edit: yup, it's been there for at least 5 years.

It's the downloadable version that is new. Previously, you would have only been able to download the rifftrax audio which you would have to sync up with the version of the HS they used. That's how they do a lot of Hollywood turkeys.

I'm familiar with rifftrax. I thought they were offering vod for the SWHS for some time now. But yeah, it they switched recently they've probably secured the rights.

Well if anyone has info on whether a film cleanup is a derivative work, do post it. The distributor of this public domain Blu-ray felt that their restoration efforts weren't enough to protect their content, and added a watermark listing their website in the lower right

Cheapo DVD labels stealing other companies restored transfers apparently happens a lot. You would think there would be a less intrusive way to watermark the video signal.

I'd be good with a subtle watermark.

The worst I ever saw was with the first edition of Wookiee Groomer's comparing prints of the original and SE trilogy. I understand that he didn't want the project to be sold on eBay, but having a distracting watermark fade in and out every few minutes really didn't work. It was an interesting project, but that kept me from enjoying it.

Thankfully that changed by the next iteration of the project.

PM Tasjo for disc one download links. I tried to send files to my seedbox, but my ISP started throttling upload even more, I have 5-10 kB/s most of the time. O.O Someone else has to post it on myspleen.

This is the ultimate release of HS. It has the best picture quality (so much better than Angrysun), includes retro commercials and the extras are awesome.

The "cut" version is the cartoon as it appears in the special. The "uncut" version is taken from what appears to be the original film source from Nelvana and has an extended opening and closing as well as an "alien" commercial between the two parts.

The uncut version of the animated segment is most likely taken directly from a transfer of the uncut film copy of the cartoon (the only part of the Holiday Special that would have been shot on film). Not only does it include the intro and outro portions in full screen (which ultimately show up in smaller size on Lumpy's viewscreen), but it also has a short deleted segment filling the area where the commercial break would eventually be (after Boba Fett communicates with Darth Vader). This deleted segment is a short fake "commercial" with limited animation and a bizarre backwards soundtrack. The soundtrack when played back forwards turns out to be from a contemporary Canadian PSA about conserving electricity!
