Sand...Why does it have to be sand...?
The man obsessed by snowflakes and grains of sand makes a lot of sense in this case. ;)

haven't been here for a bit, so ady's moved the release date to 2011?
Ady do you know this?

Yeah, I remember reading this article back in '04, it was the first time I've ever heard of after effects. I've always said that these menus were the best damn thing about the othervice horrid 2004 DVDs. I mean, they're awesome. And they aren't even based on the same shity transfer as the DVDs.
Thanks for that link.........really interesting stuff. I have always loved those menus as well.
Just goes to show the incredible potential that is out there.
Have a look at this project, looks preety good...

Do you like astromech droids? Check The Astromech Collection fan page!
That's interesting but a little bit off topic, maybe you should make a separate thread about it.
Back to the menus: There are some awesome new shots in those menus that would IMO be cool to use in ESB:R.
Just found this while searching for sounds for my own edit.
http://www.starwars.com/vault/books/sounds_of_star_wars/index.html
"In The Sounds of Star Wars, an aurally astonishing and visually engaging book, New York Times best-selling author J. W. Rinzler reveals the illuminating history behind the sounds of the Star Wars universe. With behind-the-scene stories, photographs and sound clips, fans will discover the origins of sounds from their favorite scenes. An attached sound module with an exterior speaker and headphone jack lets readers listen to more than 250 unique sound effects. More than 300 photographs illustrate the Saga's many memorable scenes."
It would be a lot more straightforward (and less kiddy) if they'd included all the sounds on a CD, however I'm sure there's some technically minded folk out there who could jerry-rig a means to extract the sounds from the module (or just use the headphone jack to record directly). I'm assuming the sounds are of a decent enough quality if they've thought to incorporate a headphone jack.
This'd truly be my (and any fan editor's) dream come true, and would come in handy for any of Ady's future edits.
The CG'd menus are only available in SD and to me look fake & would stand out more than the SE added footage.
I think Angel was underlining the potential of 3D camera projection.

I'm thinking the simplest, but most time-consuming, method of getting these sounds would be to do exactly as you suggested: run a line from the headphone jack to the mic input on a computer, then simply record the sounds in something like Audacity. Mind you, who's to know how good the quality would be.
“It’s a lot of fun… it’s a lot of fun to watch Star Wars.” – Bill Moyers
I wouldn't expect the sounds to be better quality than the Utilities I am sharing right now via torrents. I have heard comporable gimmicky books with sounds that aren't even 8 bit quality. They are not much better than the Kenner/Hasbro 12" electronic action figures.
I guess we won't know until it's released some time in October. With the amount of sounds there are, it would be a real shame if they were of poor quality.
speaking of sounds has fredstar updated his collection of sounds from the soundboards?

Great :( took a big chunk out of my thumb while building the PC workstation and it's still poaring with blood after almost 3 hours. I'll never get this thing finished.

Ady must feel like he's on Big Brother. lol.
ESB:R should have an Easter Egg scene of Ady getting his new robotic thumb fitted by 21B before hugging his family in readiness for starting work on ROTJ:R.

You are a few days late. Better figure out a better way to hijack the thread.
Lol, that sucks, missed it by one week. However, the links Bjedi posted went unnoticed for the most part. I think one person referred to it. Guess I will delete that post.

It's a long thread full of knots, slack should always be thrown when possible if you want to avoid rope burns.
Well I'm glad you posted it as it had previously passed me by. Favourited :)
I don't follow this thread any more. The good stuff is hidden between too much that is off-topic. I have better things to do in my spare time than to wade through twenty pages of cruft each time I go here.
Good luck AdyWan! Here's looking forward to seeing the result, whenever, ifever, it is released.
Off-topic crap removed.
