The only time we see her looking like Royalty is in Star Wars where she's trying to pass as an innocent princess and not a member of the Rebellion.
The dress and accent were a ruse to hide the fact that she's on an important military mission.
In all the other films she's dressed battle ready. (with the exception of the gown she puts on to blend in at Cloud City, the slave outfit Jabba puts her in and that stupid dress the Ewoks happened to have laying around...)
It wasn't quite a ruse. She probably dressed and spoke that way as member of the senate all the time.
Perhaps she had as many trunks of clothing as Padme did, but it was all destroyed along with the blockade runner. ;)
She looked really royal in the medal ceremony.
Where were you in '77?

True, but even then the posh act and dress are disguising the fact that she's much more involved the Rebel military. The only time she uses that accent is when trying to fool Vader and Tarkin. We never see her addressing the senate, but we do see her directly involved with delivering stolen plans, viewing battle schematics, briefing fighter pilots on the details of a mission, helping lead an evacuation, a rescue mission and an attack group against an Imperial base and prove that she's handy with a gun.
Seems she's much more involved with the military side of things than the politics and she's certainly depicted as a fighter more so than a princess.
So, back to the point, the new rebel troop-esque costume seems appropriate, where as her in a royal gown looking like a Queen would not.
She looked really hot in the medal ceremony.
FTFY ;)

This image makes Carrie look significantly older than 58, unfortunately.
I'm not saying she looks bad, but I am saying that this leak makes her look worse than she does.
It seems that age has hit all the returning actors pretty hard, and Carrie definitely looks older than 58 in that image.

One does not simply joke about Mordor.
“That Darth Vader, man. Sure does love eating Jedi.”

Look at ol' Sheev in RotJ. The Dark Side* is known to age its practitioners, isn't it?
...or has that rumor been quashed yet?

Let's not forget the booze.
it'll be interesting to see if the upcoming comic series centers around the Battle of Jakku, The New Battlefront video game is also releasing The Battle of Jakku as a free DLC campaign just before the movie hits

The eyes look more normal in other promo shots.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.
I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

It tells us they are using different materials to make a Chewy mask in 2015. ;)
Where were you in '77?
You see more of Mayhew's eye lid in the old mask.
Still better than the RotS costume, which was pretty off.

Going by that GIF Chewie got younger over the last 38 years.
Look at how coarse he looks in 1977 compared to his smooth 2015 appearance.

With all this talk of Serkis' and Nyongo's CG characters it so great to see that these two will make another movie appearance.
I can get why Ackbar is in TFA, but it will be interesting to see why Nien Nunb is in it. Maybe he's become a general by now or something.

Wow, they really did a good job making Nunb look older. I'm impressed.
