Watching A New Hope on Spike HD.....

I'm new to the forum and wanted to ask a quick question.

I own many, many editions of the Original Trilogy from the mid 80's to the recent 2006 DVD re-release in the US.  After seeing A New Hope aired on Spike TV in HD in a restaurant, I would love to see the complete trilogy in high def.  Sadly, Dish Network does not offer Spike HD.  After doing a seach, I see there are no plans to release a retail HD version of the trilogy.  So here we go...

Since I already own many of the original retail copies, is there a legal way I can get the trilogy in 1080p?  I do have a blu-ray player (PS3) and to see the trilogy this way would be a true experience.  I know this is may be a messy subject and I do not want to be banned for my first post.  :-)  If this question cannot be asked, feel free to lock this post.  If it can be asked in a different forum or in a different manner, please direct me to the proper location.

This is probably a pretty simple question to the forum regulars so any and all help would be appreciated.

Legal ways to get the trilogy in 1080p:

  1. Subscribe to Spike TV (if it's not available via satellite, get cable instead. I'm not in the US so excuse my ignorance...)
  2. Wait for the blu-ray release.
  3. Upscale your DVD.

There are also, however, several illegal ways to get the trilogy in HD. Take a look at the following threads:

I'm now closing this thread because it doesn't belong in the technical discussion forum.
