So, anyone get this thing? Looks like a lot of useless junk like stickers and patches but theres also a good assortment of interesting stuff in there like rare photos, script excepts, historical info and rare interviews. I would like to get this thing but the hefty price tag has scared me away; even at the $60 price at Amazon it still looks a bit expensive. Seeing it in stores though it certainly is impressive looking on the shelf. Its sealed in plastic naturally so impossible to browse through.

Anyone here plunked down the money for this?

I haven't yet, and I'm hesitant to, unless I can look at it first. I'd also be interested in hearing detailed info about he contents from anyone who owns it.

In Louisville KY,I went to a Booksamillion and They had one opened. I looked through it and was quite impressed.however, They could've put more BTS stuff in there. But still it's good.

I bought it on Friday. I got it for $30 at a Books Are Fun fair. Very nice for the money. This version doesnt come with the CDs though.

One thing I have to ask is whats the deal with the ESB treatment from 1977? I had heard there was an excerpt of it or something.

I don't own it, but I have leafed through it and it's pretty interesting - lots of pullouts and stickers and iron ons and reproductions - it's like a pop up book for grownups!

In any case, I do think 60 bucks is a bit high, but it does look worth it. I'll probably pick it up once the price goes down to something like 30-40 bucks

Okay I was strolling through a local bookstore [Angus and Robertson] and saw they have two copies of the Vault instore. The pricetag was $109 AUD which feels a bit steep, Although it's a fairy hefty looking tome. They were wrapped in plastic so I'm wondering if anyone who's checked them out feels this is a worthwhile price for the content contained within.

This versions includes 2 audio cd's and is in a sort of fancy cover.

Does the book have any PT content? I would be even less likely to buy it if it does.

If I do decide I like it, I'll probably also wait for the price to go down. I got the Star Wars Scrapbook on clearance at Barnes&Noble for $5 or $6 (reduced from about $30 or so) and the same thing happened with the Action Figure Archive book from a few years back. I bought it at Borders for $30 and then I found it at B&N for like $6 (so I bought it and took the other one back to Borders).

The book comes with 2 CDs, and the first disc contains Leia's Life Day Song from the Holiday Special. Looks like Lucas is at least finally willing to own up to its existence (the comments about the HS in the book are far from complimentary, by the way).

It's an organization that goes around to various businesses and most likely schools selling books. They setup booths at your business and sell all kins of books at a discount.

I picked this up at Costco for $49.95. Well worth it for me; I planned on buying it the moment I heard about it both because 1. the Holiday Special Life Day song was included, and 2. Pete Vilmur worked on this, and he's the man when it comes to this stuff.

I haven't had time to give it more than a compulsory skim, but so far I'm very pleased with it. Yes, it's steep... but oh the goodies you get!

When you've had a chance to examine it more thoroughly, could you give us more details about what's included?

I'll try to do that. And yes, I'd say it was worth it so far.

This entry at the Star Wars blog links to a virtual peek at the book on the site of the French publisher and also has a quick video preview sent by HarperCollins. Not much but still worth checking IMHO.

Thanks that was helpful. I noticed that the zoom-in for the last spread (w/the ROTS lava pics) was wrong. It's actually a zoom-in of another spread.

Ok, say for example I wanted either The Vault or Making of Star Wars for Christmas, which would you guys recommend?

The Making of Star Wars is the single greatest "extra" ever produced for the series, book or otherwise. Get it.

I think most people (including myself) would recommend "making of".
