GOUT image stabilization - Released — Page 32

Well, after a very long time of trying to figure out Avisynth, and everything that goes along with it, I began a test encoding. Looks like each movie would take about 10 days. And that may be just for the first pass! To say the least, I don't have enough time for them to complete! I think I'm having some sync issues as well. Hard to tell for sure, or if it will become worse, since it takes me 20 minutes to test a few seconds!

So if any DIY'ers have already done V and VI for DVD5, it would really really help me out.

Edit: (trying to give the darkjedi ones a look now... though I'm not totally clear on what they are yet... g-forces, but with better audio? - the amount of info, versions, and work here on these forums is endless! Incredible!)

Thanks again everyone for the time and help.

I ended up showing the Dark_Jedi GOUT Image Stabilized with 5.1 audio, and it turned out great! Everyone really enjoyed them. Thanks again to him, and g-force, and all involved with this. I can't tell you all how much I appreciate it.

Thanks for the compliment but, supposedly G's DVD5 version with freeware encoder is WAAAAAY better, sure would love to see this mysterious script enhancement myself and try it out,but does not look like that is going to happen, because my PC does not take no where near as long as some of these other guys gear to render and encode.

I find your lack of faith disturbing...

g-force said:

I won't be posting the updated script until all movies are complete and checked, but ANH is encoded.

g-force said:

the new script will be posted once I'm done with all 3.

g-force said:

Don't worry, I'll get ROTJ done eventually, and then I'll post all of the scripts.

Regarding ANH sample, the ****** RAR,s aren't compressed. Grab any one of the parts and open with VLC....

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

I actually burnt this for the first time today, and the resulting disc doesn't play well on both my stand alone players.  :-O  Up until now I have only played it through my media player.

On my Pioneer BDP-51FD it says "cannot play this format" just when the crawl is about to begin, and stops.  My Toshiba EP-30 does better in that it plays through the credits, but then stutters in the long pan down just before the Tantive IV and the Star Destroyer appear, seems to reset and then plays on.

Has anyone else experienced this on these players?  It was burnt with good media.  I suppose I could try downloading this again, but I don't usually have a problem.

Was Besweet used for the audio?

I get a stutter on the opening crawl and first few minutes as well, but it goes away after awhile.

It sounds like poeple are having difficulty with the ****** version. That's too bad. I have had some people PM me for SW and ESB, with the promise of ****** ** *******, but their circumstances are preventing them from doing it at this time. Maybe some more people will have to PM me ;)

Hey man, what's with the hostility? Yeah, they're DVD5, but all the menus and extras are stripped off, and these are not nearly DVD quality anyway, so they really don't need two layers.

And yeah, it's a freeware encoder, but stacks up with (and blows away a few of) the big boys, especially when you tweak the settings and play around with various matrices.

And the only reason I'm holding back the scripts is because ROTJ is not done yet. Some of the settings had to be different between SW and ESB, and I'm sure some will be different with ROTJ. I just didn't want the SW or ESB script applied to ROTJ, because I know it can be better. I just need some more time to work on it.

It's certainly a pity.  This is a great release.  I wonder why the ****** version is giving people problems.  I'd love good copies of SW and ESB, but I suppose I'll have to wait.

I have redownloaded this and will try to burn it again to confirm that there is a problem.

I agree that a DVD5 is adequate for this, and HC is a great encoder, so no problems there either.  I would recommend eac3to for the audio rather than Besweet as Pioneer players seem to have problems with anything encoded with ffmpeg/libaften and eac3to lets you choose another encoder.

I'm quite confident the ******* file matches the disc ****** **** **.
I've ripped that disc at least four times (at least twice each, on two different computers.)
Every time I've gotten the same CRC value, which the ****** file also shares:
1D930F31

Thank you for the information.  I did not mean to imply that you had done something wrong: I was just wondering because G-Force said people seemed to be having a problem with that version, which seemed to imply that there were others.

