The delay at this point is not a surprise but it is somewhat disappointing to hear it won't be done until 2016 at the earliest (it sounds like).

Still, I'm sure ady is least happy of all that this has taken almost a decade so I don't feel any right to complain. At the end of the day, when this gets released, we all win. So good luck ady!

Clip looks great by the way.

Oh man, those moving clouds! Amazing stuff!

Even the little things like a second hatch opening or Cloud City passing by at stupid speed when it closes. Vader's saber turning off, smoke from Luke's limb. Awesome!

Is the Falcon shot at 4:20 reused from the arrival at Yavin 4 in ANH? Probably not but it looked familiar. Nothing wrong with it though, looks great!

Edit: Oh and "Bring my Shuttle!" Fucking yes! :D

Clip looked beautiful!  Those moving clouds and the depth of the backdrop of their duel.  After Luke fell I had that Vader yelling nooooooooo in my mind lol.

“Did you know, the word ‘gullible’ is not in the dictionary?! Look it up.”

Nice clip! Great work! Mind blown!

Quick question though,
Shouldn't we see Luke walking on the... what ever it is in the first shot?
He's Not there in the establishing shot, then it cuts to a close-up and he's walking right where we were zooming to in the previous shot.
Or maybe I'm looking at it wrong?

Great work!  Vader's stable helmet in the wind looks much better than before.  I also thought the view out of the top hatch was a nice touch.

So many neat little tweaks in the video that improved a lot.  And just the overall quality of everything was really nice.  Very impressed.

Great clip, thank you for sharing! I have to confess that when watching these I don't 'see' many changes. Partly because the movie is so strong that you enjoy it for the drama rather than playing 'spot the difference' and partly because many of the changes are subtle and well-integrated. But what you do feel is a sense that you are looking at a familiar sequence but with fresh eyes - seeing it like you did for the first time, and that's a great gift for us fans.

Thank you Adywan. I intend to rewatch the Star Wars trilogy with my daughters before The Force Awakens releases in December, in fact I suspect ALOT of fans around the world are going to be rewatching the OT in early December to prepare for it... I think that would be the absolute perfect time to release ESB Revisited for maximum impact and I am crossing my fingers that your masterpiece might be the version we get to see!

Ady, the clip looks great. I have to ask about the shots with the falcon. Why the need to replace the originals? I like the way it looks, I am just curious.

Looking great Adywan, thanks for the clip :-)

On a side note can anyone tell me what it is that falls towards Bespin as Luke lands on the weathervane?

I've never been able to figure it out.

Cheers, Paul

I always thought it was his hand gripping his lightsaber.  which someone finds in Episode 7 according to the trailer.

I always thought that the stuff falling was, well, just stuff.  I think it was more just a device to show a sense of perspective, you know, holy cow it's a long way down from there and some stuff falling takes your eyes in the direction of the thing that was falling.

I am hoping that the whole spoiler thing is taken out of context.  I do think it's lame that someone found Luke's lightsaber from TESB (are you going to tell me that Vader didn't give Bespin a full cavity search for that item?  Can he sense it by the force?  After all it does have his families Midichlorians in the hand....).  Anyhow, if the full spoiler as described actually happens in E7 that would be just lame....huge lame, probably bathed in lens flare.

I don't know if all the spoiler talk is true, but in the trailer you do see someone passing off Luke's first saber to a woman (I assume it's Leia taking it).

Some of us would rather not know if it is. I myself am VERY guilty of leading things off topic on occasion, and would not normally complain this early in a derailment......but spoilers are something I've been able to avoid so far, and I would just like to politely request that this convo be taken to the appropriate thread (if there IS one) before someone says something that many of us will regret. Please and thank you.

I also have never been able to pin down exactly what the falling object is. Did the Blu Ray not offer better clarity on the item in question? I always just assumed it was something off Luke's belt, or a piece of the antenna he was hanging from dislodged from his landing on it.

It is his hand. I was curious to know for sure myself now so I took a screen shot into Photoshop and zoomed in. It's 100% a hand with a lightsaber.  Though it's not gripping it.  The hand is open falling in beside the hilt of the saber.  Afterwards I stumbled on this-

http://scifi.stackexchange.com/questions/8053/is-that-lukes-hand-falling-down-at-the-end-of-the-empire-strikes-back

My screenshot actually turned out clearer than this one, though I don't know if it's different because mine is from the special ed.  It also really looks like his left hand which is curious.

It's "hot in the city" around here, but this clip gave me goosebumps ;-)

I really felt like meeting an old flame, only she's looking a lot better now than in my memory ...

Thanks for the clip. My only slight critical observation is there is a more noticeable jump from the 3D panned version of the Bespin power station thingy to the set than was the case with the original 2D panned version to my eyes.

