Thanks Ray but I was only trying to recreate the storyboard though and in the unfilmed story board the AT-AT is much further away or grew in size between conceptualizing and miniature filming but this is how it came out as I could only use bits of footage that were available. It was a little experiment of trying to recapture that look from the storyboard and McQuarrie art really more than anything else and was quite fun to do too.

Also reminds me of old ESB Video game cover art too.

I actually like that concept too, though instead, the main change I would've emphasized for that particular shot is edit the AT-AT to be much closer to the speeder than how it originally is. Always kinda bugged me when at that moment it appeared Luke had a lot of time to escape, no sweat, then seconds later the feet are right at the speeder. One can say there was an elapse in time right then, but I don't buy that in this case - since AT-ATs are slow walkers, that would've meant Luke was digging around in the backseat for around half a minute - that should not be what happens.

Are they really that slow?  They don't move their joints so quickly, but at the same time, imagine how big those strides are.

They do have relatively big strides (to a human) but look carefully at the shot in question. Notice how the AT-AT isn't making enough headway per step to possibly cover that distance it needs to in those few seconds. Just the fault of that particular shot; they misjudged where it should be in relation to the speeder.

+1, really nice Ronster, just found my new desktop!

Here's a suggestion -- not for the edit!!!  (Frink) --  but for Ace fighter pilot Dum-Dum McSkydummy:  Don't fly headlong into the guns, you idiot!  Attack from the sides, or behind, or anywhere else but straight ahead, for Pete's sake.  Thing's only got about a 10 degree cone of fire...

Huge small inquiry/request?

Has the new Emperor hologram scene ever been released in higher quality than the compressed youtube preview? If so, where could I find it, and if not, is there any chance it could be?

Ever since seeing that hologram, it has ruined both the original and the 2004 version for me... I desperately want to splice it into Harmy's ESB Despecialized...

Preferred Saga:
1/2: Hal9000
3: L8wrtr
4/5: Adywan
6-9: Hal9000

There is a scene re-arrangement in the sequence as it plays in the edited film vs say a unfinished work print version timeline see if you can spot it.

And thanks for the feedback on the concept it was not my idea after all the creators already had this idea in the first place

Edit:

Watched a youtube video this morning about errors in ESB and one came up I have not seen discussed before. When Leia, Lando and Chewie with 3PO go into the elevator on cloud city running from the storm troopers Chewie has white soles on the borttom of his feet.

There is also Leia's arm changes position when Han and Leia kiss on the falcon between shots doubt there is a fix for that one.

All the rest I know you are already aware of in the first post change list.

Those are apparently taken from the Blu-ray, so they've already been used as a source.

Sorry if I sound stupid, but "used as a source" for what? Just reference or .. I dunno.
Sorry if I sound foolish.

I thought you meant "used as a source" in a Curb Your Enthusiasm sense.

I'm still amazed and shocked that all this is accomplished with one man and help from his friends using his own money and donations.

Keeping it true to the 'feel' of Star Wars that the original creator lost somehow, with all the money and 'talent' at his disposal. If these were released as the real special editions the world would be amazed and critics would applaud the work involved and it would not of been wasted.

I think this and other fan projects work because we love the material and wish to honour it and not try to make a quick buck.

Trying to adjust movies to make money will bring a smaller amount of money.

If the movie is done right then the money and praise will come.

Greed is everywhere and it affects the movies we see poorly.

Hat off to Adywan, his friends and donaters.

Thoroughly looking forward to the release of TESB:R

Battle droids the robotic incarnations of Jar Jar Binks.

I'm guessing, Mac, that you are referring to the mock-up Ronster made. Because in the shot of the approaching AT-AT in the film, Luke's speeder isn't even visible, which makes it seem like there's even more distance between them.

Any word if this will be addressed, or is it staying as is?

I hate to harp on this subject, but this has bothered me since I was a small child in the 80's.

ray_afraid, I'm doing this on a phone with no access to creating the right images here, so bare with me, here's a YouTube clip...

Star Wars Empire Strikes Back Battle Of Hoth (Ful…: http://youtu.be/WASr5-mS238

The part I was talking about happens at 6:36, which is where I thought Ronster's mockup would be implemented, if at all. If something should be edited there, it should include editing the AT-AT to appear it is closer to the snowspeeder.

The part you're talking about is at 6:33, which I'd say you're also right, the AT-AT should probably appear closer there too, just slightly (simply trimming small portions of the frame may work). I guess to me, the incorrect placement of the AT-AT at 6:36 was always so glaringly noticeable that the part you bring up didn't faze me :)

 153. INT LUKE'S SNOWSPEEDER - ROGUE LEADER

LUKE'S POV out cockpit window of giant walker feet crunching even closer. The ship shudders under the impact of the huge metal feet pounding the ice plain.

Ok here is a possible explaination....

The shot where the AT-AT appears in the sequence is way high in the frame... This is what it looks like when you would put a cockpit over that shot...This fixes the perspective but Eeewwww it would have been a pretty nasty transparent cockpit on a static shot with the technology limits that they had. So they Spliced this shot without the Bluescreen cockpit overlayed when Luke Looks before going to the back of his speeder. Think about how that alters distances and times and you also get another piece of the puzzle along with it Alswell as a Jump cut removal of luke unstrapping seatbelt.

I Challenged you 2 Ray and Mac and I can't believe you did not get it but I suppose it's not obvious but I tried to give you a few big clues about this.

Anyway that is what I think might be going on and why some of it is edited the way it is or it is my best guess.
