.

Maybe they show something new at Disney Expo next month. Otherwise, I think they don't want to overhype things until fall at the earliest.

Yeah, Fett example is like...good and bad. On the one hand, at that time, Fett had no face. On the other hand, at that time, TLG (The LEGO Group) wasn't doing double-sided heads and wasn't really doing the complex prints required for not using a black head for the visor.

There have been two posters. The first was given away free to attendees at Star Wars Celebration:

The second has shown up in theaters across the country. I've personally seen it up at my local IMAX:

Here's hoping we get some classic poster action sooner than later.

What kind of uniform is that supposed to be?
It's brown so I doubt that it could be a First Order uniform. Could this be a new type of Alliance uniform?

It has the asymmetrical red accent that seems prominent in the new film.

This new uniform and especially Hux's overcoat in the SDCC stills have a real early 20th century European vibe. It's an interesting look that I don't think we've really seen before.

My guess is he's from the Alliance: it may be in uniform, but he's definitely not frightening :D Just look at your face, Miles!

The Brownshirts weren't all that frightening, either.
