Ugh, sci-fi names.
Ugh, sci-fi names.

The real classic is the poster for The Ricdiculous Menace.
An instant classic!
Ugh, "Kylo Ren"? WTF?
A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.
I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

My thoughts exactly.
Its still a better name than Jar Jar Binks, though.
Kylo Ren is fine. At least it's not Darth Something.
Because, let's face it: there are too many Darths.
Why was Poe Dameron's last name revealed but Finn's and Rey's weren't?
Maybe they're Brazilian athletes.
Well, because Rey's is Solo
Not sure why not Finn. Hopefully not because it's Calrissian. Or maybe so that we don't know it isn't Calrissian.

...everything you could every want to know about what this flick did in 1977 ...this poster has it.
Yeah! Scoop necklines, lotsa gams, and pecs pecs pecs 'til next Tuesday!
...oh wait, Star Wars had none of those things.
Sorry but that poster is utter crap. The real classic was the one with Luke pointing the blaster at the viewer, surrounded by the other characters. The one above is the square-peg-round-hole weird incongruous exploitation misstep.
That happens to be the poster fans of my generation first saw, and was most closely associated with the film for most of it's original run. Even Kenner used it's imagery. It's an idealized, stylized representation of our heroes, (quite common in classic movie posters of the day) something even I understood in 1977.
And I doubt Mark or Carrie are complaining. ;)
Where were you in '77?
Like the vintage trading cards as a way to reveal the names. Every time they pander to my old ass with nostalgia it completely works, I'm such an easy mark. (And gives hope to getting the originals out).

The first thing to enter my head...
Where were you in '77?
Kylo Ren, eh?
Sounds like somebody's a fan of a certain character from the Droids cartoon.
I thought that name sounded familiar!
Where were you in '77?
Complete coincidence without a doubt.
You can't toss a dozen scrabble tiles into a toilet without some goofy EU character name floating to the top.
Za Mordschlag ??
The only name I don't like much is Kylo Ren. Finn and Rey are fine (though I prefer Kira from all the supposed "leaks"), and Poe Dameron is okay. He'll probably go by Dameron, which I like better than Poe.
Kylo Ren, on the other hand, sounds like an old EU name. It might grow on me, it might not. We'll see.
I will say that the Excalisaber has grown on me by now. As long as the crossguard doesn't turn into full-length blades at any point, I'm cool with it.
Definitely digging the marketing, though - these cards were a pretty awesome idea, and it definitely plays on the '70s/'80s nostalgia factor to a large degree, which is probably the best thing they can do as far as marketing a new Star Wars movie after the SE's and prequels.

- The “ball droid” is BB-8
- Oscar Isaac is Poe Dameron
- The Sith is Kylo Ren
- Daisy Ridley is Rey
- John Boyega is Finn
In every measurable category, those names are light years ahead of Plagueis, Sidious, Maul, Dooku, Grevous, and Mace. Lucas was a complete idiot with his moronic character names.
Absolutely loving the names, as well as the total awesomeness that is the trading card homage. Fantastic stuff.

Any name is better than Dooku.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.
Episode 9 Rewrite, The Starlight Project (Released!) and ANH Technicolor Project (Released!)
Even Elan Sleazebaggano? ;)
And holy crap, I didn't realize the guy who played him was Mouse in The Matrix!

George pronounces it Doku, which I would have been okay with.
Those names aren't entirely terrible but they are strange. Hopefully there are some other more common names for us to identify with.
An issue I have with some PT era character names is that they are difficult to pronounce, Which shouldn't really be a [common] thing when most people are speaking the same language.
in my everyday life I run into a lot of people with my name - there are three of us in the same office. There cannot be only one Luke in the galaxy.

You underestimate the power of the dork side.

Were you watching the movie? Or were you looking at the woman with the silly hair?
Actually, I was looking at the Sinead O'Connor impersonator on the right. ;)
Where were you in '77?
so is BB-8 short for Beach-Ball 8?
