That's also an option. PM's are now enabled!
George Lucas, October 1979: There are essentially nine films in a series of three trilogies. I have story treatments on all nine.
George Lucas, February 1999: I never had a story for the sequels.

Are there any newsgroups or irc things or anything to get the KCCI edition?
I tried looking for it on myspleen but couldn't find it.
I have the other version with the Muppets, but this new version sounds much cooler.

Happy 28th anniversary of the darkest moment in Star Wars history!

And no, I don't mean Episode I...

I have added a new section to starwarsholidayspecial.com called Features, where I will be adding articles written about particular aspects of the Holiday Special. The first article is about the Urban Legends of the Star Wars Holiday Special. Check it out through the News section here.

Enjoy. More articles to follow later.

You just reminded me about "Christmas In The Stars". Ugh. I hated listening to that. You must preserve that as well. It seems only fitting. Listening to R2-D2 trying to "sing" on that thing is the only part that's totally worth it.

Thanks! But IMO the Donnie and Marie SW episode holds that distinction.

Well, tonight I'm going to subject my kids to the whole special. They've already seen the animated segment a number of times, and also have seen the Imperial dude rip off the head of Lumpy's stuffed Bantha, but they've never endured the entire program. Hopefully they won't hate me too much after it's over....

Wasn't the case at all. To the contrary, the first words spoken by my 7-year-old after it was over: "I want to watch it again!" Now you know why I haven't shown the kids the PT. Kids like just about anything. Although, the 10-year-old is pretty keen. My version of the HS has a trailer for AOTC. When they showed Yoda speaking, my 10-y-o said, in her best Yoda voice, "Look like created by a computer was I." Right on.

PG-13 rating? Pretty funny stuff. You misspelled Boba Fett and Wookiee though.

I just watched the special again. Christ, that was friggin' awful. The Wookie sounds, the bad comedy, the dated performances, Wookie porn, Carrie Fisher on crack, and it was almost too much to bear. Then I saw that montage of clips at the end, and suddenly it made the preceding hour-and-a-half all worth while.

Does anyone still have either the complete episode or the full clip of the CONAN O'BRIEN show that aired on 2-7-06 with Harrison Ford? I seem to have lost it, I had it as an 350mb AVI but it's no longer on my Star Wars backup HD

THANKS!!!!!

Anyone know where I can get the commercials from the special? They used to be on YouTube but it turns out they got taken down for some reason.

Are you talking about the TV commercial for the special? I think that Skot is trying to get a copy of it from the person who uploaded it, according to the talk earlier in this thread. I think this would make a good extra.

No, I mean the commercials during the special. I vaguely remember them when they were on YouTube and they were... interesting.

funny how lucas is trying to keep the holiday special buried, and yet there is a screen shot on starwars.com.

I would say that Lucasfilm does not seem to be trying as hard to bury the Holiday Special lately. In fact, they seem to be referencing it more and more. There are numerous stills from the HS on starwars.com and Hyperspace, and they have shown clips from the cartoon both on the "Bucket Head" documentary (which wound up on the Episode II DVD), and in their Star Wars animation retrospective video that starwars.com hosted a while back.

I just hope it's a sign that they are more open to it now, and maybe we'll see it released someday yet.

I'd actually wouldn't be surprised to see the cartoon released officially in some future box set.

Thanks to the internet and stuff like that, its harder to keep things like this buried and forgotten about, like it once was. So maybe we'll see something come out someday. After all, the O-OT wasn't supposed to even exist anymore, and we got a release of it, flawed as it was.

I'm sure Lucas has realized that the Holiday Special is another SW product that can be sold (and in various versions/re-re-releases no doubt). So it's probably only a matter of time before it gets officially released in some form or another. Probably an edited version. Or maybe a Special Edition with added bad CGI!
We don't have enough road to get up to 88.

The other Special Editions all include some dressed-up "cutting room floor" footage. I can only IMAGINE what the outtakes of the Holiday Special must have been like... the footage that wasn't good enough to make it into the final show. As a B-shlock movie fan, I drool at the possibility of a Lucas-produced Holiday Special SE!!!

Some conjectures on cutting room floor footage from the HS:

LUMPY'S MISSTEP
While climbing up on the railing around the Wookiee house, Lumpy loses his balance in this outtake and plummets to the ground far below. Or in this case, 8 feet to the studio floor. Raucous laughter on the set nearly drowns out the director yelling "Cut!!"

TOILET TRAINING
Malla promises Lumpy another helping of Wookiee-Ookies if today he learns to use the potty like a big Wookiee. Here we get a rare view of mother-and-son bonding as Malla encourages Lumpy to do his duties on the throne.

THE RETURN OF THE MEAN-SOUNDING IMPERIAL GUARD
Later in the day, before heading out to visit Chewbacca's family, trader Saun Dann is detained by the same Imperial Guard he sold a personal groomer to earlier because the Guard now wants to return it. Saun Dann verbally fumbles his way through a merchandise exchange, but the Guard only wants money back. More hilarity ensues because we know he never paid for it in the first place.

KRELMAN'S SONG
This scene, which was trimmed as the director felt it was too sentimental, features Krelman (Harvey Korman) lifting his head up from the bar and launching into a song professing his love for Ackmena (Bea Arthur). As the rest of the cantina sings the chorus, Krelman dances across tabletops, jumping from one to the other, before sliding down the bar on his knees in front of Ackmena. At this point, Tork the bouncer clubs him on the head from behind and drops him back onto a chair where he remains until the end of the cantina segment.

THE LIGHTSABER NEAR-BATTLE SCENE
As Luke Skywalker and his friends are about to enter the celestial Wookiee ceremony area from out of nowhere somehow, a really evil Death Star Gunner also appears out of nowhere and blocks their path. Luke pulls out his lightsaber handle and acts like he is about to activate it. Startled, the Death Star Gunner stumbles back and falls to his doom in the stars or fog or whatever below.

THE WOOKIEE DINNER SCENE (ALTERNATE ENDING)
Cut from the production for time, this heart-warming final scene features 30 minutes of chomping, chewing, slurps and grunts as the camera follows each member of the Wookiee family devouring individual bites of their Bantha Surprise Life Day Meal.

I have it on good authority that the Lucasfilm Archives copy is no better than the fan copies. That's not to say they couldn't obtain a copy pretty easy... probably from the Copyright Office where they have a 2" tape on file. A few years ago someone held a screening of the tape at the Copyright Office... I'd love to know what the quality was.
