Reading that story only served to once again remind me how weird the fox fanfare's absence will feel.

That's for sure... When I was young, anytime I heard the Fox music coming from the living room I'd rush in hoping Star Wars was coming on. Lot's of disappointing moments followed that music...
I'm prepared to break tradition, hopefully the new movie will exceed our expectations.
The established Fox Fanfare & Star Wars crawl didn't stop the Prequels from being a complete waste of time and money

They already broke the tradition with the Clone Wars movie, and it did feel weird at the time.
IIRC, it was Star Wars that revived the longer Fox fanfare, which originally played only with Cinemascope films. Fox seems to use it on everything these days.
Where were you in '77?

I guess there's just a part of me that feels like you need that fanfare to be the very first thing you hear in a Star Wars movie with "Episode" and a roman numeral in the title.
Good thing you never saw the original Star Wars :p

New movie every summer with alternating standalone and "episode" entries.

So much for making a movie only when the script is right.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

If anybody knows how to make money better than Lucas, it's Disney.

BLOCK THAT KICK
They weren't kidding when they said they were going to run this franchise into the ground.
So not only are they going to milk the cow, they're going to milk the bull, too.
Yearly releases (or twice yearly) seems to serve the Marvel Studios movies pretty well. I think diversity of characters and themes is the key to success here.
Spoiler free for the ST
If they make a movie once a year, some of them have to be good. I don't think that after say 15 years we didn't get a single good film, right?
Right?
And in the time of greatest despair, there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as the Son of the Suns.
Since October, I just figured, "What have we got to lose?"
I know I’ve made some very poor decisions recently.
The more movies they make, the more material I'll have to work with. And the worse, the better!
I thought you were stopping after Episode 3.
