My girlfriend has never seen Star Wars!

There....I said it. We've been seeing each other for about a couple of weeks now and she dropped that bombshell on me last night as we were going to my buddies house to watch Episode III and to have some fine alco beverages. I was wearing one of my Star Wars shirts and she says something like "you must really like this Star Wars stuff, is it any good?" and I respond "Any good? Have you never seen Star Wars?" "Um...no".

So Episode III starts and I'm like "wait! Don't take ANY of this in! Forget everything that happens! What's that? An Obi-Wan is a Japanese Car! I said forget it! AHHHHHH" I decided to cut her off at "Another Happy Landing" since I needed to finish my beer.

So next time we have time to kill we'll sit down and watch Episode IV. I'm actually excited to see what she thinks, and to see if she becomes a fan of the films. Sorry folks though we'll be watching the Special Editions but don't worry I will tell her about the OOT.

"Yeah there was like an original version of these movies like when they were first made....few minor changes than these newer cuts, pay of no mind" I just thought I'd share......although I know alot of you probably didn't like that last line. If she becomes that big of a fan perhaps one day I'll show her the OOT.....let's hope the relationship lasts that long

This is an interesting case. Keep us posted about her reactions.

Will do!

Again, I don't know why I initially made this post, cause I figured I would get a bunch of people telling me which order to watch the films....oh wait...sorry....I forgot this is OriginalTrilogy.com that shouldn't be a problem (that's actually the reason WHY I posted it here rather than on IMDb)

However I am excited to hear her reactions on the films. This is the first person I've known atleast long enough to find out that they've never watched Star Wars....it's gonna be fun! It's also the reason I'll start with the Original Trilogy first, it's meant to be seen that way....I could never abide anybody watching the Prequels first unless they were like me and had just seen Star Wars umpteen million times.

I have a cousin who has never seen a Star Wars movie, and I plan to introduce him to "a galaxy far, far away" some time soon.

I had two friends who had never seen any of the SW films, so I sat them down one day and we watched episodes 4-6 (the OOT versions, of course!) Unfortunately, they were my P&S Faces VHS set, but that's all I had at the time.

It was a lot of fun watching their reactions to Darth Vader's revelation (somehow, they didn't even know about that), and the Luke/Leia revelation.

I wish I could find a friend who hadn't ever seen Star Wars. It would be a lot of fun to be the first one to show it to them.

The best I can do there is show people the Holiday Special who haven't seen it yet. But only if I'm feeling excessively cruel...

My girlfriend hadn't seen Star Wars when I first knew her either.
It took going to comic-con with her (which I'd never been to before, as justification) to decide to show her the movies. This was right before Episode III came out.

I had wanted to show her the OOT, then I, II, and III. But since it was so short before III came out, she watched I and II with me at home then III in theaters. Then we watched the OOT at home too.

I think she really did enjoy it... although she feigns annoyance at Star Wars.

My stance on revising fan edits.

Well folks, we watched Episode IV tonight. This is kinda embarrassing but she was all over me tonight and (here comes the embarrasing part) as much fun as that was I said to her "honey, if this were any other movie I'd make love to you till the cows came home.....but it's Star Wars and you've never seen it! Let's watch!" I felt kinda geeky turning down a woman but damnit! This may be the only chance to really expierence Star Wars with someone who hadn't already seen the films.

So during the film she pretty much watched attentively until she was feeling...uhh...you know....so I had to attempt to spurn her advances (which I failed a couple of times where I thought she didn't really need to pay attention) however I think she got the jist of the film. I had to explain a few things, like I told her to watch when Ben is telling Luke about the Force and I even had to tell her who Darth Vader was and why he was taking the princess and what the "Death Star Plans" were. She even asked me who that alien was "oh that's Greedo, he's a bounty hunter". I'm not too sure if she understood Jabba's role in the film but what are you gonna do I guess. She seemed to enjoy the film as it got later into the film. Once the falcon was in the Death Star docking bay she tended not to make anymore advances and pretty much watched.

Final Verdict: She said she liked the film. I told her not to lie to me, just to be honest but she was adamant that she enjoyed it, so I guess that's as good as I'm gonna get. I should have asked her what she liked about it, but I'll be seeing her tomorrow so I'll see what she says.

