Well, we have to talk about something, otherwise Sevb32 will start shoveling dirt and delivering a eulogy. ;-}

LOL It's the best way to get people talking. Even if it brings insults to me, at least there is activity.

Seriously?

So what if there's no activity.  If there's no news, there's no news.  It doesn't mean the edit won't get done.

The music heard over "Bring my shuttle" is far better than the music heard over "Alert my Star Destroyer," too.

You mean the music is better utilized over "Bring my shuttle"

No, I'm fairly certain it's a different cue, necessitated by the addition of all those pointless "flying to the Executor" shots.  They're definitely both based around the Imperial March, but they're not the same cue.

That is what I meant

But you made is seem that the new music was not as good as the other, and I said no, it did not fit the scene, but it was good (its John Williams).

Although I grew up with the SE editions, and can dream them, the "bring my shuttle" line feels out of place to me, just used to the other thing.

BUT! In concept of the situation and the characters, the "bring my shuttle" line is SO much more appropriate, that they should have never replaced it.

wow, the SE versions still seem like they only came out yesterday to me and yet theres people who have grown up with the SE

This might make an interesting new thread.

You can never go home again, but i guess you can shop there.

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant.  The SE cue is inferior.  The original cue is better musically than the cue used in the SE.

Just because it's John Williams doesn't mean it's inherently as good as other John Williams.

Well it was composed for the movie, but not for the scene, so it was good for the movie, but not good for the scene they used in, it was tracked from when Vader tells Luke he is his father (but you already knew that)

Guys,

I don't know if it was earlier, but... I'm having one little idea:

Will there be audio commentary for the movie, looks like Lucas for 2004 DVD release, by Adywan, doubleofive, etc.?

sorry for my bad english...

Unfortunately, Ady will not be adding a commentary track.

Is it wrong that I find the new line both horribly amusing and entertaining?  It must be the tone... It's gotta be the tone!

If I recall correctly, "alert my Star Destroyer" is an unused line from the recording sessions for Star Wars, and is why it sounds so odd.  Take a listen, then watch the original film (the non-Revisited version with the original audio); it really does sound more like it fits there than in ESB, where James Earl Jones pitched his voice to the way we're now used to hearing it.  Ol' Vader was a bit more of a higher-pitched hothead in that one, particularly when interrogating Rebel prisoners on captured transports. :-)

I'm pretty sure the new line was recorded specifically for the SE. Just like Boba Fett's new voice and the new Emporer Hologram scene. If you compare Vader's voice to how he sounds in RotS, it's a match.

But "Alert My...." was done for the '97 edition, not the '04. It would have been easy to get the Jango Fett guy to record some lines for the '04 while he was around, but to fly in Jones for one line? Nah.

I'm guessing it's an ROTJ outtake, like the rest of that atrocious scene extension.

Wonder if we'll make it to 1,000 pgs before this edit is done.

I can't wait until ROTJR. I'm sure Ady's going to take a nice long vacation after this though. He definitly deserves it. ;)

Truthfully we are probably are at least 5 years away from ROTJ:R being done. (Just stating likely facts)

Hello, have been visiting this thread over the past few days, and I had a few questions I was wondering if anyone could clarify.

First, about the THINGS NOT BEING DONE:

   1. Not adding landing crafts to deploy AT-ATs.
   2. Not making the AT-AT lasers green.
   3. Not making it so the fleet jumps to lightspeed just before the credits.
   4. Not adding Mon Cal ships to the Rebel Fleet at the end.
   5. Not adding music from the prequels or music that wasn't originally in the movie.
   6. Not adding Luke's vision so it can be seen like Anakin's in ROTS.
   7. Not adding anything just because its in the Expanded Universe.  The EU doesn't exist for the purposes of this edit.

Are these not being done because they'd take too much effort, or are they things that exist but have been chosen for directoral reasons not to be added (besides #7 of course)?

And secondly, with the talk  of the blu-ray versions and its deleted scenes, perchance Lucas somehow came up with new scenes for ESB, would there be any possibility of them making it into this version?

More just that all those things are things which have been discussed here and which Adywan doesn't want us to waste time on when he's already categorically decided not to do them.

Here's what I remember Adywan saying about these things, artego:

He's not doing the things in the list because he doesn't think Empire needs any of those things, as (in his opinion) it's almost perfect as-is (or, as was, as the case may be).

That's the same reason why he will not be adding in any new scenes, regardless of what shows up on the Blu-Ray release.

However, he has not ruled out using deleted scenes from Jedi when he gets around to it, as he's going to be making radical alterations to that film anyway.  It really depends on what scenes are released, too.
