Anyone else totally disregard Lumpy being Chewbaccas's son?

I know i do. It's just a little too cute, cuddly, too ridiculous and actually not all that believable. It was a horrible way of to end the "Chewbacca is Hans lover" rumours.

Also nothing in Star wars IV hints at this being an actual possiblity (in a way)...

I really don't think Itchy was created to end "Chewbacca is Han's lover" rumors. I think he was more part of a device to give a "plot" to the Holiday Special and make more money off this incredible popular movie. Most people disregard the HS, including George, so they probably disregard Itchy too. Did he appear in other EU novels? If they really wanted to make him canon, Chewies wife could have at least been in ROTS. I never liked the idea of Chewie abanddoning his family on account of a life debt and becoming a rotten father and husband. Also makes Han a jerk for not releasing him from it. The Chewies family idea was a bad one from the start, as bad as the rest of the HS.

Apparently, he was in one of those New Jedi Order novels, but I'm not sure.

Itchy and Chewie's wife Mala were also in the old Marvel comics.

RE: Anyone else totally disregard Itchy being Chewbaccas's son?

Actually, you mean Lumpy (even worse than Itchy as a name!). Itchy was Chewie's father.

I've always kind of considered this fact to be loosely part of the Star Wars world, probably because I saw the Holiday Special when it aired, it was live action, and it was very shortly after Star Wars. Maybe it didn't happen exactly like it was shown in the Holiday Special (let's hope not), but I'll accept that Chewbacca had a family with a son nicknamed "Lumpy".

I also saw it when it first aired. As I've mentioned before - 29 years later and I'm still trying to unsee it. I swear to God I remember some sort of a scene with a female wookie washing dishes at a sink and honestly - I think she was wearing an apron.

Vile

All those years ago - one fucking viewing - and those images are still in there. I was that disgusted by it. Sick.

For the record, their proper Wookiee names are Lumpawarrump and Attichitcuk.
And you have to suffer the Holiday Special at least once, or else you're just a poser.

Yeah, I also meant that Lumpy was in the comics... Don't know about Itchy.

Attichitcuk was in the Galactic Battlegrounds PC game, too.

The next movie takes place 20 years later I think, and Chewies kid must not even be 6 in the Holiday Special, so it could of been much later when Chewie actually settled down for a bit with the mother and had a kid.

I know, I've never cared for being itchy either. That is my biggest peeve about camping, getting eaten by those stupid mosquitos and itching for the next few days. I also hate when you get a hair cut and the hair goes down the neck of your shirt and it is itchy all day long.

Im talking about the supposed "son" of Chewbacca. But you know, the PT should be in the same level of canonicity of the Holiday special
