That would be great if you would upload it. Can you upload it somewhere like yousendit or megaupload. I don't mind usenet, but prefer not to use it if I don't have to.

Everything should be put on Usenet! SO easy to grab...

So let me get this straight... you've got a website (is there a link yet?) dedicated to showing off that you have this rare ESB documentary, but you have no intention of sharing it with the SW community?

You should at least give a copy to Jambe so he can do a V2.0 of Building Empire and use clips from it and sound for an updated commentary.

I've read this whole thread and I have to agree, if the thing was broadcast even ONCE on TV, it's fair game to set free and no one - the makers of it or otherwise - should expect it to stay locked away. Who's to say that someone won't find an old VHS they recorded of it next week and upload it?

If it was broadcast, it could happen.

And it SHOULD.

Please, be a hero and set it free.

Looks like you didn't read this thread to carefully....

I'm not too interested in explaining my reasons again. And I do not show off that I have this. I'm all for sharing (just look at the website and the upcoming forum).

I looked at the site, it's an amazing piece of work and one of the best made websites I've ever seen.

But it's a museum... we can't save the images, the clips are not available for download... it's designed to only be viewed if we look at it on your site.

The material is not being "shared" so others can make use of it.

In some cases I wouldn't mind, but you are talking about it here, on a site that's main purpose is to preserve and share all things Star Wars - not to preserve and "tease" people with low res bits of your unique material.

I know I might take flak for saying all this, and please understand, I loved looking at what you've got and it is amazing stuff - I just find it ironic that you are asking a community that is all about truly sharing to look at what you've got but you will keep it to yourself.

As I said before, people like Jambe and Garrett Gilchrist should have this material - they have put months of tireless work making the best Star Wars documentaries out there. If I were to unearth some rare footage, I would give it to them first so they could use it for their next versions.

I think you should too.

At least give Jambe the audio track of the "Making of Empire" so he can use it for commentary on Building Empire 2.0!!

Hi Mojo_LA,

sorry, but again you're not looking to closely. Look a bit further and you might find things out for yourself.
Almost every image that is in there can be saved by just clicking on the images. Only a few images are restricted in this way at the request of the owner and I respect that. At least I get to show them on the archives for you guyz.
Again this is only for a few galleries at the owners request. There are hundreds and hundreds of images (there and yet to come) that can be downloaded by left clicking on the image. That's what the hand icon/cursor is for

As far as Jambe is concerned: he is one of the people who previewed the site and commented and shared his thoughts on it before it got released. And about Building Empire 2.0: I've talked with him about that and he's not going to do that project for some time as his main goal right now is the "A new hope" project.

And as far as the video's are concerned: I've shared a couple of them here on this forum. The selected clips from the doc, will be offered here for download shortly and like I said earlier: when the forum opens I will present selected images from the site in higher resolutions to start the sharing/trading. As far as the low-res presentation: I'm limited by the size of the account and want to get as much stuff on there as possible. But then again: they're bigger than the ones on starwars.com

That's how it is.

I am all for sharing and I don't like people saying I'm not when I have just made a huge effort to get this thing going and SHARE it with you guyz.

I'm doing the best I can even in these difficult times for me.

I guess you just can't satisfy everyone

Man, there's always somebody who turns a huge positive into a negative situation. As some one else here said, no one would have known as much as we do now about this doc if Darth Neo hadn't come forward. He's already shared about 15- 20 min of it! But I guess some people feel "entitled" to other people's property simply because they're a fan.

Do you realize how much time and effort goes into building a site of that scale? All for FREE for everyone's benefit! All for a love of the films and a desire to share that love with other fans. Are Star Wars fans as a whole paying for his time and server/internet fees etc? Obviously not, so give him a break! He doesn't HAVE to share anything with anybody. Just cause you can't download it doesn't mean it wasn't great that you got the chance to see it in the first place. If you want to see it again, go to the site. In fact, he's created something really wonderful as an exhaustive reference point for star wars photos. Nothing else there really exists in this format. There are sites that have a multitude of images, but most of those pics are of the standard variety.

