Has anybody successfully made use of this ROTJ AVCHD.ISO file in Ubuntu or linux of some kind?

Every iso mounting program I've tried so far either doesn't agree with the file or shows nothing inside.

The file is 7.9 GB so I'm pretty sure its ready to go.

Just can't seem to make any use of it (mind you, I'm not even trying to burn it to a disc, just would be happy playing it on the computer at least for now)

All the image mounting utilities I tried on this choke and report an empty disc.  Burning it to DVD was the only way I was able to see the contents.

I had no problems with the image mounting, just with the burned disc! LOL

How to use an ISO image on Ubuntu Linux

Like anything else on linux, it’s easiest to do things from the command line. Open up a terminal window and type in the following commands

sudo mkdir /media/iso

sudo modprobe loop

sudo mount filename.iso /media/iso -t iso9660 -o loop

You should be able to navigate to the /media/iso folder and see the contents of the ISO image. If you want to unmount the iso, use the following command:

sudo umount /media/iso

Stay tuned, we’ll post a howto about using these ISO images from within the GUI.

From the link.

Then you probably have the file path wrong. Double check, remember to put the path between quotes if it contains spaces or simply cd to the actual directory to make it a bit simpler.

hmm, ok the quotes seemed to work (thanks), but now i get this:

wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/loop0,

missing codepage or helper program, or other error

In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try

       dmesg | tail  or so

i'm sorry for hi-jacking the thread with this stuff

Have you tried burning the disc?

Does your OS support the UDF 2.50 filesystem? You will probably need that.

Double check the path is correct.

To be 100% sure, try using absolute path (starting in the "/" folder) instead of relative path (starting in your home folder).

If this doesn't help, I honestly don't know.

Hey, thanks for all your hardwork Harmy! My apologise for asking about a problem on Christmas Eve... I just finished downloading the de-specialized RotJ (DVD9), but the ISO isn't playing ball. Usually I just watch them with VLC, but that for some reason won't play it. Daemon tools, won't mount the .iso and DVD shrink tells me that it can't open it due to an "invalid" UDF filesystem.

Anywone have any ideas?

Have you tried using imgburn to burn the ISO file onto a DVD9?

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

I am also having some trouble with this one. The ISO does not want to mount using Disk Utilities on the Mac.

I haven't tried with Toast yet but was curious if anyone on the Mac has found a solution that's working for them...

First two burned flawlessly.

I wrote this a page ago:

Ok, so for the mac users that perhaps like me are new to mac and/or slow I simply used the disk utility. I hit the burn icon, located the iso, and burned that straight to disc, a dual layer disc. It plays perfectly in my song bluray player. Starts up automatically etc. No Toast needed even!

But if you say you did this basically for the first two and it didn't work then I don't know, maybe the downloaded file is corrupt in some way? It worked for me for all 3 anyway. Good luck!

Author

Yeah, like I said first two were perfect.

Maybe it's a corrupt file. I could try downloading again... though it'll use up another 7gb of bandwidth.

Author
Time

fist two weren't ISOs, were they?

If you don't mind downloading again, you could get the unpacked BDMV folder from usenet or myspleen.
Their contents are the same as Harmy's ISO.

If you're concerned about bandwidth, or concerned about wasting your time and energy downloading again,
then you might want to check your ISO for corruption first:

I got mine from Demonoid where I have lots of bandwidth to spare and the first two were indeed ISOs with MD5s. Jedi however was lacking an MD5 which is what I think might be causing the issues with mounting in Disk Utility for the Mac.

I dont mind grabbing it from MySpleen my concern would only be destroying my ratio with a 7+ gb file. Bandwidth from my ISP isn't an issue, just ratios. Blah.

As for usenet, thats sadly not an option since my ISP doesnt have newsgroup abilities. Double BLAH.

Neither does mine. But Astraweb are charging only 50 bucks for a full terabyte of usenet downloads. If you can scrounge the money together, that'd be very handy for moments like these and could potentially last you for years if used selectively.

Sorry for the stupid question but does astraweb support non-USA customers ?

Stay on topic please.

Just checked MySpleen on the off chance I could just attempt it... it mentions the 1.0 versions are depricated. Is this true for Jedi as well? Am I looking at the right thing?
