Really???

Well In section of the duel where Vader reveals he is lukes father...

I think it is on the line "Luke, you do not realize your importance"

I think it is the cameraman in his helmet and you can see his face and his round neck t-shirt / jumper. It is actually really easy to see him in the helmet.

Sorry on my phone cannof post picture...

It looks like a face, but it probably isn't. Seems like an unlikely angle and distance for someone to be standing.

Reminds me of that scene in Echo base where a soldiers shadow is not quite right.  ;)

That's not as bad as how unrealistic the bubbles looked as they popped when R2 was pulled under by the swamp monster. They were fine until they popped!!!!

What do you Frink?       :)

Steady Cam or Boom mic operator or just really bad lighting issues?

Not so far fetched....

And Frink thanks for making me laugh on my way home this evening. I could not stop chuckling at your comment. It was pure Gold...

Hello Everyone!

Its my first post here, so "here goes nothing......"

Firstly, I must say a H U G E thank you to ady for his tireless and amazing work to date! For me, personally, ANH-Revisited is by far the definitive and most superior edit. I was literally watching a film I have seen (many hundreds of times before) anew. By the end of the film I was virtually going to punch the air shouting "YEAH". Happy childhood memories of sitting wide-eyed in the cinema in the seventies were gladly relived.

Soooo, to say I'm a tad excited about Empire is a bit of an understatement. I know some of the posts about the upcoming changes get a bit heated ("rather touchy, aren't they??), but it its half as good as ANH, then boy are we all in for a real treat.

It would be rather nice to have had a Star Wars Day release, but as all of us revisited fans know, this has been a long and complex project. Best to be calm and patient and to it right the first time round. Nobody wants to see another abomination like the "special" editions lol.

I know its been a long road of ups and downs, highs and lows, personal triumph and loss, and (I hope I can say I speak for all the fans), we truly do appreciate the time and effort that has been put into making an already amazing trilogy EVEN BETTER.

Secondly (and shorter.......ly)

I'm also really looking forward to ANH HD, it looks stunning in lower resolutions so this will be visually breathtaking. I agree that the lightsabre duel worked better without music, partly to showcase Ben Burtts legendary Sound Design, but also any music there seems to distract from the tension of this slower but brilliantly choreographed sequence. Personally, I think the changes originally made were perfect, and shouldn't be cut back. (more work I know, but think of the special editions!! This is why happens when you tamper with perfection lol).

However.....

There was one itty bitty little change to AHN which wuld be nice for the HD version. Red Leaders apparent use of the force during the Battle of Yavin. I of  course refer to him stating his been shot in the starboard engine just BEFORE he then shot in the offending engine. A bit of jigger pokery (a technical term apparently) might be needed so, for example, a TIE takes out that pesky engine, then we have the "ooh I've been shot in me engine" bit, then Vader hits him again, causing him to spin and crash.  Just an idea.

Anyway........

Thank you ady and everyone who is helping you. May your excellent work continue

Red Leader doesn't use the Force.

He is shot in exactly the place he mentions off screen and is shot again on screen and then crashes into a unconvincing landscape of grey painted plastic tubs.

You are also posting this in the ESB:R thread. This is not the thread you are looking for.

Hahaha. True, although earlier posts also referenced AHN HD. (guess Vader had it in for that engine lol). Although ESB also got a mention in my previous post...a bit.

Twas merely a thought-id-mention-as-I-have-started-so-I-will-finish moments hehehe.

Besides, looks like they have ESB pretty much covered.......

From what his Facebook page says, there is not much left to do. So I'd say late summer or sometime this fall. I also suspect that work has already began on ROTJ:R. Maybe we will see a teaser for ROTJ:R on the ESB:R dvd. He had a Teaser for ESB:R on the ANH:R dvd.

However, I'm pretty sure we've been hearing that since late 2012. Not to critique anyone, but don't act shocked if this once again gets pushed to 2016 or a year later. It's almost routine at this point.

Not to critique either, but it hasn't needed to take this long either.

