Worst Edit Ideas — Page 2

A "grindhouse" edit of ANH is an idea that could become a work in progress for me.

Puggo is okay for me to use his 16 mm preservation edit (thanks to him).

I think I may steal some ideas from this thread! And the R2 subtitles are a must have.

Still not 100% sure I'll do this edit though, but if I have enough ideas by myself I may start in a month or two.

So for this edit, bad ideas are good ones!

You know you have my support TMBTM.  Hoping this really does happen - it would be a blast!

The head bumping Stormtrooper could become the Jar-Jar of the OT, constantly causing havoc switching off the tractor beam (before Ben gets a chance to), shutting the blast doors while other troopers are still inside cutting them in half, all the time bragging how great he is and gossiping about trival events in his life (like the stormies in Jedi Outcast). At the end of ANH he could accidently stumble into an escape pod meant for Tarkin and survive to continue his buffoonery in the whole OT.

The Dianoga (in obvious CGI) could make random appearences around the station pulling background characters through vents without anyone else noticing.

Replace General Veers with a bottle of wine.

Give all the Force users in the OT the same powers and acrobatic skills that the Jedi and Sith have in the PT (backflipping Ben etc).

Has this been suggested to the admin? Doesn't seem like a bad idea.

Check out the majority of threads on this website at the moment and you will get some fantastic ideas for this thread.

I like my Star Wars as I saw it in the theatre. Sorry!!

Aren't the majority of threads on this website just preservations of the various versions of the theatrical cut?

Currently looking for the following preservations: V8 A Final Attempt by Arnie.D, Pre-ANH Bootleg Telecine, Starkiller '77 bootleg, LD OT by Cowclops, LD OT by Dr. Gonzo, LD OT by Farsight, LD OT by ISOMIX, LD OT by Dark/Sega Take 1, TPM Theatrical by Adywan, OT - Deliberate Creative, OCPMovie's Classic Editions, Pan & Scan O-OT Project, LD OT by EditDroid, Lucasfilm Pwnage Editions, Negative1 CED Preservations, Starkiller CED Preservation, Rowman bonus discs, BLAK0004, BLAK0009, BLAK0010, BLAK0016, BLAK0017, BLAK0029, BLAK0040, BLAK0046, BLAK0047-0050. Also a good preservation of the 97 SEs.

How about we go through and take out Artoo's beeping, and put in dialogue... to make the film easier to follow? I think he should have a cockney accent.

I was seriously thinking about subtitling R2 and Chewie.  I think it would be fun to try to figure out what everyone else is responding to.  Not in a serious way of course, but a fun side edit for someone.

We could dub Chewie, and he should talk like The Fonz.

I've always kind of wished we could get the original dailies from shooting, in which the actors for Greedo, Vader, and Chewie, and I think even Artoo and possibly the Jawas, were talking in English to give the other actors something to respond to. I'd like to see that cut of the film, and if those lines are in any copies of the screenplay that we have access to, it would be pretty easy to get some amateur voice actors and re-dub the lines, at the very least.

In the interests of diversity, Han and Chewie could be a couple.

After Luke asks "how did my father die?", Obiwan could tell him the WHOLE story. It would start: "this is going to take a while, now, try not to laugh..."

"So there I was, balls-deep in a midget..."

Yeah, wonderful ! Humor is the best approach and the most creative one through fan-editing, notably concerning Star Wars I think. Go ahead !

Exactly!  You know that R2 is told to watch his language a few times, maybe he swears all the time.  Even if 3PO directly translates what he's saying ("He says that he's found her and keeps repeating she's here") 3PO could be editing R2 for content, if you know what I'm saying.

That's why R2 talks in beeps. It's his factory installed Galactic Censorship chip. Notice how no one else has the balls to swear. But R2? He's not afraid of the man.

Admin was all set to create separate forums back in... [goes to check]... April. Didn't happen because the required functionality is not in this version of the forum software.

I shall now go and give him a poke...

Dub in Steve Carrel's voice from The Office saying "that's what she said" via comlink during the Death Star raid in ANH, as if he is an unseen off-screen X-Wing pilot, or maybe he is at the rebel base or something.

Everytime someone says something that would apply, the dialogue could pop up.

Wedge: "Look at the size of that thing!"

Comlink: "That's what she said!"

Red Leader: "Negative, it didn't go in. Just impacted on the surface."

Comlink: "That's what she said!"

Biggs: "Will we be able to pull out in time?"

Comlink: "That's what she said!"

Etc. Etc. Etc.

So you're saying that adding Blade Runner music is a bad idea, right?
