Actually this is my first time using this forum. I'm actually part of fanedit.org and I started a thread about this idea (which is now a reality). I had no intention or knowing of your version, but I would love to see your version to compare to mine. Please send me a PM and we can work out the rest.

no problem - great minds think alike, eh?

mine was my first fan edit - so it's nothing too great - I just reworked it so I'd be able to watch it without fast forwarding through endless monotony and cheese.

I'll PM you soon about a swap or whatever.

I can't wait to see another version

EDIT: i meant "without" - not "with'

Kudos to you, Bob!

This is a project I had hoped someone would try to undertake at some point. Hard to believe, but there is actually some salvageable material in there that would make a great little TV episode type Star Wars story.

You know, when the Special aired in France the French took it upon themselves to edit it as well. They did a similar thing, taking out most of the really campy material. I will eventually be posting an article on it on the starwarsholidayspecial.com detailing the differences. The Swedes edited it as well, but not quite as heavily. Definitely some lesser-known facts about the show.

I wish someone had a copy of the French Airing. I would have synced the English audio to it, turned it into a dual audio preservation and probably would have added subtitles.

I do have the French version as well as the Swedish one, but the video quality is very poor on both and wouldn't make for suitable source material for a fan edit. I don't have a lot of hope of turning up better, unfortunately... they are difficult enough to find as-is.

If you could even though the quality is not very good, could you please rip them for me? I am skilled in video/audio restoration and I would love to fix them up and preserve them. If you can do this I would be so happy.

I made my own de-campified version too. I just took out some of the stupidest stuff. That Jefferson Starship scene. That singing virtual girl. The cooking show scene. That guy who runs down on energy and has a slow voice. It made it alot more watchable. But the video quality still sucks alot of the watchability out of it.

I used the KCCI Version of the Special for good quality and to keep it watchable.

I have put aside the Audio Enhancing for a bit to work on the Video Enhancement. I have increased the Brightness and Saturation to give the video a more warmer feeling and remove bad lighting in the film. I will post pics once the file finishes encoding.

Just finished the re-coloring and will be working on the sound next. I'll post some pics of the progress in about 15 minutes.

Sounds like fun. I agree about not cutting Leia's singing (however cheesy it was) ... but otherwise, this may indeed make a watchable-while-sober SWHS.

Wookiee porn been cut too I take it?

The re-coloring has blurred your images. I'd rather see a sharper image than correct (?) colors.

Yea I know. Like I said though quality is subject to change, I'm still fiddling around with the settings and I'm pretty close to getting exactly what I want.

Maybe I'm being anal, but it looks like your encodes are very blocky. This will be fixed for the final, right?
