Interesting concept. I've owned the SE cassette tapes for ages (I always called them the best thing to come out of the SE), and never really had a problem with them. I've never really heard the CDs outside of the occasional mp3 rip. The idea that something sounds better definitely makes me want to look into it. Especially since I've been mostly using my Sansa of late. The record rips are a nice idea too. Though the use of the real Jedi songs is the best part, as I don't need to switch to my old 83 tape.

Hmm, when was that imposed? I've had that image there for years. Shame to retire it, but oh well.

If you want to compare them, you'd better take the Anthology because I worked mostly from it... And enjoy !

As I said in the very first post of this topic, I never was 100% pleased with my Empire Strikes Back Remaster. Listening carefuly both the Anthology and the SE's these days and tinkering with the sound I found out much better can be done from this score (and I think from ANH too)...

By the way my last post was wrong: the SE's are not so "over". A lot is over on them, but there's a lot of material to be taken there. Some of the tracks have not the stereo corrupted and once remastered the music instruments sound ace !The Anthology is not better on all points I must say: they've done only the half of the job... And I begin to wonder if they just discovered the stereo enlargment filter, sounds like it sometimes.

Is that to artificially make the sound field wider?

Anyway, I know that whenever you release an updated version, I'll download it for sure! You've done fine work so far and if you think you can get it sounding better, great! :)

 Yes, A kind of algorythmic effect I think. Makes the sound "sweat".

I never wrote a review of these things when I first downloaded your set months ago. I simply adore them, and they're a pleasure to listen to through my cheap-yet-colorful Grado SR-60is. I'm also looking fwd to the Optimum Edition of Empire and am downloading the Film Edit one right now. I'm not well-versed in audio editing, and I haven't listened to the tracks 'critically' (e.g. without letting my mind wander into the music too much) so I can't speak to some of the details some people point out here, but regardless - these are phenomenal. Thank you very much for your hard work - it is much appreciated!

 ... Ah, so bad, I would have love to hear a little more about what LastSilmaril mentioned as to be "a little rough on the edges" in the Optimum thread ! ... Though it must be true.

Also, and despite this, could you please mention it is a restoration project as to let the remixings and restorations details included with the set (in the case you'd have reuploaded it and removed the sheet). Thanks.

And please, I rode you've redone the covers for the film version cut, would you be kind enough to show us that in the appropriate thread too ? I'd love to see those.

Just wondered, as far as this thread gets lost (excepted that I just bumped it), and as this work has been uploaded to the alt.binaries.starwars, if there are feedbacks, descriptions or reviews there? Just a question that crossed my mind, as I don't know the place and don't need to. Sounds like a SW supermarket...

I've never used a newsgroup thingy, but I hope someone else can report back on that for us.