I am extremely grateful for your efforts, otherwise I wouldn't be able to watch it at all.  As I said, it plays fine on my media player, which can play almost anything.  It is just a shame that I can't burn perfect working copies for friends.

edited - Just an update! I redownloaded and burnt it again and experienced the same issue.  The film stops at exactly the same points, so it wasn't the burn or the extraction or anything like that.

Custom DVD rule alert guys - if you didn't make the disc yourself, please keep the how/what/where you got it from discussion off the forum.

Sorry, Moth3r!  Again!  I thought I was being sufficiently circumspect.  I shall try to be more so in future.

When you do post you're new script I'd love to see what the differences are. I have completed encoding all movies using the current script, taking around 40hrs per movie. I suggest you add the option to export at a 720x304 size (since that is perfect for any MPEG-4 version) with subtitle placement adjusted accordingly. If you could also include a list of custom filters required it would help (I had to acquire them manually). It also seems as if some people don't realize that they don't need to let the script run for both "passes", anyone who's going to encode this is all you have to do: 1. open the .avs in vdubmod, 2. select "Save As", 3. Under "Video mode" choose "Direct stream copy", 4. Use the AVI instead of the AVS to encode.

I hope you'll continue to work on avisynth scripts for future HQ LD rips (should they come from Aleksbmw and/or others - but I believe they will), and for the 2004 SE (since once it's colour corrected a more modern "hybrid" version can be spliced together from either the GOUT or from other LD versions). Thanks for your work man, I know I've found it useful for my DVD's!

I was really impressed with ROTJ through this script, really makes it look on par with modern DVD transfers (maybe it was a lot easier to scan then the other two movies?) It's just a shame that SW and ESB suffer from more ghosting and a softer picture. I'd also forgotten to correctly set the subtitle placement, so I had to do it in the XVID stage (which wasn't a problem since the placement was off the picture completely - but it does reiterate the need to have this option preset so that people can decide if they want to leave it at non-anamorphic resolution, upscale to anamorphic or convert to a fully cropped 1:1 pixel ratio). In any case an incredible result, and somehow miles above the retail quality.

The guide above is applicable to both NTSC and PAL DVDs. Which part of it are you having trouble with?

I've been sort of following this and was thinking that if any significant milestone has been accomplished, would it be possible to post a screencap from the official dvd and the new enhanced video for comparison purpose?

And am I sensing this is not something we could get a copy of, it only tells us what we could do with our dvd disks? Cause there's no way I could understand what all these video things do unless I could get a demo session from someone else here. (you know what, if I had a stable paying job, I think I would actually offer up some compensation for personal tutorials from some of the knowledgeable members here but that's getting off topic.) Anyways, if the enhanced video version is not available to be traded for or what not, that's fine, I'll just stick with the official dvd's. But I am curious in seeing how much improvement there has been, and am wondering would it be noticeable on a regular playback?

I do have another question, for those that converted their official dvd's to anamorphic widescreen with nothing else modified, how long did that take with the simplest method?

Sorry guys, I still haven't had time to do ROTJ. I decided to just post the scripts for ANH and ESB (see the first page).

ROTJ will get done eventually, and a few people around here already have ESB, so hopefully this will make some others happy in the mean time.

Thanks for posting the ANH script, g-force. I'm currently working on collating details for the various Custom DVDs that have been done, so I can use this to generate screenshots to demonstrate what your script output looks like.

Thread is here if you wanted to check and/or correct any details about your disc.

Thank you for posting these, I'll make final encodes when I find the time (can't actually wait).

You deleted the line

'PAL = false       # <-----Set to false for NTSC, true for PAL'

in you final scripts so are these only for NTSC-DVDs?

These do look pretty good, to bad ROTJ is still not ready, I have ANH done and ESB will be done tonight, although I did change the size, the position, the color, and the font used on this script, there will be an optional version for you guys on the groups, I plan on doing these up for a 3rd time with optional audio's again and doing a multi-pass CCE SP2 encode, more details will follow in my own thread, but would like input on what audio options everyone would like to see on all 3, even though ROTJ is not done.

That is very generous of you, Dark Jedi.  As long as these have the stereo mix, I will be happy.
