"Changing classic movies at all is just wrong." Puggo

"HA, Ha, you r ghey" was probably a hilariously insulting comment in Elementary and Middle School, but its not cooly insulting anymore and its certainly not funny: it makes people who say it look like, well, an "inbred monkey." TheSessler

"I'm still %20 the wiser. It amused me that after doing a google image search for "The Final Milf" the second picture is Roger Delgado followed by lots and lots of porn." Bingowings

Thanks AvP. I will check those out when I get home.

Any of these would be good too:

Anybody know if there was a Story LP for Radiers?

Yes, there was a 'Story of' LP for Raiders, but it's slightly different than the usual 'Story of' LPs (ie, Star Wars) because there is no voice-over narration. It also goes by a slightly different naming convention "Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Movie on Record"

It's the same length as other story of LPs, though: 45-50mins long

http://ny-image0.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.246094296.jpg

It's also worth listening to because it contains sound takes that are not the same as the cinema release.

I only have an mp3 copy of this, unfortunately.  However, I do have an original copy of the 'Story of' Temple of Doom, which I could do a lossless rip of.

EDIT: I also have all the original Marvel comics adaptations sealed. In principle, I could make scans, but I'm kind anxious about opening them....

Having said that, I do also own the hardback annual UK print of the adaptation, which I don't mind scanning. Which are the 'missing scenes'?

Other stuff: I also own the Ballantine books' "Raiders of the Lost Ark Illustrated screenplay" from 1981 which contains all the storyboards....

EDIT: I'M AN IDIOT. I thought I was responding to a message on the last page. not the first. These questions have of course already been answered. lesson learned: don't post when you're half asleep!

I have 1080p versions of both the old CGI cliff transfer and the new (2009), non-CGI cliff transfer of RAIDERS.

The new one looks fantastic, much better than the DVD and its HD equivalent.

Apologies for the bump but wow. It's fascinating that they would revert to the old non-CGI cliff and just sit on a new transfer for awhile. I believe they are showing it in some theaters though, as the Castro Theater in SF is showing a copy with a new "Digital Restoration." Judging by the screen caps, that does look like a fantastic new transfer. Does anyone know if the new transfer still digitally removes the reflection between Indy and the snake?

By the way, I am looking forward to this project. The previous Jambe Davdar documentaries have been quite enlightening. Jambe, do you happen to already have this deleted scene from YouTube or a transfer of the Widescreen LD? I can provide a capture if need be.

If needed (didn't read the whole thread) I have the Widescreen Laserdiscs of the entire IJ Trilogy and the Making of/Great Stunts Laserdisc.

I'm willing to donate them to a good project...

Just saw the trailer for this on AICN. As a fan of SW Begins, Building Empire and Returning to Jedi I can't wait for this wonderful edit. Really looking forward to it.

Y'know, I just had a look and I think its there. Its extremely subtle though - and I've forgotten just how noticeable it was to begin with! Its been so long since I saw any version prior to the DVD release. I wonder if I still have my widescreen VHS handy...

Spielberg's recently gone on record saying he plans to never tweak any of his movies again (even planning to leave in visible wires in 1941) so it is encouraging.

Very excited about this. Are you in some desperate need to take up every free minute that you have Jambe? I've got some gardening to do if the itch is there to be scratched ;)

Thanks for the renewed interest. I don't think I'll bother with the cliff thing. It sounds like Spielberg will be releasing an unaltered version anyway. It's not like it has any real effect on the storyline. It's no "Han shot first".

Thanks again

I saw it earlier in the year. Really bad quality. Must be readying it for the blu ray release.

I didn't learn about this here, but on aintitcoolnews.com Pretty awesome.

Have to say, I loved your earlier work, but as Raiders is my favorite movie of all time, I'm giddy over this. Thanks for all the effort!

Jambe,

I can dig up my copy of the Rove Live interview if you want (mainly if you want the comedic effect). I originally posted about it here on the forum, way back when. However, while I posted it mentioning the Star Wars moment, he says a similar line about the famous improvisational moment where he shoots the swordsman. Let me know.

Further, while I've not managed to find a way to capture the stream directly (no stream capture program works), I've screen-recorded and compressed a 40 minute panel with several of the crew that worked on Raiders of the Lost Ark. It doesn't seem like you're aware of it. If you email me an address or something, I'll mail you a copy (ProRes or whatever you want, to keep quality as high as possible). I've inserted chapter markers in my space-saving h264 version for easy skipping through. I'm glad it was still online as I missed out on similar 'event' streaming videos that would've been nice for other projects.

Another thing I've saved (that for now is still available online should you wish to grab a copy yourself) is the full audio from the Q&A session (42min) with Spielberg and Ford at the 30th Anniversary Raiders screening from the other night at the LA Times Hero Complex (September 12th, 2011).

I really hope these three items are of some use and I'm sure the latter two certainly will be. Happy to contribute to this project however I can. :)

Hi

I would love it if you could dig out the interview.

Was the panel from the DGA night?

Also, I have the 42 min Q and A session, thanks.

Thanks for your help!

I will have to dig. 2006... blimey. But I do still have it on a spindle somewhere.

The panel was hosted by Eric Lichtenfeld and held at the 'home of the Academy Awards'. There were 8 people on the panel.

I wish they'd filmed that recent Q&A but at least someone got a decent audio recording. :)

No worries. I love your filmumentaries and only wish I could attempt one of my own for a film or two I love. Being 3/4 of the way through a filmmaking degree I don't have time for anything outside of class assessment work though. A shame.

I think I may also have an expanded bootleg of the score if you haven't already got a hold of that. It was a fanmade one collecting all the best sources and had a 'The Something-Something Edition' type subtitle. From the Demonoid glory days of 5-6 years ago.

By the way, if you (or anyone) needs an excellent, audiophile grade transfer of the "Movie on Record" LP, let me know.

Had a very good copy of the LP, used a pro Ortofon cartridge/stylus on the 1200MKII, had an outboard A-D converter and only cleaned up the pops that were neccessary.

In other words, yes, I am serious about my audio!

If enough people want it maybe I can post it on my blog...

Also, it's worth noting that this album is a lot more than just "no narrator and having a few alternate takes."

This album was a serious colaboration between Burtt and the Public Radio engineers that created the STAR WARS radio programs.  It's a from the ground-up audio reconstruction of the film, using all the original music, dialog and sound effects - but it IS a complete remix of the movie.

If you were to listen to the movie and LP simultaneously, very little of it would match!  In any case, it's an incredible sonic experience (everyone agrees it's sound quality is unmatched) and if you're a fan it's really cool to hear a totally different version of the movie.

I'm interested, if only to get you to update your blog! What have you been up to, Mojo? ;-)

But seriously, one of my (many) favorite parts of SWB was the alternate takes, so hopefully there are many more on this! Even if you have the album already, Jambe, I'm sure this is awesome quality.