I kinda made a joke with her, I said something like "our relationship will work if we can get through all six Star Wars movies and we're still together" to which she responded "There's Six Star Wars movies!?!?!?"

Thanks for reading everyone.....I'll keep you posted on what she thinks of the next film, The Empire Strikes Back!

So you've got a girl who was trying to jump your bones while watching Star Wars, and then you basically said "No! This is Star Wars! You must watch!" and kept fending her off, and she still wanted to jump in bed after the movie? That's a keeper, man.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

geez man. you are gonna look back on this in ten years and scream " what the hell was I thinking??"

priorities need to be set here.

your stinky old star wars movies will still be sitting there waiting for you when the chick is bored and long gone. thats when you drag them out and watch them...not when she's sitting next to you drooling , going " give me some sugar baby !". and youre going , in a nasally voice " no, watch this...Ben disappears! "

I mean, I love the movies, but sheesh. I never knocked back some action so I could watch one of the stupid things.

And I sure as hell wouldn't expect some poor person that sees something in you besides your uber SW collection to sit through the PT. what on earth could she have done to deserve such abuse of a friendship? poor girl

Like how you could possibly choose watching a DVD over the taste of a naked woman?

Oh well, it won't be a problem much longer anyway. When a woman is willing to offer herself sexually to a guy and he says " not right now, they're about to meet Lando" - she'll be moving on soon.

heh some of these comments are great.

Believe me, it's not like I'm gonna make her watch all six films back to back and give her the cold shoulder the entire time....we've already spaced it out between OUR time and "Star Wars Time" with which our time far outweights the one time we've watched Star Wars. If there's any indication of her feelings by what I've said, I doubt I'll lose this one because I told her to "watch the film". Star Wars is just another fun thing I want to share with her....turns out she was just really horny that night. I know sounds ultra-geeky to turn away the woman...but she's hardly neglected I can assure you

You have bad judgement, my friend. You should have paused the movie. Trust me, you've got all the time in the world.

heh, yeah....well we did have time after the movie. That's the great thing about her parents they don't expect her home at any time. So regardless I did have all the time in the world.

Yeah the good thing about my g/f is that she saw the originals before the prequel trilogy because her older brother use to watch them when he was young. I watch them every day and now she is sick of Star Wars period what did i do wrong? I was hopeing she would become a fan like i would but im also a big George A Romero fan and i have all the Dead movies and she likes those better than Star Wars!

Well I'll bring this back on topic for abit about her thoughts. Let me just summarize.

- Had to reinforce the relationship (thus far) of Ben Kenobi and Darth Vader....and that Vader had killed Luke's father. She understood that Vader was evil and that someone had to fight him but just need to get the "why" of it all. She enjoyed the duel and liked the lightsabers (ohhh flashy) and I told her they get abit faster with each movie to follow.

- Really liked the finale of the film with the fighters running the trench, she was kind of confused by "Ben's Voice" but I told her I would tell her more when we watched the next film. I believe she understand that he's dead but can obviously still continue communicating with the "living".

- She also commented on how her favourite character is Han Solo....I mean Ford was quite the stud but....anyways she liked that Han came back and helped Luke out in the end. She also liked Chewie and thought he had some funny bits.

- Didn't seem all that impressed with the opening sequences with C-3P0 and R2-D2 or appreciate any comedy they lent to the film. Oh well....I guess they aren't that rip roaringly hilarious really.

- Like the "Ghostly Voice" failed to understand why Ben would commit suicide. I explained it was more of a deversionary tactic....if she agrees remains to be seen.

Besides that and the few distractions she just seemed to take everything in. I don't know how many of you would consider Star Wars one of those "have to watch several times to take it all in expierences" but I think this may be the case for her. Who knows, I guess I can help her along when it comes to the next movie.

Everyday? I guess I can understand why she doesn't like Star Wars anymore....I went on a Star Wars binge for a while there but even I couldn't stand watching Star Wars everyday for any great length of time. Do you mean you just watch the Saga then give it a rest? Cause that could take some time to finish but if this is something you are doing like everyday for like months upon months on end...I can see why she'd be sick of them.