Oh, yeah? Please explain.

The movie's already there...He has no reason to redo every single frame, make Dagobah miniatures, and such.

The movie was already there before he did anything to it. He didn't "need" to do anything. Fixing this stuff is the entire aim of his project!

Ronster's day:

Wake up

Pour cereal

Put in some version of TESB

Watch 6 frames of TESB while eating cereal

Pore over significance of said frames trying to find something that gives away that we are watching a movie and not real life

Post on OT.com

If it's not too busy, have lunch and dinner somewhere in there

Toss and turn over that day's wretched discoveries as they destroy viewing experience permanently unless fixed by Adywan until falling asleep

;)

I couldn't possibly have come up with anything better, so I went back, found this, and quoted it. :P

But for the sake of being on-topic, I'd just like to ask how close is it to the audio stage? Has there been any thought into which source will be the basis for the new mix? Or is that still too far out to know yet?

I have a quick very random question.  I was looking through the photo comparisons of some various clips and came across the shot where you replaced Needa's shuttle with a Lambda one.  It looks a little small in the screenshot, I realize that it is a pretty old clip so I was wondering if that has changed at all.

Thanks!

Last I saw it, it was still pretty small. Any bigger and it couldn't fit in the shuttle bay!

Every time I read comments like this, I keep picturing myself in the van on the way to get ice cream...

You see, we're poor and live far outside the city, so we never get to have ice cream in town - but when we do, it's a real treat!  I look forward to it every time, no matter how long it takes to get there.  I'm so excited!

We're in the car for a while, the beautiful scenery is passing by outside the window, and all I can think about is how great this ice cream is gonna be!  I know it's taking a while, but man, it's gonna be so good!

However, I have a little brother sitting next to me... He is a little bit more selfish than I remember myself being at that age...  Always wants everything handed to him on a silver platter right when he asks for it.  It's quite a pain, really... (you know how it is, I'm sure...)

Then he starts...

"Are we there yet?"

'Oh no' I think... not this... not now...

"Not yet, honey, it's still a while - just sit back and enjoy the view.  Think about what flavor you're going to get while you wait!"

A few minutes goes by in silence...

"Are we there yet?" he asks again.

"Not yet..."

A few minutes later...

"Are we there yet?"

I can see the frustration in my parents - through the backs of their heads.

"Not yet, sweetheart, just stop asking - we'll get there when we get there."

The tension is palpable...

Please God... don't let him ask again...

"Are we ther..."  My brother starts to ask but my father interrupt him.

"That's it!  I'm turning around, no one's getting ice cream!"

...

So everyone in the future please... Don't make Adywan turn the car around...  The ice cream is totally worth the long drive: just sit back, enjoy the ride, and shut up.

I just noticed that in ROTJ the shuttle looks a tad bigger (not by much) in relation to the shuttle bay.

Anyway just a thought, doesn't make too much difference to me either way. Thanks!

mfaxtx, not sure if the shuttle bay you're referring to is the smaller one at the front of the stardestroyer which the shuttle emerges from in the movie...or the bigger one further back, from which the accompanying TIEs emerge from.

Either way, I recall that the original shuttle was deemed out of scale in that original shot compared to the stardestroyer's size, and that adywan slightly changed the scaling of his replacement shuttle (which emerges from the bigger, further back bay) to match the scale of the stardestroyer better.

 Well said that man...... Bravo!!!!

This has truly been a labour of love by both the original production crew AND  Adywan, (who - lets not forget - is doing this in his own time and at his own expense while juggling his own personal life and commitments). Personally I think he is a top bloke for even trying it in the first place, so lets not be too hasty.

And on top of all that all I can think of now is ice cream!!!!!! Once I start down that path, forever will it dominate my destiny!

(yep. Thanks for that lol)

Full / part animatronic models by two different people. I was actually like wow they are very, very good so I thought I would bring them up here. It could be useful for you lot... if not now perhaps in the future.... Basically I thought I would share for your benefit if you were not aware of them. I only just seen them both a few moments ago myself.