I've corresponded personally with Darth Neo over the past few weeks (some of my photos are on his site) and I will attest that he's done all of this work for Star Wars fans just because he wants to share his passion for the films, and their making of. He's a great fellow fan and his generousity is limitless.

If you're jealous that he has something you don't, well you just have to learn that lesson in life. Everybody on this board is interested in sharing as much material with each other as possible, but at some point you have to draw the line. Darth Neo made a promise not to re-distribute the making of. But he did come on this site, signed up, gave as much info as he could and gave us footage from it. I own original photo material from the films. Since I'm a member on this site, does that entitle everyone here to high res copies of those photos, especially when I'm the one who invested the money in aquiring them in the first place? But I did feel as a fan it would be great to show them in a format and size that doesn't diminish the rarity of my originals, and that's why they're on his site in a lower res and non-downloadable. As for his making of doc, I think he's stretched his promise about as far as it can go in our favor, don't you?

Being from the netherlands, Darth Neo can bring a lot of international material to us that most North American's would have trouble finding. He's a great fan and I know the majority here appreciate what he's doing. He shouldn't have to defend himself in the least, especially since a week ago, 99 percent of us hadn't seen a lot of the images now displayed for free on his site.

I totally agree with you Murch. I contacted Darth Neo personally this morning in response to the negative post.

We all do what we do for the love of the films. We all take time out of our lives to do it. Every endevour should be appreciated. Please think before you post.

I think I did not come across the way I intended... at least half of my post WAS complimenting the site and acknowledging how amazing it and the material is... but my "negative" comments have been what is focused on, so perhaps my response was not written the way it should have been.

Also, I didn't know Neo was planning to offer more material for download and I guess it was dumb luck that the only images I tried to save were the restricted ones.

Maybe I was playing "sour grapes" over the announcement of that amazing, lost documentary and the simultaneous news that it would not be made available. So I apologize if I came across that way. Empire is my favorite film and watching the clips from that doc just made me want to see the whole thing!!

It would be interesting to know why the person who provided it to Neo doesn't want it released.

In any case, I am sorry if I came across as bitter and accusatory, that was not the point. As I said before, it is an incredible site - it's so professional and, especially because it has the words "star wars" in the URL I really hope Lucas doesn't shut it down!

Neo, have you considered that possibility? LFL is usually most interested in targeting sites/merchandise that could be confused with official product, and I could easily see with a name like "Star Wars Archives" and the professionalism of the site that people might think it's official.

Apology accepted Mojo_LA,

There is a disclaimer at the bottom of the site stating that this site is not affiliated with lucasfilm, nor is the site in any way commercial. I only heard stories of Lucasfilm going after people who are making money off of his property.
About the url: if lucas wants it that bad, he can buy it

However, I don't think it will be a problem. There is also a non-commercial site that is called starwarsarchive.com and they've been arround since 1997.

Just one note: I did write earlier that images would be made available through the forum in higher resolution. I would be nice to make sure you've read everything before making assumptions.

Oh I know how to screen grab... but you'd still be getting fairly low res images.

My hope is that he'll eventually make them all available for hi res download.

Honestly, I don't really need them - I'm thiking more for the people in this forum who would be using them for their own documentaries and other SW projects.

Well Neo tell Gary we love him dearly and the Star Wars community's #1 desire is to record his commentary for SW & ESB, make a podcast and get it out there.

I'll happily fly to wherever he is and do it myself.

Question: is there any interest in video's from O&A sessions from a few dutch conventions where Gary Kurtz was attending and elaborated on filming Star Wars and Empire.

If anyone wants these I'll digitize and upload the video's.

Anything where Gary Kurtz talks about STAR WARS is always good. That man was the Governor where producing STAR WARS was concerned!!!

If its put on RAPIDSHARE, any chance it can be on windows media player?

Cheers once again,
