I'll never understand why people feel so threatened by this project. Enjoy whatever you wish to enjoy....no-one (certainly not us) is trying to stop you. Live and let live is apparently something that trolls have yet to figure out.

Insecurity.  They probably have very small penises.

Wow. Just wow....

 Exactly.  This is their mantra:

"The first rule of the IP address is we don't talk about the IP address.  The second rule of the IP address is what happens under the IP address stays under the IP address."

actually i noticed this on the cbs fox video release from the 80's vhs tape.when he makes the lightsaber move out of the snow a little bit the music moving to the lightsaber isn't in synch with the movement of the lightsaber.

Not to be a turd and ask an audio related question, and seeing as it would take a lifetime to read back, will you be fixing the music error when Luke is fixing to be sucked into the tube?

It bothers me more than any error in the film.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I can't speak for Ady but water on a scale model is problematic at best, because larger amounts of water tend to behave very differently than smaller amounts, so adding the water digitally would probably yield better results than actually physically filming it with the miniature set (if I understand your suggestion correctly).

What about the full-sized X-wing Ady is making?

Oops, sorry, forget I said anything. ;-)

Really looking forward to seeing how the miniature tree replacements end up looking in the 2 shots that adywan's confirmed they're intended for -

But the really big news over on the Facebook front is that a new clip is imminent...

One that's 100% complete on the video side, and that will be along shortly!  Yay!  :)

I think it's just the overblown colors of the Blu on the split-screen that makes Revisited look a bit pale/blue.

Great clip! Colors look great and Yoda's mouth movements look much more realistic than the original. Also love that Yoda's movements have been reversed (or something) when Luke falls so that Yoda looks at him instead of turning away.

I noticed that too, but I think it looks natural.  Compare it with the blu-ray pane, and you can see how unnatural the colours in the official release are (everything looks so yellow).  I think the blu-rays have made us so paranoid of seeing cyan tints everywhere that it's easy to forget that some shots should and would have that natural tint (such as on Dagobah, where the light would lean more towards the blue end of the spectrum because of the surrounding environment and light being filtered through the haze).  I for one think it looks fine.

Aside from the terrific colour grading, I was very impressed with Yoda's facial movements.  The articulation of his mouth, in particular, though subtle, really enhances the performance--I began forget I was watching a muppet.  Makes me wonder why ILM didn't take a similar route in the PT to bring Yoda to life.  If I'm not mistaken, Guillermo Del Toro prefers to use physical costumes with digital enhancements over strictly CGI, and I think such an approach yields terrific results.

The only minor effect that seemed like it could be improved is when the Falcon flies through the cloud on its way to Cloud City.  Its entrance and exit from the cloud didn't look entirely photorealistic to me.  There's a clear "edge"/point at which the ship ceases to be/becomes visible, whereas in a real cloud I think the ship would seem more to fade out/in from view... I hope I explained that clearly.  Anyone else think this too?

Overall, though, awesome work Ady.  The improved colour palette and FX work on Yoda alone are raising my anticipation for this edit.

Yep this is the end of the world as we know it. Hell has frozen over. I actually agree with fishmanlee on something.

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

I really liked the new Cloud City aproach. The colors are so beutiful and you don't have the feel, that the film made in the 80's. Great job.

I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favourite thread in this forum.

If you look through the gap in the vines as Luke is turning away you can see where there should have been blue swamp fog there is tan.

On the ESB:R side at times the foliage looks less vibrant and Luke looks like he has been filming in Britain and not LA but it could just be that in their rush to make us forget how blue the DVDs were they have made the footage on the Blu-Ray sometimes a bit 'lucy in the sky with diamonds' (which sometimes is visually interesting but not consistent with the rest of the film).

If you look at the Boba Fett footage that is clearly less blue.

Yeah, I really love how this has been altered to match the colour of the rest of the 'swamp fog' now.  Great job on that.

The whole preview was another triumph throughout as far as I'm concerned (you ended up posting the clip at exactly the time I was mentioning it doubleofive, lol!)...but damn, it ended *just* before my favourite shot in the whole 'Falcon approach'! - I was willing it on for another second or two to reveal the moment we actually then see 'Cloud City' in the distance...as I'm really looking forward to seeing what that particular shot looks like now.

Anyway, glad to see the removal of the 'floating' debris' that's in front of Slave I now, which is moving backwards towards it for some reason in the current version...and seems to appear out of nowhere compared to the shot before!  And nice to see the lack of 'blue-spill on the close-up of Fett too, as Bingowings also mentioned.

Good to see the 'rusty red' panels of Slave I itself now too.  And Yoda's looking great here again, with his single added 'blink' nicely timed.  The moment that ray_afraid mentioned, where he now turns to look *towards* Luke when he falls is a particular highlight for me...as it's always niggled me how his head kinda 'jerks' towards the wrong direction when this happens!  The 'cloud' shots all look great too, and the subtly-different flight-paths of the 'Pod-cars' and Falcon seen in one or two of them look terrific.

Amazing stuff as always.  Thanks for the preview adywan!

Yes, I noticed that too.

My only other criticism is the lack of Harmy-esque "decropping" of the Falcon cockpit shots. I doubt this will get fixed, though.

Thanks to the red shifted and faded GOUT and the abominations that are the DVD & Blu-Rays, the true colour of dagobah has been lost. But thankfully i have been privileged to have the opportunity to work on Puggo's latest 16mm transfer of ESB, which is a glorious print and you would be surprised just how great the colours of the original version of ESB looked. As you can see here Revisited is pretty close to how this movie originally looked all those years ago (thanks to Puggo for allowing me to post the screenshots from his version)

Another thing is the skies during the approach to Cloud City. The whole scene on the blu-ray/DVD has had a strong red filter added. But the skies were originally blue in most of the shots.

Oh and here is the second clip:

BEAUTIFUL.....love that you've fixed the TIE that was heading towards the SSD (the one that looked like he was on a mobile phone or texting someone, and suddenly changed his direction....1:04.....now he makes a smooth bank and turns.

Love both of the clips. That new Hoth background at the beginning is great and I never noticed how oddly that star destroyer lowers in that establishing shot.

One thing I've wondered and I don't know if it would actually help but have you tried applying a tiny motion blur to the digital mouth enhancements to Yoda? For some reason I think it might help in the same way when they apply it to stop motion nowadays but I'm probably just talking nonsense.

That Bespin sky comparison is fascinating.

Ady looks amazing, keep up the good work. I reckon the colours look much more filmic/ natural, since I saw them as a small kid I've always felt that the colours on all different incarnations of the movie have always looked forced. Loving the small tweeks to Yoda's mouth and eyes, and the cloud city has never looked so good.

Anyone know if there will be different versions ie: the small tweaks version and the full on new models and shots version?

Ady?
