Let's not make any force-choke puns, guys.
Star Wars fanatic choked his Thai bride to death after she destroyed his collection of toys
Clearly, there were issues involved that don't center on being an SW fan, but still...yikes! The media always fixates on these sorts of things.
Where were you in '77?
Let's not make any force-choke puns, guys.
She was also a mother.
To kill someone over children's toys.
Someone you took a vow to cherish and protect.
Does the UK have the death penalty?
“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.
I blame Star Wars.

B. I heard, keep in mind this is a rumor, but that his mom was a Sith Lord who had gotten the daughter-in-law to convert to the Dark Side, so this 'killing' was really the son's test, which he's failed (wahh wahh wahhhh) BUT daddio did go to his son who after watching the movies said that everything his daddy did was inline with the story so it's ok. all forgiven. dads a hero. Pyre at 11. (daddy needs time to make a uniform using the destroyed plastic toys)

Civilzed countries have abandoned the death penalty.
(yes this means I just called the USA uncivilized).
Uh oh. Political debate.

Wait, we're talking about the same civilized country that invented 38 different types of spoons, one for every occasion, right? I rest my case. ;)
Until we discover and utilize the Phantom Zone, all countries will remain uncivilized.
This is why i'm not high on SW. Of course i would get ticked if someone burned my SW novel collection. I wouldn't resort to murder though...Only 500 dollars worth of books.
It's more a case of the tabloids tipping a story into the novelty zone.
You have here a complex domestic situation.
A man with low self esteem entering into a financial transaction with a woman from a land with less economic opportunities.
Shades of mail order marriage, alleged domestic abuse of a man in a heterosexual relationship (something nobody seems to talk about but certainly does happen) and a murder.
If the man had collected ceramics those would have been the main components of the story (pottery just isn't 'pathetic' enough for tabloid readers).
Being working class and living on a modest estate, his life long collection was more probably plastic and being of a certain age, the chances of it being a Star Wars collection probably rather higher.
It's tragic for all involved but why tabloid writers and readers seem to think it's any of their business is a complete mystery to me.
It has pretty little to do with Star Wars.
Breaking something of symbolic and sentimental value is part of the repertoire of domestic abuse but it can also be a cry for attention in a relationship where one partner is obsessed with the superficial.
Fictional people are not as important as real people.
