May as well, if you're going to do this anyway. It'd be hit or miss, since not everyone uses AE.

You don't need a Blu burner, just a Blu reader. And they're pretty cheap these days.

I'd love to see a fan edit of ROTJ where Luke's lightsaber is blue. It was originally intended to be so but they changed it because the colour of the blade got lost against the sky during the fight above the Sarlacc Pit.
Are there any edits out there that made the change?
I quite like the idea of Luke's saber being symbolic of something new (green-spring-rebirth), what with him being the 'new' hope and all but I seem to recall fishmanlee talking about doing at least a test of Luke with a blue ROTJ saber.

If you could do that scene in HD, it would be a huge service to future edits. Those other Jedi are totally useless! Could you do that with original purple sabre too, please?
You are facing a mountain of work though, I think. I have tried to play around with that scene and rotoing mace out of the same colored robes in the background is a nightmare to get looking right. Maybe you have more rotoscoping skills than me though.

It is definitely a challenge and will probably be a WIP for a little while. But I think I can pull it off. If I end up completing it I will include both blue and purple lightsaber versions. It will be in HD as well.

I kind of liked that Mace had a purple saber — at least he had "some" character to him. They made green and blue too common and boring. I remember first seeing Luke with his green lightsaber in ROTJ, but now it seems less special as it once was. They should have had other Jedi carry different colored lightsabers just to change things up — maybe yellow, orange, or even pink for some of the babes. :p Well, anyway, I always imagined Yoda with a yellow one. I think it's odd that he himself being green would use green. :(
I agree totally about Yoda's saber. Green was an understandable but silly choice. I think his saber pre-AOTC was depicted as yellow, as Windu's was blue.
EDIT: Reminds me of Redlettermedia joking that when Yoda confronted Palpatine they expected him to shoot out green lightning.

My thoughts exactly. Were I interested in and capable of doing a fan edit of the PT myself, I'd end up giving at least half of the lightsaber-wielding characters their own different colours and hues.

okay, so, i have just completed all scenes from AOTC and i would like to share them with thefan editors here for use in their projects. i just want to get the "OK" from the mods to share a link to the raw files. i will be sharing both the Adobe After Effects files and the raw video files in MOV format for mac and MP4. These are just clips so i am assuming it would be okay, but i would rather ask first than be berated by Frink (c;

well, i think i will be uploading Episode 2 to myspleen in a couple days. there will be 2 sets of files .MOV for Macs and .AVI for PCs. i might also include the .AE files if anyone wants to see how i did the change or would want to chang the color to green instead of blue. i'll update here when i have uploaded to myspleen. if you dont have myspleen and would still like to use the files, i will also be uploading to Mega. I just stumbled onto this. That was the exact process I used when changing sabers. It's a great technique.

Try removing it from your client, then download the .torrent file from spleen and use that, pointed to your file/directory.
(that worked the last time someone had this problem)

Agree so much. If I ever do PT edits my first priority would be to learn how to rotoscope and make that happen.
