Hi guys,

I am on the scrounge again.

1) I am looking for all your original Jabba scene photographs. If you have any photos of Jabba as played by Declan Mulholland, I would be grateful if you could post them here or send them to me. This includes hi-res scans of the Marvel adaptation please.

2) Here is my Jabba reconstruction so far. I've not done any proper colour correction yet, just a few tweaks. Any suggestions would be appreciated. If anyone has compositing experience please get in contact.

3) If any of you want to come to my house and colour correct all the portions of the Jabba scene, please volunteer now! Seriously.

Wow. That's brilliant! It is too bad Declan isn't still alive. It would be awesome to track him down at a con and have him record the needed lines.

I'll dig through the files at home and see what I have Jabba wise. Actually, I think most of my ANH cut scenes pics ended up on the DVD-ROM portion of Deleted Magic. I'll see if I have anything new.

Is there is a chance there could be any good material in the "star wars vault" release in Oct/Nov?

I may have a chance here to get a hold of it early, like within the month. Not sure what audio content is on the cds.

Will you in any way be looking into the notorious scene where Luke supposedly misses the first time he throws the grappling hook?

it's an issue you could bring up though. I remember just casually watching it awhile ago, and I swear I saw him miss it myself, then I looked back, and the way the sequence is edited, it seems as though he actually tries and misses if you're not paying attention, or if you're just remembering back on it, like thinking it only happened in the theater. I think it's when Luke is pulling out some slack on the cord, and it cuts real quick mid-pull to the ledge or something, then cuts back and he's collecting the slack, and it can definitely look like he tried to throw it. I dunno I can't check now, but that's where I think the myth comes from. I'm probably not the first to think that but it is a theory.

That looks excellent, Jambe! I like the use of the still-frame Declan over the animated Jabba slug... although it is a shame to lose the rest of the original footage around the digital Jabba, I suppose. But the new approach is great; I say run with it.

I think this Jabba scene is going to take the longest. I might even invest some time in After Effects to improve it. FCP is fairly limited for compositing.

Also has anybody got the "Lost Cut" article published in Star Wars Insider 41?

Things have been slow of late. My freelance work schedule is just sooo busy at the moment. I have however purchased a Dual G5 mac to make things a bit quicker when I do get the chance to edit.

Recently I have been implementing some audio commentary from the cast and crew. The original crawl has also been created and integrated as well as clips from 'The Making of Star Wars' and 'When Star Wars Ruled the World'.

I am always collating facts for the subtitles. I just need to sit down an get it done.

In the meantime I am making an updated version of 'Building Empire' for the 'Miami Underground Film Festival' so 'Star Wars Begins' is on the back-burner for now. Though you can rest assured that I am doing what I can, when I can.

The "Star Wars Vault" package that is being released on October 30th is in-stock here in Australia at the bookstore where my girlfriend works. That is the item talked about here, posted about on SW.com here and listed on Amazon, here.

She's talking about getting it for me for Christmas... I'm trying to talk her into buying it now. In any case, it sounds like it'll be useful for your project.
