Coincidence maybe, but Stephen Sansweet is head of Public Relations at Lucasfilm, I believe, and has been since the mid 90s. That makes it very likely that someone working for him would have access to the HS.

I guess Josh Ling is in trouble now...

Yup that's one of the things which makes this more substantial.  But the date Mr. Ling was offering up the tape (92) was before his work for Sansweet. (94)  The tape offering could be a reason why he got the job, on the other hand.  Sent over an e-mail, wait and see.

Hmm. Judging by those screenshots, the unavailability of the Zion Hybrid, and the complete lack of answers to my question, I guess I'll just go with the Google Videos version (which appears to be the WMAR?).

The short answer is the KCCI version is still the best, based on availability.

KCCI can be found fairly easily through Torrents and google and the like.

I used to think the KCCI version was the best, but Zions version is definitely better, actually way better to me, I just looked it over yesterday, Zion did a great job on this release, and I agree with him that this is probably the best this will ever be.

I don't think Zion's version has ever made it to the 'Spleen...maybe it's about time it did.

I agree. Zion's version is amazing when you consider the source that was used to create it. I'm shocked with the amount of detail that he was able to pull from the original recordings. Great job on the audio too.

Anyone know where to find the ZION version?

Just a reminder if you pick up the Zion version be sure to shoot the Rifftrax people some cash at their donate page if you've never bought the track from them before. Their work on it is particularly great.

How's the cartoon on BD? Is it cropped or anything? I know about the added edges but those could be cut off I guess. Just wondering if someone would want to make a hybrid of this hybrid and adding the cartoon from the BD to get best possible quality.

Definitely enjoyed watching Glee last night with their heavy SWHS basis... with all the people they target, could be some added pressure to GL to release it... you never know! Must have been based on a KCCI copy... easy to tell when you've seen it as often as I!

Zion's hybrid looks to be very interesting, but I have no clue what MySpleen is. Anyone care to enlighten me a bit?? I think it'd be good to see how good quality-wise that release is. From the screencap, it looks miles better (and clearer!) than all the others.

Thanks,

Here's hoping the pressure builds up enough over time that George finally relents and releases the thing...

Hey  Skot,

I was wondering which version of the holiday special was the best. Sadly, I'm not old enough to have seen this on TV, but I grew up with Star Wars and really enjoy watching weird spin-offs and such. So, if there is some way you could tell me which version is the best and where I can get it, (I'll gladly pay via paypal) I would be very grateful

Thanks,

Henry

No one here is going to ask for money for a copy of the Holiday Special (nor should they accept money for it!).  Your best bet is to look for the KCCI version, since it is the most common.  If you can find the Zion version, go for that one.  Getting it via torrent is the best way.  I'm going to take a guess that if you weren't old enough to see the special, you're probably young enough to be pretty tech and torrent-savvy.

Thanks Skot! Now I'll be able to watch the Special in all it's glory! (I use glory very loosely here)

I need two volunteers, maybe three. If you're interested then reply via PM.

What I have is a disc of Holiday Special miscellanea. I've been gathering material for years, archiving various videos, and now I'm trying to organize it. And I think I have a reasonable beta version.

The disc itself will be released later. Right now I need quality control and an outside viewpoint.

If you'd be willing to give it a serious critique, to analyze and then nitpick anything that seems out of place, then send me a PM.

Thanks,

Matt, I may be already on your Christmas list, but I'd be interested in reviewing what you've gathered.  Let me know if you need my info.
