Well...to each his own, of course. But to me, it doesn't sound epic at all. More like I'm laying down to get a stress-relieving massage, which is nice of course, but not exactly epic.

I think it's perfect.  After all the stress of worrying if those cute cuddly Ewoks will survive, the only thing that calms me down is a nice massage.

That's how I feel. The heroes have fought hard and long to defeat the evil, and now we are seeing them experience piece. The song is peaceful sounding, but still evokes a nostalgic feeling of "this is the end, and what was wrong has been set right." It seems wholly appropriate that the saga end with a peaceful sounding song, because unlike ANH this is not the beginning of something far bigger, but a winding down of decades of galactic conflict.

The trouble with both Yub Nub and its replacement is that they're so different, stylistically, from the rest of the score of the series. The result is that they call too much attention to themselves. There was a mock-up I liked a while ago of an extended ending which used the concert version of the Force March included on the ROTS soundtrack album. I can't remember who made it, might have been SSWR.

Underwear removal?  I'm not sure the "wishlist" is for those kinds of wishes. ;-)

It makes more sense to have them removed. What do you think those pieces of fabric are for? George Lucas even said there's no underwear in space... didn't he?

Did he? When, where, and why?

During the making of ANH. It was the reason Carrie Fisher had to go bra-less under her costume, which caused certain... issues, resulting in having to tape down her breasts.

Er...that's not how I feel.  'Twas just a joke.

I heard that the bra strap was showing through the costume due to the thin material used, and so they decided go with tape instead (and for those of you who are unaware "tape" refers to athletic tape which is what women used before sports bras came along, so get those duct tape fetish images out of your noggins), but I was unaware of this being part of some canological "underwear doesn't exist in Star Wars" rule. The look of the costume would have been ruined if you could see a bra strap through it, and it didn't make sense to go back and re-design it when they could just ditch the offending undergarment. Maybe I'm wrong, but whatevs.

Also, I don't mean to be a prude, but I think that removing the underwear from Leia's slave outfit is unecessarily risque (even considering the costume itself, lol), especially since the movie is rated PG. A few frames of digitally painted on ass seems like a kind of frivolous change to make.

LOL, knowing that it was supposed to be a joke only makes it funnier. ;D

I still like the ROTJ special edition ending song, though. Also, it's tied to a piece of music from Episode I, so I think that it serves well in bringing the saga full circle musically.

I was under the impression it was gaffer tape.  Hence "Gaffer Tape" and his Leia avatar.

And I already get weird enough hits on my blog without adding the words "remove Leia's underwear." ;-)

Gaffer tape would have only made the problem worse since gaffer tape is black, and as any girl will tell you, you don't wear a black bra under a white shirt (or in this case, black gaffer tape).

Hello guys, mesa back!

I think i'll just pop in with a request, if it hasn't been asked yet.
The lightning from the emperor in RotJ really bugged me, because it actually has no 'depth', if you know what i mean?

Is Ady going to change this?

I completely agree with you RoccondilRinon, it needs to go more classic John Williams…

Wow this is reeeeeally good, I mean compare to the original. Some very good ideas are putted here, Han's akward kiss back to leia removal, R2 & 3PO comment, the fleet going away in space (with more shots of Akbar, we all love that lobster man :) ), I know it repeating ESB but I just love that Falcon/Luke's x-wing flying apart shot and the hyperspace closing.
I like "the adventure continues" spirit of it, it fits well with the serial aspect of the saga. Overall it's simply "more Star Wars" great job!

I can think of some improvements though:
-keep the SE celebration around the galaxy shots, as it links the two trilogy
-shorten the Ewok celebration or enhance it with dialogs and chattering
-get Sebastian Shaw back of course
-Akbar's dialog is not great IMHO, change it  to something else, like dialog with the heroes for example
-get rid of Han's "Yaooooh" at the end, it doesn't work with his previous state of mind, and it's silly
-beware of the "neverending ending" effect (à la Lord Of the Ring), try to make it not too long ;)

anyway great ideas here SSWR1…

Thanks for the feedback guys! I would agree with all of your improvement ideas...except maybe adding back the SE celebration around the galaxy shots. I don't hate the shots really...and I agree that it helps link the saga together visually...I don't know...it all happens so quickly...although that could probably be smoothed out with some editting.  Thanks! :)

Personally, I can't say I care for the SE celebration stuff... it just came across as completely ill-fitting visually to the rest of the OT and storywise it was "too soon" for people to be celebrating (LOTS of work still to do).  I think other than some fine tuning, your JEDI ending is near perfect - an actual bit of melancholy in the ending too, which I really like, considering that one of the things that I remember about STAR WARS and EMPIRE was feeling a bit sad that the movie was over.  I never felt that way about JEDI, nor any of the other PT films.

You're welcome :)

We could put those SE celebration shots as an insert into the end credits, but it would be just not star wars :p

I think the SE new ending score should stay (the only real major improvement of the SE to me), as well as original Lapti Neck.

It wouldn't be such a bad idea to have a 70's television kind of an ending.

Have the throne room song playing, but show each character smiling with:

Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian. Harrison Ford as Han Solo, things like that. It would be cheesy, but it could work nicely. Just happy shots with each character.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

By the way, the mockup I mentioned was by SSWR: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUJL7c3-yro

I like the idea, but I really think the music of the 2004DVD is much better because it sounds more 'harmonic'. I'd also like it more if you kept the links to the prequel places and stuff. It's a great bridge to me.

But in the end it was really well done, and I like the 'the saga continues' - feeling, thought it is a bit cheesy xD But hey, it's a mock-up

How about this for an end credits song
