Regarding the RemoveGrain, RemoveDirt, etc., you only need one dll. Assuming you have a modern SSE2/SSE3 capable CPU, start with these versions.

I have a few questions about the plugins you uploaded OldSchoolJedi

When the mask tools rar is extracted a few folders apear along with the dll "mask tools" "common" "avs25" in the mask tools folder there are these: "limited sharpen faster" "mfToon-v0.54" and "vmToon-v0.74" Should these be placed in the avisynth plugin folder aswell? And the dll that came from this rar is name mt_masktools.dll, Is this now the preffered version of the dll over the other dll on page 7 called mt_masktools-26.dll?

When i extract the removedirt rar 3 dlls appear: removedirt.dll, removedirts.dll, removedirtsse2.dll; do they all need to be placed into the plugin folder or just removedirt.dll?

Same question with the removegrain rar, several "removegrain dll"s, several "repair dll"s several "ssetools dll"s should they all be placed in the plugin folder?

OldSchoolJedi, these filters will work for the ntsc version right? I know you were making adjustments to figure out how to get the script to work for pal way back when however i am doing this to the ntsc and wanted to be sure.

Thank you :)

I used repair.dll, RemoveGrain.dll, Removedirt.dll. If you have another CPU, you have to use the .dll as Moth3r stated.

Make sure that you have only one .dll in your Avisynth-plugin-folder what means do not place removedirt.dll, removedirtS.dll and removedirtSSE2.dll all together in the plugin folder. Then you might get errors, only use the .dll your CPU can work with.

You can use the .dll's for both NTSC and PAL. I used these plugins and it worked well.

How would i know if my laptop is SSE2/SSE3 capable, i have not heard of that yet.

1st error when trying to load that script as is in vdub:

Avisynth open failure: There is no function named "Median1" (...line 19)

Use the full script posted by g-force on page 1.

2nd error:

Avisynth open failure: There is no function named "contra" (...line 33)

Use the full script posted by g-force on page 1.

I am using the script found on page 1 of this thread "GOUT Filter By G-force V.15.00 USE ONLY ON ANH"

No, you're not.

Thanks for the reply. I copy and pasted the script from page 1 just now and only changed the directory for the d2v at the start, still "There is no function named "Median1"

Are you sure you copied the _entire_ script? The median1 function is clearly defined at the end...

Lol, okay, somehow i missed that last bit you mentioned Darth, sorry for cluttering up the thread here. unfortunately i still recieve this error now

"there is no function named "Msuper" (...line 39)

Again, sorry for missing those last parts of the script, don't know what i was thinking there.

You'll probably need to install, mvtools2dll. Here you go: http://www.sendspace.com/file/1ulevi

Thanks myscamore, i gave that a go, but i get this error now

There is no function named "NNEDI2" (...line 63)

I guess that the package Oldshooljedi uploaded isn't compatible with the latest updates made to the script, just download the nnedi2.dll then.

Thanks :)

Should i run the gout through that guide first? Could that speed things up?

I'm trying to make this into a lagarith and its currently turtling along at 0.69fps. I know the script is slow, but is it supposed to be that slow?

It depends on what kind of computer you have. The script is slow, my last encode took five days! but I have a pretty slow computer. But 0.69fps sounds very slow.

That's the kind of speed I get, when I render out the script.  :-(  It will be a long wait, I'm afraid...

^ Consider yourself lucky!  I'd happy with any rendering time that was measured in hours rather than days.  I don't think Rogue has anything to worry about.  It sounds as if his machine is just as slow as mine.

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who helped me getting this script working, and thank you G-force and all who contributed in the improvements toward the script! THANK YOU :-)

The NTSC GOUT versions for ANH and ESB are better sources than the PAL, so use those and incorporate PAL conversion if you must.  The script for ROTJ is already written for the PAL GOUT because in this case it is the better source.

Thanks Chewtobbaca I thought this was the case but just thought I would check :)

One more question while I am here, is it better to colour correct the GOUT before or after running the G-Force script?

Many Thanks

If applying the ROTJ script to an NTSC copy, what lines would I need to alter?  From what I can see, the following would have to be omitted:

########## change framereate (PAL to NTSC)
AssumeFPS(24000,1001)

While the following would have to be modified:

########## cut off some of the black bars for faster processing (but keep mod 16)
Crop(0,112,0,-112,align=true).AddBorders(8,0,8,0)

########## resize to 16x9 AR, remove sides, add borders
Spline16Resize(744,396).Crop(18,16,-12,-16,align=true).AddBorders(3,58,3,58)

Is that everything, or would other lines need alterations too?  Also, would it be sufficient to replace the portions above with the corresponding portions from either the ANH or ESB script?

@corellian77

From what I understand, g-force wrote the script specifically for the PAL version of ROTJ because the master is different and the issues are slightly different.  I don't think it can be easily modified to fit the NTSC by changing a few lines: it would need a significantly different script.

@Lee

I assume you would apply the script beforehand.  If so, you would need to decide if you wanted to keep g-force's tweaks or make all the adjustments for yourself.

Been thinking of trying G-Force's script for a while. Tried it once before, which was unsuccessful, mostly due to problems with my computer. I am hoping if I can get a six core AMD cpu or old skt 1366 i7 cpu on the cheap, then I should be good to go. Hopefully I can add as many audio options and tweaks to them as possible and have my own ultimate customised version. Would be a nice little fun project to do for oneself.:-P

Out of curiousity what is the average processing time for this script on a quadcore computer?