I don't know if adding some sort of motion to the introduction to first appearance of the set would neutralise it. Should such a thing be deemed necessary. But well done all round.

Hooray for the return of Vader's sulky Shuttle demands.

I don't think it is his hand. Luke was sucked into one of those many red circular vent things which you can see all over the place in that huge funnel.

when Luke falls, he gets pulled sideways into one of those vents, he then travels down a silver corrugated tube where he comes to rest, theres no sign of the severed hand or lightsaber

that tube opens & Luke falls again down another similar tube to a hatch which is already open to the weather vane

Luke lands on the weather vane with a jolt, the weather vane moves with Lukes weight, then we see the piece of debris falling

If this was Lukes hand, the chances of the hand & lightsaber being sucked into the same vent, and falling out of the city after Luke falls out are pretty slim

I think its just debris added to make you more aware how perilous Lukes situation is

Finally had a chance to download and watch the clip. Looks great!

Loved seeing the cloud movement, the underside of cloud city seen rushing past through the open hatch before it closes, and an edited footage of Vader walking to the front of the bridge.

One thing, though. The issue of Luke's "bent" right arm as he's hanging onto the weather vane is still present (between 3:31 - 3:39 of the clip). Even as a kid I could clearly tell it was because of his wrist underneath a lengthened sleeve (also a problem in ROTJ with Vader's severed arm). Might there be a chance that this can be fixed?

Wishlist Of Ideas/Suggestions For Improving ROTJ

Loved the clip. Love all the new clouds and the movement of the camera when the falcon is doing the k-turn. Loved the little traces of melt metal and smoke every time there is a lightsaber cut. Everything looks beautiful.

My only grip would be Darth Vaders helmet... Its better than windy helmet, but it feels static. He moves his head but the reflections of the helmet do not move. Its impossible to improve and it is better than the original one, but its something Ive noticed.

I got goosebumps watching this. Amazing work!

As a video editor myself I would do something with the deactivation of Vader's lightsaber as it clashes somewhat with the age of the special FX of the film. With the extreme closeup of the lightsabder hilt in the frame it may be needs more light interfering with the camera lense. As it stands it has the same light emission as in the wide-angle shots. Something is off...

Also, I second .Mac's comment about Luke's bent hand in the weather vane sequence. It would be a mammoth undertaking to digitally alter it, perhaps more than Adywan is able to invest, but It would look amazing. It would probably take me a few days to do it, assuming I was even successful.

Adywan is so talented. It's inspiring. I imagine a lot of editors are watching his work, a sole devotee of an amazing film, with equal admiration. I cannot wait for it's completion.

I downloaded the clip a few days a go. And it is immense and I did not want to say anything about it until I let it settle on me.

So Feedback.

Wow! this is the best clip we have yet been served the colors and the refinement and the brightness and contrast are all (well feel to me) 100% balanced and rock solid. If you can get the rest of the film up to this standard that's it. The official release is in even deeper trouble than it was already :)

I Like all the fixes you have done and especially those new shots although I think the Light saber retracting speed could do with being a bit slower... If I remember correctly your old version retracted more slowly and I think you had it nailed in terms of speed on the old youtube clip "the revelation" .

I pointed out Helmet reflections before not sure how you feel about them but I think that one particular one with messy reflection and the big 4K lamps reflecting on the underside of Vaders helmet should be painted out. But It's minor really.

Fixing aspect ration on Falcon POV shots to include dashboard? This is another iffy one but I think it would push those shots to feel balanced with the rest of the footage and maintain aspect.

2 more larger visual disconnects I felt whilst watching the clip and they are shots that you have not really altered as in they are a carbon copy more or less so not really a problem you created but I will give feedback on these as other ways of looking at it.

1st one is update existing shot.

Seeing the actual bottom of the large structure when Luke looks down and perhaps when he falls?

I think you have a 3d model of the object?...So, really that is a snapshot static render if you agree the bottom of the Gantry Crane would be indeed visible.

2nd one is iffy but I think it either needs something like this or needs altering in someway to maintain visual flow a bit better and the scale is way off.

So Leia looks out to the left but Luke would actually be off screen if he was in the correct position to match the following shot in terms of visual flow... So

Yes pretty nasty mock up, but it's not worth me putting too much effort in but anyway it get's the point over about another way of looking at it although the actual angle in the mock up is totally not right something similar (from the never before seen angle) could make it flow better together visually and be a nice way to see it like we never seen it before. Oh yeah I am obviously not in competition with my crap art skills :)

Over all I thought the clip was outstanding stuff and visually the best I have seen from you yet.

I will talk about some audio stuff in this part later on

No worries I told you what I thought about it and where I felt the visual bumps I never said you should change it but I gave you my feedback on it.

It's still amazing :)
